A crazy thing about Will Anderson is right when he was starting to convert his pressure % into sacks, he injured his ankle and missed a few games and was on a snap count for the rest of them. He finally pieced it all together and will be even better next year
I just want to see what happens now because of all the muscle he put on in the offseason along with everything he's been learning from Danielle. Put those 2 things together with the fact that they can't double him as much as they did last year on account of having another pass rusher just as deadly as him on the team now as well. I am very curious to see what's going to be possible this year. When all these commentators discuss how good they think the Texans will be this year, they usually only focus on the offense and how much incredible firepower they will have. They always overlook how much the defense has improved. When it's all said and done, it might not just be our offense that is considered top 5 in the league, especially when you take into account that this is Demeco's first full year of putting together the defensive players he wants. That, together with his genius defensive play calling, should push the Texans further than anything they were capable of last year.

@@aaronsams8605Gibbs is kind of like Deebo Samuel in the fact that he's more of just an offensive weapon than strictly a running back or wide receiver
As others have said, your Broderick jones grade is head scratching. He was a beast in run blocking, and a lot of his "pressures" were Pickett or Trubisky taking the worst angle or spinning into the face of pressure inexplicably. I like a lot of your vids, but it feels like you just checked the PFF metrics and didn't actually watch him play, which is understandable since forced watching the Steelers 2023 offense should be considered a war crime. I give this vid a C+.
It should also be mentioned that Broderick was the youngest and least experienced of the big OT's coming out that year. Once he refines his blocking technique a bit, he has a good chance of becoming a dominant player. Really enjoy the temperament with which he plays the game, and his athleticism is extraordinary. Loved this pick.
I can't stress enough how terribly mishandled Forbes and the WAS secondary was this year. WE HAD A HIGH SCHOOL COACH AS OUR DB COACH TO REPLACE THE ONE THAT LEFT US AND HE AND DEL RIO GOT FIRED. A year ago our secondary was better than what people hoped, only problem was injury and no true no.1, hopefully Dan Quinn and the new DC and Corner coach are more competent than Ron's staff of yes men.
Say what you will about Dan Quinn as a HC, but he's a damn good secondary coach. I still think Gonzalez was the pick for them, but Forbes should be better next year
You don’t kill your brand new RB away when you’re not in contention. No need to kill the kids career away in a throw away season. I am a Longhorn’s fan, and he has a little bit of Barry Sander’s in him with speed. When they get better, everyone will know his name.
C+ for Broderick Jones is odd since it's clear they want him to go back to LT. The fact he (temporarily) came in at RT AND instantly transformed the run game into bully ball is crazy good in my book
What people forget is that it wasn’t just a Trade back for the Lions. When they traded back, they essentially got Gibbs AND LaPorta in exchange for Bijon. All teams would take that trade one year later.
I appreciate the Incomplete on Lukas Van Ness. I think A- would have been a little too high and C+ would have been too low. I think he’s a solid B+ on the field, with A upside. The Packers just need to find their defensive identity, and I think Van Ness is a potential lynch pin
Packers are notorious for drafting for the future and developing players under Gute. They're doing the same thing they did with Gary. Draft an athletic freak with high football iq but a little raw. Then slowly develope them behind 2 solid starters. Can't deny the results they've had when they take this approach and I trust the process.
Titans OL coach had 2 years of NFL OL coaching experience after coming over after OL coaching COLGATE of all schools. Don't close the book on Skoronski guys. Entire Titans line underperformed outside of Chris Hubbard and last month Radunz
I find it odd how when Broderick Jones was evaluated, not a single mention at all was made on his run blocking. He was a bulldozer in run blocking and was truly elite. Offensive Linemen pass block AND run block.
I hate when people think they know what the hell they are talking about even tho THEY NEVER WATCHED SOME OF THESE PLAYERS PLAY LIVE. Dude. Number 77 Brodrick Jones was better than a C+. He instantly andd i mean instantly transformed that Oline especially when running the ball.
Not only was he indirectly responsible for drafting Stroud but he was directly responsible for getting Jack Easterby fired. Hell, we should errect a statue in his honor for that one action alone. Put that together with getting CJ and I'm kind of surprised the Texans don't already have a Rocky style statue put up at the entrance to NRG Stadium.
Detroit wanted Devon Witherspoon. There was no doubt they were hoping Seattle would not select him. They still wanted Gibbs by selection 18 but were wary he would still be available. So immediately trading out with ARZ to better fortunes still getting Gibbs, then Campbell, and LaPorta.
just not finding this video lol, but Broderick Jones wasn't moved to RT because he struggled at LT, he showed flashes at left but the play at RT with Chuks was poor after he got paid so they benched him for BJ hoping that would show a little more promise out of the line until they find a solution this upcoming season possibly moving him back at left
Paris Johnson is a beast, he’s going to be an All Pro. He was solid the first half of the season but the 2nd half of the year he looked like an All Pro at times and weeks 9-18 ranked as a top 25 OT from via PFF. He was a good pass protector all year but 2nd half of the season was borderline elite posting PFF Pass Pro grades in the 70s to mid 80s almost every week and dramatically improved his technique n run blocking all while facing a murderers row of EDGE talents. And that’s all while playing a position he had NEVER played till he was drafted and signed into the NFL at RT. Next season come 2024 I think AZ moves him to his natural position at LT and becomes an elite top 10 caliber OT making his first Pro Bowl. At his size with elite athleticism moving incredibly well for his size at 6”6/325 with long 36in long arms I think he’ll be a top tier pass protector for a long time to come, he’s a beast he’s so fluid he reminds me a lot of Laremy Tunsil whom he often draws comps to. At RT I think AZ drafts another elite mover with a massive frame whom excels as a pass protector w/36in long arms but needs refinement in OKLs 6”7/328pd RT Tyler Guyton who’s a beast on the field and would give Kyler Murray two Pro Bowl caliber athletes locking up his edges protecting him. At 27 I think they take Guyton.
As a Lions fan I am thrilled either what we got, but it will always hurt losing Witherspoon. I still think we could have gotten at least Gibbs and branch, and possibly even Laporta. No Campbell though. Witherspoon was what we thought Okudah could have been. Forbes was really disappointing. Yes, he is undersized but I liked the guy coming out. He just looked lost out there.
C.J.Stroud is a awesome special player excellent decisions with the ball to start his rookie year but i can assure you this he will take the Texans to the Super Bowl and beyond you got a great rookie coach in Demeco Ryan's and both rookies in Stroud and Anderson Jr too it's A+ no doubt about it 15:22
Not only could Forbes not cover AJ Brown, he couldn't tackle him either. Why they put Forbes, their smallest corner on AJ Brown is beyond me, and then they had Fuller on DeVonte Smith. It should have been the other way around. One of the many reasons Jack Del Rio and Ron Rivera are out of work.
the move to put tyree wilson inside definitely helped him out, he was not getting any pressure the first half if the year. but he also didnt really practice before the season

