As a volleyball player I think India should focus more on other sports rather than just cricket..The synchronization between Japan's team and India's team has a HUGE gap. I hope in future Indian team will match up to other teams

The main difference between two teams were the actions and relation between teammates. It seemed as if Japan brushed off mistakes and accepted what happened, when India seemed a little agitated of the teammate who was at fault. Japan’s teamwork is what makes them such a great team.

I played in India , an I see the coaches mentality they just choose tall players but not powerful attacking aggressive average height players an demoralizing the volleyball in India an when Indian team goes to play international volleyball watching it is really shameful getting beaten very badly like kids in front of other teams players an their dominance
yeah..i agree with "tall players supremacy" part....also the libero is not that quick (wrestler build). and the effect of court they practice on can be seen here there is a huge difference in receiving style.(you can see when he's defending, he is not backing up his hands that gives lesser control over the ball).

@@balobogo9592 hahaha i am also an under 17 Indian volleyball player and i know how they were selected for Indian volleyball players there are hundreds of player that can beat this squad..i have many friends who are deserving Indian national volleyball team but the coaches just prefer to their known one...As a proof you can check there were match almost 5 years ago between Indian national volleyball team and Indian BSF team and BSF won that match by 3/0....And lastly if you are challenging me for one million i am agree if you could convince Indian volleyball team...

Japanese team is a force to reckoned with.. Infact,they are the only Asian country that put up a good fight against those European and Western countries,be it in Football or Volleyball or any indoor games and other as well despite their physical disadvantage.. Just look at our Indian players who have physical advantage over the Japanese team but still losing it...
Its a shame... We Indians need to give equal importantance to other sports as well and not only in Cricket.. I'm sure we can do it too if given attention to every sports as well apart from Cricket cuz just like we were able to dominate in Cricket internationally, its possible to do it in other sports as well.. It will take time but if given the chance and attention we will get there sooner or later...

As far as ik, almost everyone in the japanese volleyball team be it playing VI or ones on the bench hit the gym regularly, take a balanced diet and are pretty buffed as compared to their indian counterparts. So, i can't see india being physically advantaged over the japanese.

Miyaura also played in previous world championship in place of Nishida when he was injured but have to improve our indian team as japan roght now is really on another level and addition of Nishida is like making them a great team. Japan is hot man, they look young but professional and fit. The whole team have one spirit
I have seen Japanese teams practicing always. And there coaches are way more impressive than Indian coaches. Our Indian team players just enjoy the supremacy of being the national team player. If only India would have given emphasize to all the games equally and not only cricket then surely India would have have produced worlds best players. Look at japanese libero. He's so quick and agile. And look at Indian libero he barely can receive a Japanese spike. I mean why should a libero be that bulky that he can't even step out hus foot properly. Its all just corruption going on inside our country.

I think first of all we need to change the whole management , especially the coach, of Indian volleyball federation (VFI) ... to change the mindset of players and the goal of the team.
There is no scarcity of talent in our country but we need to find them out and train them for the international level...need fresh mind for fresh planning .....

We have a strong team in the future waiting but the thing is that some incentives should be there for players putting in day to day hard work,many players leave volleyball due to their parents wanting them to do a "real" job so good enough incentives to make a comfortable living+world class training (technically,physically and mentally)

Recently, I started having an interest in volleyball. Being an Indian, I must say that people should focus on other sports and not only cricket. The Indian team was able to spike but their recieving was poor. The Japanese team had amazing coordination, recieving and spiking.
Most of the points that India scored is through Japan team mistakes not through Indian players talent. Sad to see

In case of vollyball Japan has vollyball club in their schools in terms of extra curricular activities also they organize middle school and high school tournaments but in India all schools only focuses on our studies

Allover the defense seemed to be very weak in this match..know that Japan's game is very good but still we should put up much more combined teamplay with good blocking,defending and above all attacking..the body language seemed to be down from the very start..where is counterattack??many points were given just like this..you can't play like this against top opponents..and yes the weakest link in our team is clearly our libero..many point gone through him..his deffense should have been a lot better..
Indian team players are very good but lack of practice and team spirit.

I agree, the libero is supposed to be one of the most important position of defense. Even the form of the libero while receiving the ball was very poor making the the ball go all over the place. And then to top it off all the player start to gather at same position when japan attacks leaving japan a lot of gaps to attack on.

I don't know much about volleyball but it's nice to watch. Also, I wonder why tall people don't learn to jump high in volleyball. I mean if they jump high and the setter sets it very high, there is no way to block it for shorter players.

In recent years government is flowing money in developing sports culture in India neerajs gold, hockey bronze and other 5 medals are result of it. And don't forget paralympics. We lost because we were not Good as simple as it is. This blame game will not work. We will keep blaming and end result will always be 0.
Japan has traditionally been a powerhouse of volleyball. I hope more money and talent is pulled into volleyball from every state in India. This sport needs a push at school and college level else we cant see much coming out in this space. I see mostly southern team members and need more participation from other states where talent exists. We are not a sports focused nation although we have enormous talents who need grooming and time.
