  • Mitchel Wu from Los Angeles, California stages plastic toy characters to create stories through photo. Disney hired him to create surreal scenes from their iconic franchises like Toy Story and Star Wars. Using practical effects like liquid splashes, and digital effects in Photoshop, the former wedding photographer and recreates the illusion of motion film in a still. In a six-hour process, Wu captures the nostalgia of Harry Potter, Spongebob, Rocky, Batman, Lord of the Rings and more through his self taught craft.

The problem is those toys are now his tools to making a living, he would not be able to play with them or let anyone else play with them. So it's not about playing with toys, it's all about getting the image.

The process is part of the fun. You will get it if you are into toy photography.

@@angchengann5037 lol I will get it if I am into photography...I’m talking about the toys, not the camera. Similarly to real life models, models are just models, being a photographer or not (which I am professionally) has nothing to do with playing with models. The models, living or inanimate, are tools to create the photo. Those toys are tools, he will need them for shots, they are not for kids to play, stamped on, thrown.
