I live in Portland and I participated in a bike tour of eco-friendly gardens, which included Darcy’s, in 2007. It so completely blew my mind it flipped on the gardening switch in my brain. It’s such a special, dynamic, beautiful space.
I have always loved Darcy’s garden. I’ve been subscribed to her UA-cam channel for quite awhile. I will for sure watch this video more than once. She has such an amazing collection of plants. Thank y’all for a wonderful tour. Love and blessings ❤️❤️❤️
Hey i just gotta tell you, you have one of the best landscape tours on youtube. Thanks I like how you let the people describe their gardens, the what when and why. Thanks for identifying the plants. Your tours really show the people’s garden fever. Bert, an old guy living a grateful life in southern oregon, and a retired landscaper
That is one of the most interesting small garden/jungles I have ever seen. I absolutely love it. Thank you so mush for the 29:30 tour. -- Mount Shasta, CA.
Darcy’s garden attitude very much aligns with mine. I’ve had acres of garden but now I have a tiny challenging north coast California garden. Lots of deer, gophers, raccoons, fox etc. I would love to visit Darcy’s garden someday…SO beautiful!❤
Loved it all. Such a great combination of textures and colors and levels. I got into limbing up shrubs a few years ago, and it really does elevate a garden space. I love that a garden is ever done. It is an ever evolving journey.
Oh wow what a beautiful garden she has created! And its her first garden??? She most definitely has a passionate green thumb! Thanks for sharing! 👍🌸💜Liz from California
I love how relatable you are. Relaxed, knowledgeable in your own right, and so good at encouraging and affirming everyone's little specialties and doing your research. You're delightful.
Omg! This is so beautiful! This is my ideal gardening. I already have the yellow door! Neighbors and other drivers are always slowing down looking. Some have even stopped when I’m outside. I’m a first time gardener and it’s my peace. Thanks for the confirmation! 🏡🪴🫶🏽
Knowing how, in general, Americans LOVE their lawns, I wonder if Darcy received push back; particularly as she also took over the front reserve along the parking strip. Good for her 🧡
Darcy is such a talented human. I love her style. A plants-person and a designer. What an amazing eye for detail. Thank you for sharing her garden with us. Loved all the camera angles with closeup detail as well as overview wide shots. I hope you will visit and film Erin Ray's garden!
@@overthefencetours Portland I believe. Darcy made a video tour of her garden but I would love to see an interview tour to hear how she made her garden. Probably the best garden I've ever seen on the internet is also in Portland, JJ De Sousa's garden. Now that would be an amazing interview. To get into her head to understand how she designed her garden would be amazing.
I live in Oregon also..but…in high desert..it’s so much wetter up there in Portland….mine..not so much..but it was so enjoyable to see her garden…my sister would love it…🙋🏼♀️🌻
Beautiful and inspiring. I love the leaves on the Chamaecyparis 'Iceberg' contrasting with the hosta. We have two umbrella pines and they are Not small. LOL. There is one at the Hulda Klager Lilac gardens that is twice as tall as ours. Definitely a different variety in this garden!
We do have quite a diversity of plants that grow here, but I am so looking forward to making my way out to Colorado to do some tours out there. I love high-desert gardening so much. Pointy cactuses mixed with soft, heat-resistant leafy plants, and rustling grasses, in shades of silver, sage, and purple. Ah it’s gotta be my favorite type of garden. But don’t tell the other gardens I said that 😝
@@overthefencetours Well I certainly am not the one to talk to about gardening in Colorado, this was my 1st year doing it and at least half of what I planted is now dead. LOL There are some great public gardens in Colorado you might want to check out to see the diversity of plants that are grown here and I have seen each of these here on youtube. Check out the Yampa River Botanic Park in Steamboat Springs as well as the public gardens at CSU in Ft Collins and the Denver Botanic gardens where you can see everything from Xeric gardening to much more lush type gardens. Happy Gardening GD
This is a really lovely and well produced video, but I do have a couple suggestions! The music volume is a little loud compared to the voices, particularly where it cuts in with music in between sections of the tour. Second, I am using headphones and noticed that each person's voice is in a different ear. IMO it would be better to flatten this to mono so that both voices come through both channels at once. Thanks for showcasing this lovely garden!
Oh Darcy your garden is stunning. What kind of Japanese maple is the yellow or chartreuse in your backyard in the big pot? I want to get one. I live outside of Nashville. You’re very knowledgeable and I can’t wait to go to your website. Best regards, Linda Hydrick
I love your garden tours so much!!! Wish the camera would pan, and video transition, more slowly though. There's so much to look at and I just start to focus on something interesting and - woops - moved on. Lol 😂
Hahah yes I have gotten this comment more than once and am definitely working on slowing down more often…although at the same time it’s a balance - gotta keep viewers with lower attention spans entertained…😝 Thank you for watching and I’m so glad you enjoy my tours 😊
Hi, Darcy here … sorry to say I don’t have a definitive ID on that one 🤨 Soooo many great hostas to choose from: I suggest looking for ones that you like the look of, at the size you desire, AND (in our area) those that have thick, slug-and-snail-resistant foliage. Hope that helps!
Thunderbolt , Great Expectations, Dream Queen or Weaver there's also a Proven Winners Hudson Bay that looks similar in online photos. I'm not a fan of hostas but that combo is stunning, I don't have Little Honey but might look similar under my Sunking Aralia.
Hi, @@Fragrantbeard I am sorry to hear that. I have not heard that comment before, so I believe it might be on your end. is it possible your resolution on the UA-cam video settings is set to low quality?
You Tube: 🥺 PLEASE consider providing software DESIGNED TO RECORD MUSIC? Many content creators use the wrong software, and just may not know the difference: Because it is NOT designed to record music (unlike one section of the second musical intro), it causes well-meaning creators to add "music" to their videos that are sour in sound, better left off entirely. Wrong software yields music that is distorted, off-key, "under water sounding", and sour. The software used to record the little musical set which intro'd a section at the "2nd beginning", WAS recorded by the right software, software designed to record music. And sounded lovely, therefore.
I like the fence and gate the most. The garden is nice, but clearly your neighbors don't share your vision since they actually have grass. These types of gardens just don't belong is such close proximity to other houses.

All of my friends that visit the Portland/Seattle area come back and tell me I would love it there. Can’t wait to visit one day 🥲
Back again!😂 Darcy’s garden is one of my very favorites! She’s like the Meryl Streep of gardening.❤
Haha So true!!
We need more people like this ….creating more spaces like these….absolutely stunning!!!
This was really fun. Plant people are the best. Go Darcy!

The abundance and variety of plants is amazing. I've never seen a yellow Oakleaf Hydrangea, stunning.
I've been a fan of Darcy's garden and her design for years! I've seen other tours of her garden (video and print), but this one is maybe my favorite!
Thanks, April. I agree Donna did a fantastic job telling the story. I couldn’t be happier with how this came out.
Just a spectacular love for gardening can be seen in every turn of this beautiful space❤❤❤