some days I wonder what could've been if the Panthers got Stroud and not Young and the Texans got Young and not Stroud. I'm not a fan of either team and I'm simply imagining and speculating what could've happened, and all I can see is the Panthers still finishing below .500 but not nearly as bad and directionless imo, hell, Frank Reich probably would've kept his job, lets face it David Tepper is the new Dan Snyder. Meanwhile, if Bryce went to Houston, I don't think he would've started right away, i think the Texans would've noticed how limited he was, give him a year to bulk up and learn the system, and while I know this sounds stupid, I would've given Davis Mills another shot with Case still as the backup. Imo, I never thought Davis was THAT bad, he plays like a 3rd rounder, and he was on some unfairly bad Texans teams that were clearly tanking for high picks, now would the Texans finish with the winning record that they did get? I don't think so. All of this is is just stupid thoughts from a Cheesehead, the reality is, Panthers dun goofed getting Bryce Young, Texans hit gold with Stroud. Honestly, I hope Davis Mills gets another shot somewhere, especially given the QB market right now, sheesh!
The part that was missed by everyone but not Holmes is Gibbs is a physical every down rb that happens to have elite speed. I think non Detroit fans still believe hes a change of pace back or a 3rd down back which is off.
I’ll fully admit that I was wrong about the Lions draft class as a whole. The scouting they did was clearly elite although I still don’t love the process of taking 4 of the least valuable positions and an injured backup QB with your first 5 picks, all in day 1 or 2. But even if the process was flawed, the results are clearly unbelievable. But the one criticism that I still think holds a lot of weight is the drafting of Jack Campbell, and I like Campbell as a player. But taking him when you already had Anzalone, Rodriguez, and Barnes at LB, and you still had Deonte Banks, Porter Jr, Myles Murphy, Nolan Smith, Calijah Kancey, Zay Flowers, and Jordan Addison on the board. To me, any of these players either have far more upside at a more valuable position, or are just flat out better than what you are getting from Campbell at a loaded non premium position. That along with the Hooker pick kept this draft from being damn near perfect in retrospect. If they had taken Porter there, geez it woulda been unreal. But all this is admittedly nitpicky when you’re able to grab 3 guys who look like they are among the best in the league at their position.
I love the LVN analysis. People grade him bad bc of little playing and say “he’s not good enough to start”. GB just has a process for some positions(like QB). They are treating LVN like Gary when he was a rookie. LVN was a raw prospect just like Gary, so hopefully it works out the same way. LVN did great if you put in to context of how GB wants to develop them.
Now that we know the initial results, Texans basically traded a #12 & #27 for a #3(Will Anderson Jr), ouch. Texans had their best draft ever 1st rd. #2 overall - Stroud - QB - ORotY 1st rd. #3 overall - Anderson - DE - DRotY 2nd rd - Scruggs - starting C after being hurt for first few weeks. 3rd rd. Tank Dell - starting slot with insane cuts. 5th rd. Henry To'o To'o - starting LB, was everywhere. 7th rd. Patterson - starting OL, filled in for injuries as a 7th rd'er & killed it.

