I am a crochet lace maker (art hangings not wearables), but I love the engineering of knit. I love watching your videos and then applying whatever I can to crochet. Even if it isn’t a 1:1 relationship between knit and crochet lace, there are still so many principles and transferable skills. Thank you!
It is wonderful to hear that my rambling can be of some benefit to crocheters as well. There is a lot of overlap in materials and concepts, but each art form has it's own idiosyncrasies. I think this video is very much applicable to crochet because I imagine that crochet lace vs solid fabric is a much different size. I don't know much about the techniques used to create mosaic crochet, but I do know it exists. Crochet is more flexible in many ways.
There is nothing I love more than when people talk about these kinds of details and factors that go into works and not just finished objects and wip updates. I could listen to you talk for hours! New subscriber here and a newbie knitter, I love the way you explain information, it clicks with my brain super well. Cheers and much love to you! 💙❤🧶
Guess what? I can talk about knitting for hours LOL! If you have any questions or subjects you'd like to hear my take on, please feel free to ask in a comment. I am always looking for new ideas for videos.
@WatchBarbaraKnit currently watching your video on different types of colour works! Keep on talking! Lol! And I haven't skimmed all your videos yet, so I don't know if this topic is already over done but as a newbie, I'd love to hear more on fixing more complex mistakes. Like I know how to safely frog, lifelines, drop down and ladder up, etc. But I'd love to hear a video on more types of mistakes, like the proper way to fix yarn overs, or ooo how to fix spinal mistakes in triangular shawls, etc that kind of stuff, ya know a little more complicated than just laddering down/up stockinette. I hope this is an idea worth sharing! Cheers and much love to you, thank you so much for your time today 🧶❤💙🎈
I am glad you liked the video! When I do these I often wonder if anyone will geek out to this sort of stuff the way I do LOL! Since you liked the design thoughts, I'll also share that the k1, s1 band serves another purpose. It is there to create a more fitted wrist, but also the thumb gussett starts on the same row. Integrating the thumb gussett directly into the herringbone pattern would have been fiddly so creating that small visual break allowed me to bring in the thumb with minimal fuss. Once the thumb was established and the wrist fitted we could go back to the herringbone. So two birds, one stone!
When I returned to knitting after many years of not knitting, I decided to knit reversible scarves. I was amazed at how the different stitch patterns I used would change to width and length of the scarves. A valuable lesson!
I still watch your channel, you’re one of my favorite knitting creator!!!! Thank you so much for making this video. It was so interesting and helpful. I just started learning cables and I’m hoping to learn lace soon, so this will be super helpful for that as!

This was fantastic! Especially seeing in action in your specific design choices. Thanks for another deep dive

@WatchBarbaraKnit I totally love those insider details and it took those mitts to a whole new level, from ooo those are cute to I need to make those!

Scarves are a really great place to really see the difference.
I am glad that I found this video. You can’t just plug and play, putting a texture into a pattern. Yes, it got me to thinking.
You can do it, you just gotta be smart about it LOL! Yay for thinking.

You can do it! Cables and lace are going to be super fun! Thank you for watching!
Great topic. I was just recommended the book Dimensional Tuck Knitting and was forewarned about how the tuck stitches eat length vertically.
Oh yeah, big time!
I am learning lace right now and no where have I seen that lace can be blocked in several different ways. Mind opening!
Hmmm, that's interesting. I might need to make a video with a visual demonstration of this. Thank you for commenting this!
This was really interesting to consider. Thank you!
Hopefully it sparked some ideas!
Wow; great question ❤❤
I love questions like this!
LoL actually stumbled on that s couple years ago & had to make my own way of doing two color brioche knitting.
It's always fun to make up new stuff!
Interesting info.
I'm glad you found it interesting!
