A now 18-year-old (I think?) Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) learns all about the joys of fooling around and then immediately after, its consequences. It’s all like a Westerosi after school special but a relatively sensitive one that respects how easy it is for a relatively sheltered royal girl to get swept up in unfamiliar emotion.
We know Rhaenyra gets the message because in the very next scene she decides to act on her own desires for perhaps the first time in her life. Rhaenyra flirting with and ultimately sleeping with her sworn knight Ser Criston Cole (Fabian Frankel) is quite the fraught moment. While the power dynamics in the previous scene favored Daemon, here they favor Rhaenyra.
Just one episode ago, Criston told Rhaenyra that he and his family owe everything to her.
Every relationship, it turns out, pivots on this one night. House of the Dragon reminds us there are no normal families in King’s Landing: Power makes all relationships impossible in Episode 7

It’s pretty epic to think this is their first time meeting each other after 10 years they really missed each other and immediately got on and had hell of a reunion ❤

Loved that bit too. The two of them are such wonderfully complex characters whose connection with one another is what so many try to find but few gain. Credit to the writers/directors and obviously the actors who have brought them to life. One of the best romances on screen.

She has been after this man for a while. When she said “I’m no longer a child” she made it clear that she was gonna do something about it this time.
It is very tender scene... If it happened 10 years earlier there would have been fire, passion and all that. But now it feels like they should have been together all these years. Like now they belong together.
Note to self do not watch this show with your religious parents.

sis I HAVE glasses and still gotta turn the brightness up and squint like I'm at a Tacobell menu on 4/20 and trying to order a logical amount of food.
After 10 years of waiting,suppressing, biting their own tongues, holding on, the scene is so tender. I was imagining them to be like rabid animals.

Same, but the tenderness made it better. It suits their dynamic until now. They've always been gentle with each other, especially when it comes to touch. Even the neck grab in ep 5 felt more endearing than forceful or aggressive.
I was kind of disappointed..
I agree, and I don't necessarily mind that it was tender.....it's just that she doesn't seem that into it while it's happening.

Aside from the fact that they’re uncle and niece their chemistry is amazing. Daemon with his attitude and charisma could have any woman any day ❤️🔥
for us this sort of relationship is peculiar to say the least but for the show it's tender and romantic and kinda relaxing with the wind and music.

Yes this has been the most beautiful score this series has produced so far. Amazing soundtrack throughout but this was gorgeous, ambient music is so emotional when utilised correctly
She was smart to marry him. The greens have Vhaegar and The blacks just gained Daemon the moment Rhae married him. We all know everyone fears Daemon. He’s going to be ruthless in the war.
But Losing Vhaegar resulted in them losing their lives. If Aemond didn't have Vhaegar he couldn't kill daemon. and Daemon would save Rhaeryna

The Blacks already had Daemon. Daemon loved his niece and hated Hightowers, Laena loved her brother, their sons and Rhaenyra.
The death of the pure, innocent Laena Velaryon confirmed the war - no one would have stood against Rhaenyra so long as Laena rode Vhagar.

They rushed it. Too soon, too swiftly dealt with. Should have given a better scene for their first time since they have been building it up for so many episodes. Didn't let the relationship breathe with older Rhaenyra.

Daemon is sleeping with his niece on the day of his wife's funeral. His 'feelings' for Rhaenyra and their 10 years of distance is more important than him being their for his grieving daughters.

All of thee above. She isn't a child anymore that has a crush on her uncle. She has lost everyone she's ever loved, her friend Alicent, her family Aemma, her lover Harwin. Daemon fills all three of those roles, he is a friend, her family and lover.
