Premier point-of-attack defender or a point guard who creates gravity with scoring and outside shooting? Hmmm. The problem with drafting 2 guards is you already have a lot of guards on the roster - Tre Jones, Devin (who owns the 2-guard slot w/the max contract to match), and Brian Wright’s 2 pet projects in Malaki Branham and Blake Wesley, who has really grown on the defensive side of the ball, yet struggles with this shot. Both Branham and Wesley maddeningly spent a lot of time at backup PG last year. So I can’t see them taking 2 guards without trading or dumping one of those guys who are stil on cheap contracts, so the best case scenario for the Spurs FO would be to split the picks between guards and wings - or in the case of Castle, a guard who can switch on to the wing. Same goes for a Rob Dillingham, who will come in and eventually win Pop over with his charisma and star power and play pretty much the same role he had at Kentucky, microwave scorer off the bench. Pop will throw out a lot of Manu comparisons because Rob does Rob things. And the Spurs will be absolute box office/appointment viewing nationally if Dillingham realizes his potential. Salaun will spend a lot of time in the G-League, which is exactly where they’ll want him and then be brought up towards the end of the year. He'll take over the Champagnie role in the starting lineup, just not next year. Hopefully they bring in some FA pieces too. Keldon is maybe not the defender that Ron might turn out to be, but he's a better outside shooter and already had a year where he averaged 22 points a game, is only 24, and took his bench demotion (and being the topic of frequent trade talks) better than just about any player in the NBA...
i agree with a lot that you said here, but i would prefer ron holland over salaun. even though he struggles with his jumpshot, we would just need him to develop a respectable catch and shoot 3. which i do believe he can develop because of his free throw percentage. holland will also be miles ahead of keldon defensively and would become our main point of attack defender with very good slashing ability that the spurs need. i also don't think that keldon will even be on the team by the time we are really contending tbh

He should be anywhere from 15 - 25 in ranking hopefully by now ... And ill take him over knecht, williams and Salaun... And edey for the last pick i said eniugh about why ...but if we use the last two picks maybe we get a center or lower forward in the twenties like Dadiet and get a better big /wing/pg at 8 ... ATL more likely will draft Risacher... Leaving wizard to draft Sarr then Houston.... Please please don't draft Dilly and draft Reed but your right whoever they don't grab will be a Spur.... I would love for us to take a chance and grab Castle or Holland and come back around but let's not leave anything to chance or trades... With at 4th pick unless they see something we don't and do decide on a defenses minded guard
From my draft text thread today: I think I'm moving Ron Holland right next to Castle & Dillingham as a favorite. Honestly I liked him at 8, but what pushes Holland higher for me is his defense as a 6'8" wing & his ceiling with him having played in that terrible G League team. Also fits better than say Reed Shephard who I think is more of a 2 guard great defender and I still like having that guy but a Ron Holland might fit better in the starting lineup with Vassell & say Castle//Dillingham/Topic or if we traded for Garland So updated today 2 of these guys, listed in order of preference, preferably 1 G & 1 Wing: Castle Ron Holland Dillingham Risacher Shephard Topic Sarr Cody Williams Tidjane Salaun Dalton Knecht Clingan
You didn't mention Nikola Djurisic... watch out for this guy as a Spurs pick. If we get Dejounte or D. Garland, then go Shepherd at 4 (reminds me of stockton, mark price, steve kerr) and then N. Djurisic or Tdjane Salaun or Holland, or Cody Williams at 8 ! Super coverage and analysis !
