I'm 73.. Hearing hearing this today , and many years ago.. This band here makes me happy.. Only if I can still skate.. I'm killing this in skating rink. NY..BK QB
This song permeated my consciousness one night on late night radio in the 70s on WBLS New York. I didn't know what it was, but I knew I loved it. I had only known about TSOP through the "SoulTrain Theme" and was pulled in by that melody and particular dance break. Because I was a Barry White - Love Unlimited Orchestra fanatic, I found out through "borrowing" this album from my sister and discovering this gem of a tune. At the time, I had always wished the break was longer, and later got my wish with the remix and so loved how the long play was celebrated on the dancefloor. "Love is the Message" is a masterpiece.

The absolute greatest song of the 70"s. It revolutionized the era of not only Disco...but a definition of what good music is supposed to be. I grew up in Jersey City New Jersey and and started DJing in 78. If you didn't have this jam in your crate....you were looked at as weak. Absolutely a classic.
Wow i remember hearing this song at a after work house party i could not get enough of this record so when MfsB came to new York i had a ticket on the front row it was and is the best concert I've ever attended!
Brings back the days when WEDR in Miami was an independent station, listening to Leo In Stereo from 6 - 10 AM going to (NBN) National Black Network News at 10 before the top of the hour ❤❤❤
OMG, I've been looking for this song for the past 15 years. Found it by humming on Google, didn't even know that was an option. So happy I'm in tears😪 Best sounds ever💙
Still relevant in 2022 "It speaks to the ethos of MFSB, Philly International and Gamble & Huff: love is the message in the face of a dark and increasingly insane world."
I wish I could have done more to show you how much I loved you, dad. But it’s too late now. I’m eternally grateful for being born as your son, and sorry for not acting as such. Rest in peace! December 8th 1964 - June 21st 2020
I love this song for so many years , I hear Dj mixed but did not know who write the song fist time I hear was on BLS radio station in NYC 1979. Now this is year 2022 this May street dancer paired the song and tell me the name of this song and I cannot stop playing it thank you.
I miss the real music of msfb that philly sound was incredible nothing like that today . Thank you for all the great music and artists that passed through . Nothing like that will ever come back.
You have no idea how phenomenal this orchestra was/is back in the day! Growing up in Brooklyn, and hearing played brought the whole neighborhood out to dance. Man, so blessed to have old school R&B in my heart!
One of my favorite tunes from one of the most stellar music outfits of the 70s. To give you some idea of just how far reaching the Philly International sound was l spent my high school years in West Africa when I first heard the tune Sexy along with songs by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes as well as the O Jays
Finishing handball as the sun sets in Lincoln Terrace Park. Dj’s setting up 6 foot speakers for the jam. The six step, hustle was thee moves to have back then. I had them and enjoyed it. As soon as it was pitch black had to go home but could hear the music blasting from the park. Ahhhhhhh, memories.
2022 and this CLASSIC is still the G.O.A.T.!!My brother Reginald Willoughby and I who owned THE CLUB SENSATIONS at 45 Branford PL.Newark NJ for over 20 years watched the dance floor rock to LOVE IS THE MESSAGE year after year from the HUSTLE to BREAK DANCING!!

Very much part of the "Philly Sound" forever!!!
I can't imagine a hit today having such leisurely intro. The way it takes nearly a minute to build to the hook is so exquisite
Ronnie Baker played the bass in numerous styles.

Rest In Peace Mr Bell and thank you for all the beautiful music you gave us.

In a world that is so messed up at the moment, the whole world should listen to this and just dance the night away to this absolute anthem.

That is what it was about back then. Same applies today!
The first time i listened to this wonderfull music i fell in love with the sound of Philadelphia orchestra.
This jam should be elevated to the status of an anthem. A song and a half.
