Yeah, the huge amount of time it takes to beat Elden Ring (unless you're insanely good) discouraged me from doing anything beyond NG+ because it takes a while to get through everything. Unique challenge runs, the Randomizer and other mods such as Convergence are the only things that keep me playing ER. A shorter game like DS3 I feel like I could pop in every day, run it, then immediately do it again because it's so good. I don't mean any disrespect to ER either because it is my personal favorite, but the replay value is not as good unless you have mods or come up with a challenge run that fits your skill set. A cool run I'm doing currently is Elden Ring but I'm only allowed to be in Caelid, and the main objective is to beat every Caelid boss and then Radahn, whilst never leaving Caelid except to get Melina, the crafting kit and the Physick Flask at the start. Pretty fun but also difficult to start as a level 1 Wretch and survive exclusively in Caelid... Anyways I agree that DS3's shorter length overall gives it more replay value, and I'd rather have a short game jampacked with awesome content than a long, drawn out game with not much to do. Luckily Elden Ring has plenty to do, but it's harder to stay invested in going through all the tiers of NG+ when each run is already pretty long, at least for someone like me who's decent but not speedrunner level good. Sorry for writing a whole dang essay; my comment is longer than Miyazaki's lore-heavy excuses for adding in more poison swamps to his games

DSIII OST is absolutely amazing, and it's got some crazy bosses. What I think is lacking is the fact the game is very linear and the fact that the combat really is just dodge R1; you can do other stuff, but it is just optimal. Elden Ring really improved upon DSIII's combat in that regard; R1 spam is still viable, but it's optimal to use charge attacks, jump attacks, and ashes of war, which just makes the game more varied. Still, I really do like how DSIII's combat plays, even if it is a little monotone.
@@QuindariousGooch631 Since Dark Souls 2 and the 2nd half of Dark Souls 1 exist, I have to disagree. Some areas can be boring, but they don't reach the frustration I experienced with Tomb of Giants, Lost Izalith or all the boss runs in DS2.
While R1 spam can be strong, I don't feel like Elden Ring's solution was a graceful one. Enemies and bosses are agressive in a manner that deters the player from approaching at all and playing extremely defensive. And personally speaking, I find that really boring. Greatswords in DS3 are a lot of fun because bosses allow for a lot of agressive play with even the slower weapons without instantly getting punished the way many of the later bosses in ER do. I think this is moreso a sign of the combat system showing its limitations. Bloodborne and Sekiro found new ways to challenge the player by majorly shaking up the player's abillities, and being able to create new bosses and enemies that can match the player's abillities.