Every time I hear Clingan name associated with Wemby I feel sick🤮 We are in 2024 FFS when most teams attack 4 players out when its not 5 like Boston or OKC. In offense you gonna have Clingan clogging the paint for Wemby when all we need is more SHOOTING to space the floor for him and let him punish the double teams with his passing. And btw even regardless of fit Clingan shouldnt even be a top 10 pick, he has has a very limited upside due to his lack of mobility. The only position where Clingan wouldnt make the spurs worse on both sides on the floor would be at the backup 5, but no team gonna invest a top 8 pick for a 12 min backup player. PS: Sorry for the rant, good video overall 😄
Spurs won’t take Tristan newton in the second round but they definitely should draft a wing first if that’s available and go castle or wing/ big again. Then in the second round pray castle is there n there u got it
How do you feel about Kyshawn George in this draft class? Is he worthy of being the 8th pick for San Antonio? The team needs a wing to help with spacing and I never see his name on Spurs mocks. He measured in at 6'7 barefoot with a 6'10 wingspan. He's projected to be a high level three point shooter at the next level with playmaking upside. His coaches rave about his basketball IQ. The skills he brings to the table remind me of the best elements of the 2014 championship team with his shooting, passing and playmaking.
My hope is the Spurs use all 4 picks, but likely they trade one or both 2nd rounders. But I think the best draft would be Topic at 4, Holland at 8, Ryan Dunn at 35, and Dunn's teammate Reece Beakman at 45. Dunn has lottery levels of potential if he gets his shot going. I love UVA, so this is a bit of a homer pick but his upside is undeniable. He has Kawhi level defensive ability and athletic ability, just didn't have to shoot at UVA. I don't think his shot can't come around, but if given a few years he will be a really good player for a smart team and I really hope that's San Antonio if he is not a first rounder. As for Reece if Dunn is a poor man's Kawhi, Reece is a Malcolm Brogdon type. The type to end up Rookie of the year do to others not stepping up, and his own steady effective play style. This man has been on the ACC all defensive team all 3 of his 4 years and the league defensive MVP 2 years in a row. He is a menace on defense, crafty but also athletic, and a pretty good playmaker. Like with Dunn his main flaw is his shot, unlike Dunn his is not bad just inconsistent. But he can get into the paint and force teams to stop him and he can make good passes to to open guys. He and Dunn actually made for a good pick and roll tandem, but unfortunately that's not UVA'S offense
Great analysis as always Sheldon. I would love to see the Spurs trade with the Lakers to get their #17 pick and Go either: Sheppard, Williams, Durisic Castle, Buzelis, Durisic (or AJ Mitchell) or Sheppard, Williams, Missi (or Ware) These options mightn't be the sexiest picks at each spot though I think they are the combination of who is likely there at those spots that also plug gaps for the team now and into the future either as better supporting players or replaceable pieces to trade in the future if better option come up through the draft.
No way the Spurs don't take Topic at 4, unless they don't rate him at all. Spurs have been burned by american prayers' character issues, if topic is available, they'll grab him. Then pick a wing at 8.
SPURS need two offensive threat on the team. Just like how Dallas has Doncic and Kyrie and Boston has Tatum and Brown and surround with defensive role player who can shoot.
I'd like to see Ron Holland and Castle playing on the same team. A bunch of guard/forwards (wings) scrambling on offense and defense. That is the way is going right now, thanks to the GSW's. Holland is really intriguing. He was number 1 on many mock drafts for a reason, then slid down because of his 3pt shooting? He's from Texas (Duncanville) and would love to stay near his home/family. Again, he is only 18 and really just figuring out the game. What place is better to teach than the Spurs? He could be the steal of the draft after 3 yrs and hitting 38% from the 3pt line. Otherwise, he has it all.
This is a very intriguing option. I was onboard the Risacher and dillingham train, however, castle at the one and Ron holland at the 2 has extreme potential. Wondering if victor at the 4 is possible.
