    Dope videos. Very helpful.
    One question I have for you is, I notice in some videos you filter out the sample to 0-20 in PARAMS. Are you triggering the filtered out chops underneath the sample at the same time? If so, do you even run into any phasing issues, or sounds cancelling each other out? I am only listening on laptop speakers so it's sometimes difficult to hear what the bass is doing. Any input is appreciated.
    Keep up the good work man.

    Lol man watching these videos got me over here tryna get that MPC style chopping in slicer or slicex. Shit making me tight.

    • @dubsbanger
      @dubsbanger  8 років тому

      +Darion Loving yeah homie you can make the same style beats with the slicex shits dope... even assign them to the midi keysboard or even your own computer keyboard and use them as mpc pads...

    • @ScottESippin
      @ScottESippin 8 років тому

      +Dubs Banger yeah the only thing is, I don't know about time stretching in slicex. If the tempo and slow as hell, idk how to speed it up. And do you chop even amounts for each pad like 2 beats each or one beat or bar or just chop at the kick and snare because when I be tryna piece them together, shit don't be sounding as official.

    • @dubsbanger
      @dubsbanger  8 років тому +1

      Darion Loving
      i just usually take sounds from records with no tempo... i speed it up or slow it down to what sounds best to my ear... if i do chop up loops i chop them at the kick and snare so i can rearrange it to my liking and switch up my sample sequences... you can do what i call is a poor mans time stretch and just put an echo on the sample to fill it the gap

    • @ScottESippin
      @ScottESippin 8 років тому

      +Dubs Banger truly appreciated fam. I been tryna step outside the whole looping box. That shit gets old fast and with slicex I don't think you can stretch it, just pitch it up or down. I been messing around with it for the past few days. Last question, when you chop a sample or piece, do you make them even like 1 or 2 beats each or just whatever you like?

    • @dubsbanger
      @dubsbanger  8 років тому +1

      Darion Loving
      i just take the sample with no bpms or anything just the sound itself... theyre all different lengths some really short some really long

    • @dubsbanger
      @dubsbanger  9 років тому +3

      +timisaurus its about the right samples its about training your ear to pick out specific sounds that would go together in a beat... when listening to the music you cant listen to it to enjoy the music youre trying to sample... youre trying to dissect it into pieces and sounds and blips... just some advice when listening for samples...

    awesome work!!!what bpm do you use?cheers

    • @dubsbanger
      @dubsbanger  9 років тому +1

      drakestar13 i use double time so normal bpms would be 90 i would use 180. its more convenient to place drums and use 1/16 and a third timing (when i use to use the quantize) now i just use my ear like a natural drummer for placing my drum kicks and snares and hi hats

    been confused on creating 4 bar loops , I know that you start by making 2 bars and double it but what if you wanted to change up the pattern in the third and bring back the first bar into the 4th? Are there rules to doing this or just being creative as long as you double it to make it a 8th bar loop?

    • @dubsbanger
      @dubsbanger  7 років тому +1

      i just basically show you 8 bars as an example i dont show you the full beat... there is absolutely no rules to making beats usually its 16 bars and then a 8 bar chorus but realistically you can do whatever amount of bars you want for how long and switch it up

  • @Kryptdegen

    Can you be more specific on the attack part? do you lower or increase the attack for some samples or all of them? Also not music related but i always wanted to ask; is that an ed wood (johnny depp) tat on your hand?

      +brandon alex i cant recommend any sample for you as it's what you do with the sample and what you make out of it, its not how it sounds when you listen to it its how it sounds after you've chopped it and manipulated it

      +Dubs Banger right I feel you I was thinking maybe anita Baker-You're my angel for a single im an rap artist I have a cd I want to present it's nothing like your average I promise a lot of people rap music with no message and concept I have a album it's gonna be titled broken promises & Shattered Dreams it's going to be real nice....I like how you do your samples it's nice do you dj?and where do you live?...im really trying to get that song chopped in a nice way to use it and I would be willing to pay for it on a nice beat also I have everything else in line I would like to consider my work on a positive,heartfelt,with messages type level I dont really have influences but I know real music when I hear it lyrics,delivery,and etc I listen for all types of things I'm not a fan of many rap artist I stay in my own lane when you listen to artists the more you may develop a sound like them but I'm a fan of all genre's of music I love soul I listen to Kendrick lamar and a few more but I create my own sound when I'm finish I promise you will hear about me i won't be denied I won't give up until I'm heard I have a testimony ....if Its not a problem I would love to have you chop that sound up I have a gmail if it's anyway possible we can get in touch let me know because I'm willing to pay because that will complete my art. I need that song I heard it chopped before someone uploaded but it's never been used and I think it could be done better so let me know what you think and what we can do

    Do you always play chops at tempo of sample? I'm having trouble doing flips , I've had a few that were successful but I always end up playing them at a different tempo.

    • @dubsbanger
      @dubsbanger  9 років тому +1

      EnBeez the EmCee i rarely play the same tempo as the original sample... they way i chop i make it so i can play it at whatever tempo i want to

    • @DaLilMobsta
      @DaLilMobsta 9 років тому

      How do you find the tempo that you play the chops at??? I'm having trouble with that in maschine

    • @dubsbanger
      @dubsbanger  9 років тому

      EnBeez the EmCee it depends what kind of chops you have and if you pitch them up or down. if youre looping samples then you have to play around with the tempo until your beat loops perfectly and then you add drums and snares to it after... what exactly are you trying to do and how are your chops?..... you basically want you kik and snares to land perfectly so your beat can play over and over in the perfect tempo

    • @DaLilMobsta
      @DaLilMobsta 9 років тому

      yeah I have trouble explaining it, I've done lots of loop beats so far which is easy to find tempo you just stretch to your liking. With chops though I play them how I want them and I can never figure out the tempo. I play in maschine so ill play at default 120 BPM and do a 1 bar loop or something and it will be 2.5 bars on the screen. Not sure how to detect tempo of the speed I played at if you know what I mean. I end up figuring it out going up down a few tempo and keep replaying but it seems tedious and takes a long time

    • @dubsbanger
      @dubsbanger  9 років тому +2

      EnBeez the EmCee before laying down your chops do the tempo of the beat with the snare just for a layout. What i mean is have the sanre hitting 4 times in your beat as if the beat was there like a drum loop. start off your tempo at 170. when youre using 120 double time time the beats really 60 bpms. if youre not a fan of double time keep your bpms from 80-90 bpms (thats 160-180 double time). when youre listening to my beats the timing is double timing and theyre sually from 176-186 bpm (which is 88-93 bpms) once you lay down your 4 snares (boom boom snare) (boom boom snare)etc... then you can start to play around with chops and try and fit them in and adjust your bpms down up up accordingly... lemme know if you understand this and if it helps
