I fell in love with This Time Tomorrow. Such a tender, touching read that made me think about all the things I took for granted of those people most important in my life. Not typically someone who cares for time travel but I now wish I could have more time for meaningful glimpses and interactions with my husband (who has passed) and both my parents. You are not the agent of the action, hence the passiveness. Think of a convicted criminal. In this sentence, it is used as an adjective to describe the noun, but it comes from the fact that a criminal is only a convicted one if and when a judge has convicted them. Ergo, the criminal was convicted (by the judge); in this case, convicted refers to the action of to convict, and is not a descriptive adjective (called an epithet). It’s actually quite interesting (though I’m an English teacher so fairly biased).