Great analysis, if Risacher is there at 4 I think the Spurs will take him, if not I think they will take Castle at 4 to play PG since he’s exactly what they wanted Sochan to be at that position. Then they can draft the best available wing at 8
If we trade for an established guard like Garland or Dejounte, then I hope we draft a wing. if not, then I would like the 2 guard draft route where we get castle and dillingham
Topic and Sheppard would be my choice, but the only one that I'd be upset if we passed on is Sheppard. I feel like he can easily come in and be a positive impact guy behind vassell or running pg sometimes when we need shooting and perimeter defense. Only question is size/athleticism, but mechanically he reminds me of Klay Thompson with less volume. Sheppard and Castle would be a good combo too but i doubt both of them would fall to San Antonio. Lot of wings and forwards in 2025 draft so draft two guards for now and maybe move Keldon in the off-season or trade deadline to get draft capital or young cheaper talent
I like *Devin Carter* so much hustle on D good shooter, speedy with good physical tools. He have a 6' 8.75'' wingspan! on physical tool, he's better than *D.White.* *N.Topic* will not work with the Spurs. Spurs need shooter, if D don't respect their range, they'll just double wemby or clog the paint (as they did with Sochan) at least "S.Castle" can produce D *Castle >>>>>> Topic*
Don’t like Clingham for SA. LOVE Sarr for SA, but they would have to trade up to Pick 1 to get him. If the cost is not too great, I’d go for it. Also, I hate the idea of drafting 2 guards or 2 forwards. You have Devin and Sochan. SA is probably looking for players to go along with Wemby, Devin and Sochan. PG and wing is optimal, NOT 2 guards. In the second round, I’d love to see a player who could contribute to the second unit. You saw many times last season where the second unit dug a hole the first unit had to get out of. The second unit needs an upgrade
If Ryan Dunn is available going into the 25-30 range i would try and see if we can package Devonte Graham and Zach Collins and our 2 second round picks and try and move up and draft Ryan Dunn
Spurs have a lot of flexibility & this is an interesting draft. If the cost isn't too high & the spurs like sarr enough to trade up, maybe. I like Castle and dillingham. Trade the 1st 2nd rd pick+keldon Johnson, tre or Wesley you could get zack edeys rights if hes taken bofore. #2 2nd rounder select bronny so lebron signs for a vet minimum lol
Assuming Sarr, Risacher and Sheppard are gone. I'd take Dillingham (4) & Castle (8). With Castle you don't have the problem of clogging up a position because he's versatile!
right now i’m leaning towards taking castle and sheppard, offensively run vassell at the 3 and then defensively castle as the primary attack defender. sheppard playing off-ball and taking the lease scoring threat on D
Very interesting video indeed. If Risascher is still available at 4th, I'm taking him and Topic at 8th. Risascher would be almost perfect for the defensive work and 3 pts shooting.
I'd get Salaun - Wemby needs to be paired with a stronger PF (Sochan's too small). Topic, because of the playmaking and shooting (Tre and Blake Wesley cant space the floor)
Yes on the project player in the 2nd round. We don’t have enough spots on the roster for 4 picks to be on the big team. Draft at least one project player and let that player grow in Austin.
Ricacher or Castle at #4. Don’t think the other will be available at #8. Good news for the Spurs is that eight of the top 10 prospects play the two positions they need to upgrade.
I think the spurs are gonna go Castle and Dalton because Castle gives them size at the point and he's gonna contribute on defense from day 1 and hopefully they'll develop his offense over time and I think they go Dalton because he'd give them much needed spacing but they'd also have him under contract for the majority of his prime on a cheaper contract and having a solid role player for less money will become important in a few years when wemby gets his super max deal
Love the Spurs content! If we are going two guards I like Castle and Dilly. Fingers crossed Castle becomes a Jrue Holiday type player and Rob can lead the second unit with Keldon Johson. Right now Keldon is a good slasher but defenses just collapse on him because the spurs are a bad 3 point team. If he had someone like Dilly come in I can see that being a deadly combo.
The league underestimated Wemby before the season, and I feel now the league overestimates how much and for how long Wemby can be the defense. The years that Robinson was the sole anchor were exciting but it took a long time and towards the end of his career to get a championship. I really hope we are able to get solid defensive players to take that weight off Wemby's shoulders... he should feel like he can come out and rest, and have the game stay 1:1, then come back in when rested. Right now we don't have a squad that can do that.
