This is interesting. I’ve collected shells every time I’ve been to the beach but couldn’t understand why their patterns and colours disappeared when they are dry. I’ll have to polish up my entire collection
Hello, usually yes. Over night shall not damage your shells. I personally prefer let them soak for less than 2h. If your shells are beached you take no risk. Use high concentrate bleach.
You'r not dumd, just asking a question. We couldn't leave any shell which is made of calcareous material soaking in any acid as the shell would be attacked and would solved like many minerals sensible to acids like Calcite.

That depends of the type of shells. Cowries you can't do anything when beached for example...
Did you use plain water after the bleach bath?
Hello, yes you have to use water after the bath and then mineral oil.
So is it ok if you leave them in bleach over night?

What’s the best sort of place to look for these shells? Beaches with calm waters probably?
That depends of the species but calm lagoons are effectively a good place 👍
Try after a storm. Washes up many shells.
Isn't bleach an acid? Great video. It was very helpful.
No it's not. Great you liked it :)
@@SeashellsMineralsChannel I just looked it up. I feel dumb now. Hahaha...
