    Thanks for the video. The only good one of the S1 pro. Backed it just yesterday based on this review! For someone like me with 90% hard floors and a kitchen that sees use everyday, mopping performance is waay more important that carpet vacuuming power. Having so many options does make decision making that much more complicated but given how everyone's situation is just a little bit different (carpet vs hard floor, kids, pets, liquid messes, hair, home layout, priorities, privacy etc.) I feel it's a good thing.
    And people like you make this easier for the rest of us. Most other videos are either infomercials or straight up sponsored by the company itself. If you're just going to list all the bot's features that I can find myself on their website, why am I even watching you?!
    Edited to add: I hadn't even heard of this one until I saw your review pop up. So great timing!

    This is the best review I've seen of the S1 Pro. The others are like commercials. The mop looks impressive, but having just used a similar style mop roller in my Tineco S5 Pro in a house with 2 small, short-haired dogs, I wonder if the Eufy would get clogged with pet hair and leave clumps of it around the house like the Tineco mop did. I can't imagine the robot being able to clean out all the pet hair I had from itself without human intervention - and mind you, I vacuum my house regularly and there was no visible pet hair on the floor before mopping with the Tineco.
    That said, the mopping system does look well ahead of the ones I've seen (and used) on other robots. I use a Roborock S7 and it's excellent, but there's no way dragging around a damp pad will clean as well as a roller that's scraped clean as it rotates.

    Great review and informative. I have one on order and after this review I am pleased with my choice. It seems that some of the cons you mentioned could be fixed with future software updates. The easiest I’m sure is include a mop only mode with no vacuum. That would be excellent for quick spill cleanups.

    Definitely buying this to replace my Roborock. Also looks like way better value for money vs. the S8 MaxV Ultra, which only beats it in carpet pickup. For everything else though, this is better and can be had for much cheaper at $999 on Kickstarter vs. $1799 for the S8. I hope this pushes Roborock to innovate more or lower their prices. Their only advantage is in carpet cleaning now.

We currently only have an iLife v3 bump around that I used while I am doing dishes just to keep up with the pet hair. But with 2 kids and both cats and dogs, excellent obstacle avoidance is a must for me to upgrade to a high priced robot. This looks like it will be a game changer for me. New subscriber here! I like your review style and throurough, unbiased information. My consern with all robot vacuums/ mop combinations is that they might damage hardwood floors. I have a 2500 sq foot home that is all hardwood except for tile in bathrooms. (wood plus some area rugs) Seems like the mop roller in the Mach s1 Pro wouldn't leave much water on the floor as spinning pads or flat pads. Is the floor pretty dry after it passes? No one ever mentions that in these robot reviews. Water is a hardwood floor's worst enemy.

    Thanks for the review. I was an early backer for this vacuum but I think the residual water in the onboard dirty water bin, plus the filter cleaning is going to be a dealbreaker for me. I saw it briefly mentioned on a few other reviews, but yours went more in depth also showing the amount of dirt accumulated on the dock that would need to be cleaned. On what on paper and in every other test looks like an excellent vacuum, it's unfortunate the amount of additional maintenance the self-cleaning roller mop would incur. I'll probably hold out for a gen 2 product that solves the dirt issue and residual water issue as a result. Though, I do wonder if Eufy could have put a set of UV sterilization lights in the dirty water bin to prevent bacteria growth and prevent that growing funk odor.