I think the GM gets a tad too much credit. The scouting department under the GM is who I give most of the credit to. The GM does pull the trigger, but it’s based on the scouting department’s recommendations. The Lions’ scouting department is out of this world right now.

As an Eagles fan, both Nolan Smith and Jalen Carter really only had like 8 or 9 games to really show anything. The second half of our season might've been the worst defensive collapse of all time in the NFL. I've never seen anything like it so i'm hoping that Carter and especially Nolan can really show us what their ceilings are next year! I do really like what Carter has shown though, reminds me a little of Jerome Brown just the ability to move the interior line even when getting blocked by 2 plus guys. Fletcher, BG, and Carter were easily the best parts of our d line last year. Hoping Nolan in a more defined role can really show his freaky athleticism.
Gb drafted LVN the same way they did Rashan Gary. They drafted athletic freaks that were a little raw and develope them behind 2 solid starters. It worked with gary and if i have to rely on the packers ability to coach and develope LVN probably will too.
What's more valuable? An elite pass rush win rate & above average sack numbers consistently, or someone with above average pass rush win rate but elite sack numbers consistently? There's always a hint of subjectivity with the PFF stats, & I tend to lean more toward favoring the consistent material result while comparing production/value. I'm curious to see what other people think about this question.

Yeah but he's not a vertical threat that stretches the field, he's more of a slot guy in the realm of a Julian Edelman type. He's better suited as a good wr2. There were too many plays like that from #9 for me to be anything but nervous moving into year 2. Something that should give us solace is the fact that we were there the whole time. The very fact that hearing good things about our team is surprising means we've been through the lows, oh so many lows. But it means we're not bandwagon or fairweather fans, jumping onto the hype train just because they're finally doing good. Let me be clear, there's absolutely nothing wrong in doing thar, whatsoever. Especially as far as the Texans are concerned, with the way they were coached, managed, and even with the players like Watson, etc. They were, for all intents and purposes, an embarrassment as well as being a complete laughing stock to the NFL. So fans being hesitant to jump back on board the Texans' hype-train is completely understandable. But my point is that if you did suffer year after year, especially through the last 2 years, knowing that they would be terrible but still holding out hope for each little move they made with personnel, coaches, free agency, and then finally draft. While I can't speak for other fans, I felt a type of ownership or pride or whatever it is that made this team feel just a little bit more personal. Whatever it is, it's still shocking to hear all the love the Texans are getting now and makes it even more special being there through all the heartbreak, drama, and decisions it took to get them to this point.

