  • In this video, Ben Martins from the Pico Technology Automotive team introduces us to the new Waveform Library. In it, Ben explains what the library is, how it can help you and how to use it. Fundamentally, the library is a free online storage mechanism where you can back up all your waveforms and access them from any PC anywhere and anytime. In addition, you can search the reference waveforms uploaded by other users to compare against your own captures and help you make a diagnostic pass/fail decision.

    1) How would a user know if a waveform they have saved in their waveform library in the Pico Cloud had been added to the public waveform library?
    2) Does the search function only return results from the Public Waveform library or does it also include the user’s saved waveforms that match the search criteria?

    Hello. I own a PicoScope 4225 Automotive. Is there a possibility to capture a single occurrence event during continuous measurements? For example, a missing pulse in a pwm signal. Thank you and keep up the good work. I'm a huge fan.

      Hi, many thanks for your support. Take a look at Pulse Width triggers. You can access those by clicking on the Trigger lozenge (control) and Change type in the Trigger options panel that opens up. After clicking on Pulse width trigger in the trigger types the options panel will show you all the options for the Pulse width trigger. In there you can select the time condition, which will determine the length of time the signal will need to have dropped out by before the capture is triggered. Don't forget to set the Trigger mode to Single if you expect it to be an infrequent one-off event. Hope that helps.

    Thank you very much for posting a great video on one of the features that PicoScope offers. 👍
    I hope this would be a good opportunity to ask that anytime an improvement or a new feature is added to Pico.... that someone from your company can post a video similar to this on UA-cam or on your website so that the users can become more familiar with the purpose or the benefits of whatever new feature is added.. Thank you so much for your time

      Hi Edward, yep, it is a very good opportunity to ask that. It is definitely our aim that we will always do this in the future. We have quite a few things in the pipeline so watch this space!

    Great video, but I don't have "waveform" button in software menu, also I am surprised that in properties of my 4425A I see "USB version: -1,0" - I bought it only a couple months ago. My laptop don't have USB v1.0 - it is i7 Dell. Don't know what to do.

    Ben, thanks for the video. Just D/L'd the Mac Pico 7 SW and noticed it's still the old "Intel" only version (Meaning that newer Mac's have to use Rosetta to run). Many applications are not coming with "universal" installers that will load M1 optimized versions if that processor is detected. Do you know when Pico will move to this strategy?
    Thanks again

    • @pico_barney
      @pico_barney Рік тому

      Hi Douglas, I've replied to this message twice already but the replies keeping getting deleted. In short, PS7A supports both M1 and Intel Macs, as long as they are running the most recent mscOS versions (e.g. either version 12 or 13 as of November 2022).

    • @douglasmontgomery6315
      @douglasmontgomery6315 Рік тому

      @@pico_barney , I'm aware it supports both M1 & Intel based Mac's. However, on an M1, it uses Rosetta to translate the Intel based code to ARM64 (M1). Most modern day applications for MAC use whats called a "universal binary" that during the install will check the processor (M1 - ARM64 or Intel - X86) and install the appropriate code for the processor. So, if Pico in the future uses Universal Binaries for Mac's. Then when an M1 user, like me installs the SW. They will get a native M1 (ARM64) application. This has many inherent benefits for M1 users.

      Hi @@douglasmontgomery6315. I've checked where we are with this with the dev team. We are looking to have full ARM64 support in around Q4 next year so going forward we will be able to have the benefits you mention. In the meantime... there are other cross-platform improvements we are looking to make, so keep an eye out for those through 2023...

      @@pico_barney. Quite right, Barney; I could have phrased it better.: ‘moderated’ carries extra undertones nowadays. (I don’t know how feasible for a malicious infection to be unintentionally uploaded at the same time, but, given how serious Pico views cybersecurity, I presume that a virus check is also part of the plausibility check.) I forgot to add how pleased I was that all the PS6 waveforms got imported across. I’m not sure why, but I was half expecting the PS6 waveform library to become defunct.
      Finally, Pico will always have my support; it’s a pleasure to do so.
      Best wishes
      Martin