    • @Brendon471
      @Brendon471 Місяць тому +2

      If you think about it, it’s really not much maintenance. I remember seeing a comment from Eufy on their Kickstarter where they explained that the ozonated water prevents odors from building up quickly by sterilizing the clean water that it uses to constantly clean the mop. I doubt it’ll fully prevent bacteria from growing/producing smells, but it should make it take longer for that to happen. And with a regular mopping schedule, that tiny bit of residual water left in the tank should get flushed out before there’s any chance for new bacteria to grow and start to smell. That leaves just the dirty tank mesh screen as the only thing that will need occasional cleaning, and all that requires is a quick rinse.
      Compare that to the S8 MaxV Ultra review where it has added maintenance for its new rotating edge mop and new extending arm brush-both got so tangled with hair that they stopped spinning and the hair was shown to be quite difficult to remove. That’s on top of the hair tangles it got on the axles for both of its main brush bars which Jamie also said was difficult to remove. So that’s four total areas that will require frequent, time consuming maintenance.
      To me that sounds like much more hassle than simply rinsing a mesh screen every once in a while.

To my eyes that makes it more intrusive than the shorter and squatter docks such as the Eufy X10, Roborock s8 MaxV Ultra or upcoming Dreame X40. A shorter dock gives more options to tuck it under a shelf/table/worktop etc and the latest Roborock & Dreame will be offering the option of even shorter fully plumbed docks which gives even more options for tucking the dock out of the way.

      The tall profile is actually a feature for me, it means we don't have to bend over when emptying the tanks or filling them up. The buttons for the dock are also more accessible this way. I want to buy my first robot vacuum cleaner soon, buth the choices are becoming increasingly difficult for me😢😢 Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, Dreame X40 Ultra or this Eufy S1 Pro
    - Roborock is ridiculously expensive and has some software bugs, buth vacuuming and mopping corners looks good. Software looks good and parts are readily available.
    - Dreame has about the same functions and also has extra the function that can cut hairs. Could be useful for my home situation.
    - Eufy lowest suction power, this is also visible during the tests. Corners are not vacuumed properly and edge mopping is also not good. Has very good object recognition that can be very useful and Mopping harder and better on the floor? Especially when mopping and cleaning the brush at the same time. As Jamie also says, dirt doesn't go through your house during the mopping.
    My house consists of laminate, 1 carpet ~ 3,50m² and straight skirting boards against the wall. Sleek, simple and well tidy at home. Does anyone have any advice as to which brand would be best for me? Vacuuming and mopping are of course important.

      Go with the S1 to lock in the $999 Kickstarter price and if you don’t like it, return it. Eufy has said they’ll honor their 30 day return policy even for Kickstarter backers, so you really have nothing to lose other than saving yourself a ton of money over retail in the event that you do end up liking it.
      One thing that you also shouldn’t overlook when picking your first robovac is their level of autonomy and how much pre-cleaning they require. This is something I didn’t even think about when getting my Roborock Q Revo, which gets tangled in cables and socks all the time. It’s really annoying having to go find and rescue it since the whole point of these bots is to do your daily cleaning with as little interaction from you as possible. This is where the S1 shines since its obstacle avoidance is best in class. You can truly set it and forget it, never having to worry about stray cables, socks, or other things around your house.
      That also somewhat addresses your suction power concern as you can just set it on a schedule to do a double pass in the dirtiest rooms. With its high level of autonomy, it’ll do that double pass without you even noticing or thinking about it since it will never get itself stuck anywhere. All you’ll notice is clean floors.
      Hopefully this helps a bit with your decision making! :)

      I have a Q Revo (not the new one). It cleans decently well with only average vacuum performance, decent mopping ability, and truly horrible obstacle avoidance. Mine gets caught up in cables all the time and frequently needs rescuing. If you don't mind pre-cleaning before it cleans then you'd like it, but this is significantly better at basically everything the Q Revo does. The new Q Revo at least improves on the suction and has slightly improved mopping, but it has the same setup for obstacle avoidance so I expect that to be just as bad as on the first one. Basically, if you want a robot vacuum that you can set and forget, the Q Revo is not that.

      Can't say I disagree. What needs to happen is a complate drain of the onboard dirty water tank and then a rinse. I'm not sure how to get around not cleaning a filter though. It seems if a robot is going to clean itself while mopping the process of cleaning the filter moves from the dock to the robot.