@@aaronsams8605Gibbs is kind of like Deebo Samuel in the fact that he's more of just an offensive weapon than strictly a running back or wide receiver
@@jacobhowland623nah the play was Bijan, but I have 0! Regrets for Gibbs
Run blocking was totally neglected. He was elite at run blocking. How does one "analyze" an Offensive Lineman and totally neglect run blocking?
It should also be mentioned that Broderick was the youngest and least experienced
of the big OT's coming out that year. Once he refines his blocking technique a bit,
he has a good chance of becoming a dominant player. Really enjoy the temperament
with which he plays the game, and his athleticism is extraordinary.
This...
Its actually baffling how bad of a staff Rivera and the rest of the commies front office put together, ESPECIALLY on the defensive side.
Don't worry imma eagles fan so yea I understand smfh
Well also Del Rio also played a lot of man coverage. Forbes played a crap load of zone in college. There's the main problem right there
Say what you will about Dan Quinn as a HC, but he's a damn good secondary coach. I still think Gonzalez was the pick for them, but Forbes should be better next year
not letting bijan touch the ball more was devilish. every time he touched it something happened. bro was insane
Yeah what arthur smith is really weird when it comes to play calling lol. He should feast now hopefully
The fact he (temporarily) came in at RT AND instantly transformed the run game into bully ball is crazy good in my book
yeah well id say most people hate the steelers now adays
As a Steelers fan he will be a better left tackle in his future but Broderick Jones is a beast 6:06
What people forget is that it wasn’t just a Trade back for the Lions. When they traded back, they essentially got Gibbs AND LaPorta in exchange for Bijon. All teams would take that trade one year later.
100%
Broderick Jones played really good, boasted our run game when he played
Didn't come here expecting "incomplete " on dudes that played well over 100 snaps. You get a D+ for the video
Ikr why even make the fkn video
Found your channel not too long ago, love your style. Keep it up man the vids are great.
Thank you!
Saying Darnell Wright and Tyree Wilson are close to the same grade is EXTREAMLY wrong.
Lovie smith goated for winning that extra game to get us the second pick gave us cj stroud
Because Carolina took Ryan leaf with the 1st pick . All rumored that the QB David wanted and didn't listen to Frank.😀😀
@@anthonyslazas6413 Those rumors are untrue. Carolina's beat writers have confirmed Reich pushed for Bryce.
Can't wait for the Houston content!
15:54 I'm not going to lie, you got me 😂
just not finding this video lol, but Broderick Jones wasn't moved to RT because he struggled at LT, he showed flashes at left but the play at RT with Chuks was poor after he got paid so they benched him for BJ hoping that would show a little more promise out of the line until they find a solution this upcoming season possibly moving him back at left
As a Packers fan im surprised you gave Van Ness that high of a grade. Thought he was underwhelming.
He's an agragator not an analyzer. That's why.
Skoronski also had an appendectomy a few weeks into the season
As a Lions fan I am thrilled either what we got, but it will always hurt losing Witherspoon. I still think we could have gotten at least Gibbs and branch, and possibly even Laporta. No Campbell though. Witherspoon was what we thought Okudah could have been. Forbes was really disappointing. Yes, he is undersized but I liked the guy coming out. He just looked lost out there.
The Texans nailed the draft!!!
And they still have a first round pick at 23,and $66 million in cap space third highest in the NFL.
Beef up the O line
If Bijan was on any other team with any other coach, he’s runner up or getting rookie of the year, and that’s coming from a falcons fan
Jalen Carter was cracked can’t wait to see more of him
C.J.Stroud is a awesome special player excellent decisions with the ball to start his rookie year but i can assure you this he will take the Texans to the Super Bowl and beyond you got a great rookie coach in Demeco Ryan's and both rookies in Stroud and Anderson Jr too it's A+ no doubt about it 15:22
You do a nice job of analysis.
Super cool analysis Homie 🏈 CJ reverses the communities preseason expectations along with silencing the critics 🏈
Appreciate your support king
Washington really looked at Emmanuel Forbes and said “yeah, this guy can guard AJ Brown twice a year”
He’s still young and was a zone corner scheme fit
Not only could Forbes not cover AJ Brown, he couldn't tackle him either. Why they put Forbes, their smallest corner on AJ Brown is beyond me, and then they had Fuller on DeVonte Smith. It should have been the other way around. One of the many reasons Jack Del Rio and Ron Rivera are out of work.
I hope he can be saved with the new D and a different position and assignment but will probably never live up to a first round grade
the move to put tyree wilson inside definitely helped him out, he was not getting any pressure the first half if the year. but he also didnt really practice before the season
Darnell Wright should be higher. He was a monster in the run game and they didn’t even address it.
The role of the OL is not just pass protection. Yes sack and pressure is more important. But what about their run block grades for the OLs?
Will McDonald IV being a 24yr developmental prospect be ranked lower than "incomplete" compared to Lukas Van Ness being a 22yr developmental prospect. Anyone who actually watched Darnell Wright this year can tell you he was the best Offensive Lineman the Bears had. He was straight-up dominant in several games and his impact is being way underrated here. He's going to be a damn good player in the league. We learned a valuable lesson. Always trust Brad Holmes. No matter what. Broderick Jones should get a slight pass because, for most of the time, he was blocking for Pickett and Trubisky, both of whom like to run out of clean pockets and straight into DEs As soon as Broderick Jones came into the starting lineup it transformed the run game into one of the best in the league 7 hours ago Jahmyr Gibbs, who was one of the Lions best players as a rookie, was second in the league in yards per carry, A

