  • A mercy killing, The Acolyte has been put out of its mewling misery to the wails of tiktokers everywhere.
But did it ever really have a chance?
In the end it wasn't killed by Disney
It wasn't killed by toxic fans
    It was killed by numbers.

I think they severely misunderstood the South Park episode.
Cartman: make it lame and gay!
    Lucasfilms: is this an assignment?

You could practically see Leslye's eyes lighting up. I wonder if Matt and Trey will have a pop at her. She deserves it.

    What is best in life?
To mock The Acolyte, see it cancelled before you, and to hear the lamentation of the shills.

The recent attack on UA-camrs was pathetic. I am working on a video on the importance of free speech atm as a response.

For the last time it cost $230 MILLION DOLLARS - the $180 million is AFTER the UK tax breaks, and is a figure used to downplay the high cost of the film.
One of the largest wastes was the music. The 'Power of Many' song (which was made into a purchasable track), used singers, writers, musicians from various countries, races and cultures from around the world - Leslye Headland insisted on this to 'reflect the true diversity of the song'.
So instead of outsourcing locally to England, Wales (fantastic Enya-like Welsh singers) or Ireland (Irish singers too are awesome) for say $50-60 thousand dollars, they probably spent near or over a million dollars to house, train, translate and support these international talents who turned up from around the globe just for one song.

Bill Burr with his WNBA joke routine, very much applies here. Even if there was negative talk about the show, if the show did not suck, it would at the very least churn some viewers to support it, that werent just "HATE WATCHING" it or watching it on the premise of being a cult niche because its so bad like "the room" "pink flamingos" "this is spinal tap" etc. there would still be viewership IF the show was even halfway decent. IT is NOT. cant blame the fans for their own failures to create ENTERTAINMENT.

You know it was party to an active campaign by conservatives (who never cared for SW anyway) to dismiss & vilify it from its outset. You will never convince me otherwise (15% RT is nothing but bombing with a majority never having watched it). Most of the comments & criticisms were focused on the ‘politics’ of the actors, the story or the production & promotion.
If people would admit they hated the progressive values it represented then I can understand their anxieties about this show. But they generally don’t & make claims about bad acting, poor writing, terrible production - all of which are palpable not true.
The other thing that cements the assertion that it’s ‘political’ is the joy & celebration of a show getting cancelled. Not, it could or should have been better, why didn’t they do this or that, rather an absolute triumph in its cancellation.
It’s a shame imo, it certainly had flaws, primarily with pacing, but was one of the better SW shows to be produced. Certainly better than Boba Fett & even Obi-Wahn. Anyway essay comment over. Let’s hope the conservatives don’t fuck up everything that’s made, because it’ll certainly get dull & boring out there.

Personally? I think that $180 mil budget went to KK buying Harvey's black book off of Headland and the show was just a cover for the transaction. Everything about it seemed like an after thought which didn't even make sense in the context of its own skewed logic, ethics and morals

Kenobi and Asoka have been the only series that are written that are good. Stubborn CEO. Its not about race it is the bad writing and destroying legacy of stories to fit current lifestyle agenda issues. Look at Godzilla Minus One with 15 million budget. Nominated for best picture. Writing is 10 times better then the Godzilla vs King Kong Movies. Acolytes made the Jedi order out to be kidnappers, murders, covering up murders, framing a Jedi for murders, lying to the senate. Final kick in the balks is at the end Yoda was involved and implies he was okay with this.

The actors and executives trying to blame this disaster on bigotry is like trying to blame a Steven Segal awful movie ratings due to racist fan response. Then again how bad is it when you immediately think of Steven Segal when you try to watch this turd of a series.

    I watched the Acolyte.
Unforunately, it was very bad and I was disappointed.
Osha's mandatory droid companion looks like a cassette tape player from the 1980's. It couldn't even move. what was the point of it.
Yes, Sol was my favourite character. At least he's trying, it's not his fault the show is so bad.
Disney may end up purging the Acolyte from Disney+ so it can be claimed as a tax write off.

It's called deconstruction. Turns out hardcore fans don't enjoy it very much, or rather, don't enjoy it when made in a lousy way.
Clone wars did show the Jedi order as failing its mission, features a bunch of very compelling female characters ( Ashoka, Padme, the Sith apprentice of Dooku), and it was a fan favourite. Why? Because they respected the lore and did a good job writing it. I watched with my son, and found the beginning of it quite childish, but very quickly evolved into a more mature show. I remember when Ashoka was falsely accused and then abandoned the Jedi order. The emotional charge of those scenes was felt... For a cartoon!
