I didnt know about this product. I had a tear in my hubba. I just got a piece of spare mesh and sewed it in. Years later, it still works great.

I use the clear gorilla tape for all my tent repairs. As long as you make sure it has a flush contact & use tape on both inside & outside of the repair...it's a waterproof seal again! Good luck if this helps anyone

Using a clipboard with wax paper "clipped on" it and then putting it under the hole while first patching has always worked well for me to give it a flat surface.

Great video. First of this type for you. I like it. My Bulldog tried to run out of my Shangra 3 tent and the screen wasn’t open. Pulled the tent down and left several small holes. I love this tent as much as you so I will be patching it up. THANKS!

Thanks for the thorough tutorial, especially pre-cleaning with alcohol. I should know this from other adhesive items I've applied. I'm going to fix my tent tonight, it has two holes, much smaller than those.

Honestly, I've found duct tape works really well for holes like that. I burned a hole in my rain fly a few years ago. Patched it with duct tape (both sides) and it has been golden, even with heavy rains....

Good to see there's something on the market for net repair, however... I bought a sample piece of ripstop nylon from ebay (15x15cm 1GBP) and a cheap mosquito headnet (very inexpensive). Going to make a square patch of netting with a ripstop nylon border and sew that to the damaged net of the tent. Confident it'll give a much better end result than those MSR patches.

Idea: compare a few different mesh repair kits?
You said that there are some that perform badly, so I thought it could be good to see what that is like and watch out for, and compare with some "intermediate" ones.
I understand that a test like that could be costly and complicated, and that you could never cover every kit on the market, but it could be useful.
Anyway, great video, good review, keep it up.

Is that really a mesh patch, or just a plastic tape patch with a mesh pattern printed on it? The patch looked solid (ie, no air could pass through).

Any adhesive patch is going to have a solid layer of the adhesive. The main difference from the usual fabric patch is visual impact. If airflow is important to you, sew a piece of mesh on.

I like to place a board or book behind the hole so I can press it on flat and really rub the edges to adhere. Your hand is concave and doesn't work as well. Results for both technically and aesthetically, this is a good way to do it on a flat surface. I have some holes that are just a bit bigger than pinholes, do you think clear silicone glue would be good to basically just plug up the hole? I was going to use #6000 but afraid it would devour the nylon screening.

Hi, love the channel. Question: I bought this cheap tarp off amazon to shade my patio deck from sun and rain. The first time I set up the tarp to my deck posts one of the loops ripped the actual tarp a tiny bit. After 2 days of being up in some pretty high winds that small tear, ripped right down the length of the tarp just inside the loops on the tarp itself, it's several feet long that rip. Do you think tenacious tape could fix that and it actually hold up to those same winds? Opinion? Thanks bud!!!

Kenyon repair tape. Comes in different colours . I used it to repair a torn tent stay point on my one tigress hotty tent when I tripped over its guy rope. It is also adhesive backed. Also the batch that i used was about 30 years old. -Always wondered what it was for. I got out the needle and thread too because the stay has to be strong and I added extra stitching to counter any pulling forces.