I watched Bryce Young all season, and can't help but be worried about his lack of tonicity and physical impact. He better work on his athleticism (above all: footwork and reactivity after his drop), because he was swarmed and swallowed up so easily all year long. One of? It’s safe to say CJ Stroud had the best QB rookie season of all time. It’s not much of a debate. The Saints' poor draft trades continue Olave is a good receiver for a potential all-pro Carter Anthony Richardson is a stud but he needs to learn how to slide or go down to avoid those hits We also learned owners should never make the pick decisions…. 👀 David Tepper Didn't come here expecting "incomplete " on dudes that played well over 100 snaps. You get a D+ for the video If Richardson can stay healthy, this is an insane 2-5. Lovie Smith goated for winning that extra game to get us the second pick gave us CJ Stroud I always thought the upside on CJ was better. Jahmyr Gibbs! "He's a Magic Maaa---aaan! Whoooo-oooh" That man is one of the fastest runners in the NFL!! I'm biased mind you, as the Lions are my team! Love the Gibbs Montgomery combo baby!!
some days I wonder what could've been if the Panthers got Stroud and not Young and the Texans got Young and not Stroud.
I subscribed after the "Put your keyboards down" after the A grade for C.J. 😂
Ahhhh....he's definitely very close.
Honestly C.J.Stroud should have been drafted 1st overall instead of Bryce Young no offense 17:10
There is sooo much hype and pressure placed on the 1st Round
I love the LVN analysis. People grade him bad bc of little playing and say “he’s not good enough to start”. GB just has a process for some positions(like QB). They are treating LVN like Gary when he was a rookie. LVN was a raw prospect just like Gary, so hopefully it works out the same way. LVN did great if you put in to context of how GB wants to develop them.
Now that we know the initial results, Texans basically traded a #12 & #27 for a #3(Will Anderson Jr), ouch.
Texans had their best draft ever
1st rd. #2 overall - Stroud - QB - ORotY
1st rd. #3 overall - Anderson - DE - DRotY
2nd rd - Scruggs - starting C after being hurt for first few weeks.
3rd rd. Tank Dell - starting slot with insane cuts.
5th rd. Henry To'o To'o - starting LB, was everywhere.
7th rd. Patterson - starting OL, filled in for injuries as a 7th rd'er & killed it.
Imagine getting Will Anderson Jr with the 27th pick in 2024😮
Great vid as always!

