I appreciate all the different genres you covered here in this video. A little bit of this and a little bit of that, and they all look fun/interesting. Thanks for the post and hope you have happy holidays man
Mega Man Star Force in the thumbnail and Mega Man Star Force music in the video but no actual Mega Man Star Force game being highlighted :( Nice to see Bomberman Land touch get love here though, it has a sequel that's also worth your time too
I only got one a couple of years ago and I was blown away by how nice those screens are. The big, bright, sparse pixels give it a nearly CRT like effect to me
Finally some love for tenchu. The hate it gets is wild because people expected the level of the ps1 or ps2 games when its on a handheld and it runs amazing.
I have weird nostalgia for 3D environments with sprite based characters. It was such a fun combination and DS absolutely nailed it. I would gladly take a remake of Glory of Heracles or Blue Dragon, remade from the fround up in HD 2D.
Dang, Drift Street International looks impressive for the DS! Definitely downloading this to play. Bomberman Land Touch is one that's been on my radar to get a physical copy of, as it looks like a blast (pun intended lol). Tenchu I was surprised to see here! I have it, and while it's a watered down experience, I found it as a guilty pleasure (at least now I know I wasn't the only one that enjoyed it for what it was lol). Another excellent episode man!
Great video mate, some games here i haven't heard of before, the DS has such an incredible library, Rocket Slime is one of my fave games on the system. Keep up the great work, i always enjoy your vids, from a fellow welshman, in Llandudno lol 😊
8:29 This game is actually a spinoff, including Swordcraft Story games Summon Night started as a strategy RPG (Final Fantasy Tactics-like), and there are six games. Most of them never left Japan, except for Summon Night 5 and Summon Night 6. You dont really need knowledge of any games to play these two since theyre standalone-ish experience So, any game that is not SRPG is a spinoff. Though, interestingly enough, there are a handful of times characters from the main series make a cameo in the spinoff games (iirc the protagonist of Summon Night 2 made an appearance in Swordcraft Story 2)
Rocket Slime love yesss! It’s such a cute and adorable yet super fun game! I remember laughing so much at the silly slime characters’ faces and emotes. Also there is Summon Nights on the DS!? I only tried the GBA game and didn’t go far since my Japanese is not good. Might have to try the DS one out. Seems like the battles are similar to the DS Zelda games but with their own quirks…
tenchu dark secret is horrible.. i've been a fan since the original black and white intro on the first game for ps1, i really wanted to like dark secret. i highly advise folks avoid it; now tenchu time of assassins (eu) or tenchu san (jp) for psp.. those are hidden gems.
It's incredible that RPGs and games from companies with way less money than Game Freak had massively better graphics than Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, which are essentially Game Boy Advance games on Nintendo DS for the most part. Gen 5 reached a bare minimum though.
To be fair, unlike the more modern entries, the Pokémon themselves took up a lot of that precious data and development focus. Pokémon has never been about the graphics, but that wasn't really a problem until the Switch when the gap became significantly less excusable. At best, (gens 1 and 5), it was comparable to it's handheld contemporaries. At worst, it didn't, but the sheer number of Pokémon and secrets made up for it.
What is your favourite DS hidden gem?
I really like your first entry Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime

The console just keeps on giving!

I NEED the entire Dragon Quest Slime Series to be translated! 😭
Yes
The third one was.
I would gladly pay 60$ for a remake of Rocket Slime. I did a 100% on the DS years ago and I'll do it again.
@adam145 you're the reason why this generation has no games
@@knuclear200x nothing wrong with a remake tho
DSi XL still goes hard in 2024

Literally a perfect console. Both technically and aesthetically. Belongs in a museum
@@leftyfourgunsone pretty big weakness though: no circle pad
I just got a New 3DS so I'm watching all your videos for lesser known games
Nice! Hope you find something you like.
My favorite handle, even in old hardware there's still something new to see
Still finding great new games to this day!
Finally some love for tenchu. The hate it gets is wild because people expected the level of the ps1 or ps2 games when its on a handheld and it runs amazing.
so? PSP has PS2/Wii ports of Tenchu games

YOU DID IT!!!! YOU DID IT!!!! BIG BANG MINI WAS MENTIONED!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!
Had so much fun playing it. Really solid game!
@ Glad you liked it, I recommended it for a reason! And you’re the reason I played Macross Delta Scramble on Vita! :D
@@NinBendo1 Big Bang Mini was a strong part of my Teenage years. 😌
Big Bang Mini had such an amazing soundtrack too! I got the OST cd bundled with the game when it came out 🥰
I'll second that. Some really catchy tunes!
"You take control of Rikumaru"
Showing footage of using Ayame

I see what they did there
Is it "bullet hail" or "bullet hell"? 🤔 both are applicable, but I swear I hear both when watching game reviews/retrospectives lol
I have the dragon quest hero rocket slime 2. Very fun