    • @Brendon471
      @Brendon471 Місяць тому +2

      To be fair, they all require some maintenance. Just look at Jamie’s S8 MaxV Ultra review where he showed it needing additional hair removal from the new extending side arm (which stops rotating when tangled) and the new rotating edge mop which also gets tangled. That’s on top of the two vacuum rollers, which both got hair tangled in them that was difficult to remove from the axles.
      That is way, way more time consuming and tedious than just a simple rinse of the dirty tank mesh screen that the S1 has. I’d also guess that with daily scheduled cleaning, the dirty water tank will get flushed out well before any standing water in the tank starts to smell.
      I wouldn’t be surprised if future bots integrate a mesh cleaning system along with a dirty water tank drying system to solve both of these problems. I’m guessing we’ll see a similar style roller mop in the Roborock S9 next year, so it’ll be very interesting to see how other companies improve on this going forward.

    The thing doesn't even extend the spinning brushes or the mop so the corners are not gonna get cleaned. This robot is already obsolete.

    Can someone explain to me the appeal of this over the Eufy X10? It seems like the X10 is the better all- rounder. Especially given the cheaper price. Heck, based on what I'm seeing here, I'd get the X10 if the S1 were the same price.

      I should do a comparison video. The good news is there a choices now and people can decide what they want.
      The X10 lacks detergent injection, self cleaning mop that removes dirty water while mopping, it also has a much worse roller brush that is prone to get hair tangled on it. Also the vacuum performance is a good bit worse.
      The only positive things for the X10 are price and a bit less maintence.
      Hope this helps some.

      If I get enough requests I may do a comparison video, but personally I feel they are way too different for a sir by side comparison. I have reviewed both on my channel and they are so very different with features and price I would say it would come down to budget and if someone want to pay for the extra features of the S8 MaxV.

    All these maintenance items make this thing a loser. Bag and proprietary detergent just reduces the "maintenance free" thing robot vacuums are trying to go through

    • @justmaybe5643
      @justmaybe5643 Місяць тому

      Use whatever detergent you want. Plenty on the market meant specifically for machine mops. Just need one that doesn't foam up.
      But yeah... all robo vacs have various parts to nickel and dime you. Sacrificing one convenience for another

      Yea I figured several people could be turned off by extra maintenance which is a tradeoff for having a dirty water tank on the robot that removes dirty water from your floors. As always there is a tradeoff.

      You kinda cherry picked the things that were the same as other robots lol.
      It has a ozone system for the water tank.
      It has a self cleaning roller mop that lifts 12mm with a self cleaning dock. Pretty sure that is a first. The front mounted lidar that is able to see a whole 220 degrees is the first I have seen with that reach and being front mounted.
      The point is it is very different from many of the robots on the market today.

      @@jamie.andrews Thats very cool! I would love to A: Buy a robot vacuum cleaner without 360 degrees of lidar like pretty much every other robo vac with lidar, and B: Be more lazy by having ozone cleaning (Which will break at some point of the docks lifetime) system for my water tank instead of cleaning it myself! And a mop that only lifts 12mm? I thought the roborock s8 MaxV raised 20mm. Huh thats weird.

      The review was excellent pointing out the features of the robot. The solid implementation of the front mounted LiDAR uniquely allows this robot to actually detect surface level furniture which top mounted LiDAR cannot; even if equipped with front mounted cameras and structured light. This is unique robot with the complete package combined.
      Add a flexi arm for the front brush, liftable vacuum brush roller, and self cleaning/flush of the dirty water tank and screen, improved carpet pickup (may be brush related), and this will be a superb model. Those are just about all existing features in the Industry so maybe next years model.

    For anyone interested in the S1, you can still get it for the Kickstarter price by following Eufy’s instructions here: “Visit our project page → Click on our creator's profile name → Navigate to the bottom of the bio page → Click the blue "Contact Me" button to send us a message with your email address.”