They should have went O line or D line
@@spidamitchell8311they signed David onyemata who produced as good as Jalen Carter. Atlanta lacked tds big time. And are a running team. You've got to have two decent backs and Atlanta would of only had one going into this year Tyler Allgeier. Bijan was huge in their offense. Scored the most tds. Second in catches etc
I’m just here to make sure people know how awesome Witherspoon is and how fun it is to watch the kid play!
Gb drafted LVN the same way they did Rashan Gary. They drafted athletic freaks that were a little raw and develope them behind 2 solid starters. It worked with gary and if i have to rely on the packers ability to coach and develope LVN probably will too.
Thank you David for drafting Bryce, giving the Bears the 1st pick is gratefully appreciate .

What about JSN?
The downplaying of Thielen is crazy. Dude was 4th in the NFL among ALL receivers for open rate.. Dude was a great option and always open.
Yeah but he's not a vertical threat that stretches the field, he's more of a slot guy in the realm of a Julian Edelman type. He's better suited as a good wr2. Also he wasn't just the Panthers #1 receiver, he was the only wr/offensive playmaker in general. I've never seen a player get more set up to fail than Bryce Young last year

Look man I'm a Panthers fan and I'm not giving up on BY. You're correct that a lot of pieces failed him, but there were too many plays like the one starting at 16:41. You seem to be blaming his Oline during this segment, but #17 comes wide open on the slant and BY just isnt even looking at him. There were too many plays like that from #9 for me to be anything but nervous moving into year 2. By all means, go get him weapons, you're stuck with him for at least one more year if not two, but I think a D- is a totally fair grade for how poorly he played, even considering his surrounding cast.
In Seattle there were people freaking out in fear of taking Carter at 5. Witherspoon is great but their trenches were not good.
Congrats Jalen, good pick Eagles.
Tyree Wilson who was a 1st Round 7th overall in last year draft by the Raiders somehow or someway he will have a breakout season soon 10:42

Jalen Carter deserves an A+ cause he's gonna be a absolute beast at stopping the run as long as he stays healthy and stays strong he'll be all well and good for sure 8:40
unless he kills someone cause hes bat shit crazy
We all should've known about Bryce Young when he showed up to the draft in a salmon-colored double-breasted suit
I kinda agree with how they used B Robinson. RBs have short shelf life why run him into the ground in a rebuilding year? Limiting his carries now may give you an extra two years of elite production later
Man I really hope tyree Wilson has at least 6-8 sacks next year

Tyree Wilson will be fine, he was coming off and injury at tech, and had a bad preseason due to it which probably affected those first half stats

Gibbs and Montgomery are an effective tandem because they can both attack the edge and work between the tackles...so I don't think you can call Gibbs a change of pace back
I love that the Lions brought back the elite level Thunder&Lightning combo back to the NFL.
I am a huge Longhorn’s fan, and can tell you that Bijan is the best back talent wise in this draft. Watch his highlights. The guy moves a lot like a guy you know very well that is by far the best running back in NFL history who is a Lion’s and lifetime talent.
You mean Sonic and Knuckles, I presume?
Still upset the Raiders didn't take Carter.
tyree didn't have OTas and missed a lot of training camp due to his foot injury
As a Texans fan, you have no idea how weird it's been to hear people say positive things about my team.
I’m still not used to it. Am I dreaming?
The seahawks under Mike McDonald are going to strike fear into the league
Bahahahaha you’re delusional, no they definitely won’t and aren’t. SEAs defensive roster is garbage and they over the cap lacking premium picks. They have the worst QB/OL and arguably running game in their division. They’re going to suck next season as the worst team in that division as they’ll be rebuilding
The Falcons already had Tyler Algier who ran for 1,200 yards so why take another RB at 8th overall?
