    I wasn't aware of Louie Katz, but I loved his sweet-natured personality and good advice, which has made me want to watch his special.

    Little sad no one asked the first caller if the brother is sober now, and/or suggested that they at least try to make amends. Someone in my immediate family was a whole mess for 40 years but now is sober, and so now I advocate to let other fam let them come to things.

      Oh well my Sister‘s name is Courtney. We were always super close until she got married and had kids. Now she’s very wealthy and snobby and after her second child gained a lot of weight and was really cold to me when we met at my parents house for Christmas. She and my mother kept claiming that I was on drugs Which I was not. I don’t even drink. I’m a runner and I guess I was super lean… And maybe they weren’t used to that ? Anyhow, we didn’t speak for about six years and now that my mother and I have kind of rekindled our relationship, I am invited for Thanksgiving, but Christmas is always reserved for my sister and her family to come up. It’s sad because I wish that I could be involved , invited for every holiday.

    Natasha doesn't know the designer of her dress because she buys vintage... which is kinda like adopting a dog. It's a stretch but I'm going with it. Shelters are overrun as it is. You can save a life and find the next pup for your family (yes, you can even find a breed you're looking for) at a shelter. Plus, you can do a foster-to-adopt program so you can be sure it's the right fit.
    The first caller seems so sweet and exhausted. I've been in your shoes and they nailed it - sometimes the reinforcement of boundaries is harder than the actual enforcement of a boundary. Plus, if your shitty brother is a maga idiot, he believes in not giving a shit about other people. He can find his way to the holidays or someone else can foot the bill and the headache.

    I can’t even imagine dating a 43yr old man when I was 20. I dated a 25yr old when I was 20 and that seems super old to me at the time. You’re still barely out of high school when you’re 20. 43yr old men looking to date 20yr olds must be really immature and more likely to be abusive bc they like that control.

    • @davehopeless
      @davehopeless Рік тому

      I think it's way more likely that a 43 year old man would be just happy to be there and as a result get taken advantage of... But I guess sugar babies and only fans aren't a cultural phenomenon are they? 🤭

    Nothing wrong with pure breeds if they are bred professionally. The American views on "adopt dont shop" only exists because there aren't tight restrictions and regulations for proper licensing to breed pure bred dogs. There is extremely regulated breeding laws in countries like Germany where you'd get fined and arrested for improper breeding practices and there are practically zero shelters because of theses rules. All dogs were created by man, dogs weren't brought to earth as "mixed" breeds lol. There's nothing natural about it. Whats ultimately really sad is how uncultured Americans are about dog breeds.. pure breeds should be celebrated and bred with regulations from the state governments. That all being said, both sheltered dogs and pure bred dogs can co-exist in America and there shouldn't be hate towards either side.

    Some important questions to ask your call in...
    Who's the older brother?
    Cause shit might have been harder on the older kid. Especially if there was no dad in the picture.
    So little brother in that case got to be as sensitive as he wants to be because older brother sacrificed himself to the streets after spending adolescence helping raise him instead of preparing for nursing school.
    Flip side, if call in is the elder sibling... He might have been unable to handle the wrangling of a young dude with regular dude motivation's and influences. So mom is trying to get him to be the example she's depending on him to be when she's not around anymore. Which is also a lot... But it's the responsibility of the eldest, to be that when it matters. Don't have to like it.
    The difference between family and friends is usually you like you're friend's but you don't have to do crazy stuff them. Understanding that you probably do anyway should eventually help you realize it's not that hard to get through thanksgiving dinner because it's not even a real holiday.
    I can't remember if it was Jung or Freud who said the things we don't like in others are usually a reflection of things we don't like about ourselves. And the fact that I can't remember which one said that but I can remember my grandparents phone number that hasn't been connected for 20 year's definitely bother's all of my family members.
    People have a tendency to leave out essential information like that when it doesn't suit their personal narratives.
    🤷🥸