Risacher #4 / Castle #8 and Castle wants to play PG more
If they drop to those picks, this would be the best scenario really

Quickly, Maxey , Ivey etc.... are point guards every team needs .. fast who can create shots and instead of speading picks or money in Young from Atl we should draft DILLY and ket him shine in ATL. 8 th pick out all the wings out there the one in range that we can get that had the nist potential is Dadiet. Alien in the Mask 👽
I meant let young shine in the ATL... Let young stay in Atlanta ... My apologies for spelling and grammar, writing on a crappy phone with bad eyes rushing ... Thank you for yalls video
From my draft text thread today:
I think I'm moving Ron Holland right next to Castle & Dillingham as a favorite. Honestly I liked him at 8, but what pushes Holland higher for me is his defense as a 6'8" wing & his ceiling with him having played in that terrible G League team. Also fits better than say Reed Shephard who I think is more of a 2 guard great defender and I still like having that guy but a Ron Holland might fit better in the starting lineup with Vassell & say Castle//Dillingham/Topic or if we traded for Garland
So updated today 2 of these guys, listed in order of preference, preferably 1 G & 1 Wing:
Castle
Ron Holland
Dillingham
Risacher
Shephard
Topic
Sarr
Cody Williams
Tidjane Salaun
Dalton Knecht
Clingan
You didn't mention Nikola Djurisic... watch out for this guy as a Spurs pick. If we get Dejounte or D. Garland, then go Shepherd at 4 (reminds me of stockton, mark price, steve kerr) and then N. Djurisic or Tdjane Salaun or Holland, or Cody Williams at 8 ! Super coverage and analysis !
Every time I hear Clingan name associated with Wemby I feel sick🤮
We are in 2024 FFS when most teams attack 4 players out when its not 5 like Boston or OKC.
I would love to see the Spurs trade with the Lakers to get their #17 pick and Go either:
Sheppard, Williams, Durisic
Castle, Buzelis, Durisic (or AJ Mitchell)
or
Sheppard, Williams, Missi (or Ware)
These options mightn't be the sexiest picks at each spot though I think they are the combination of who is likely there at those spots that also plug gaps for the team now and into the future either as better supporting players or replaceable pieces to trade in the future if better option come up through the draft.
Can you do hornets next? My ideal draft would be to select kinecth at 6 and somehow trade pick 42 and move up to 15-20 range? To select Zach edey
@@Dunk1It1Hard I would go after Cleveland Cavs Allen for the number 5. Make that happen for the Spurs.
@@mikesmith9368 I’m curious/suspicion that Kel’el Ware is a perfect fit to Wemby.
For a good 4/5 combo.
I’ll take Castle and Sheppard to build around Wemby! Love the content bro. GSG 🤍🖤
Tristan Newton definitely is underrated and spurs should look into him in the second if they don’t get the guard they desire in the first!
I feel like with OKC taking Hayward they'll be interested in Buzelis.
Great analysis, if Risacher is there at 4 I think the Spurs will take him, if not I think they will take Castle at 4 to play PG since he’s exactly what they wanted Sochan to be at that position. Then they can draft the best available wing at 8
The spurs should scoop up Risacher , ron Holland or topic at 4
Then they should get castle/ dillingham/salaun or ware at 8
If we trade for an established guard like Garland or Dejounte, then I hope we draft a wing. if not, then I would like the 2 guard draft route where we get castle and dillingham
I will go with a PG either Dillingham or Reed and William or Tijaun..
Castle and an upside wing in 2024. Hopefully Nolan Traore in 2025.
Castle/Salaun or Topic/Holland or Holland/Williams
Shepherd or Dilly & Risacher or Tidjuane
Hoping we can trade for Garland and improve defense when Wemby is on the bench
SPURS HAVE ONE OF THE GREATES GM'S RC BUFORD IN NBA HISTORY NOW HIGHER UP IN THE FRONT ALL THE OPINIONS ARE MOOT AND WASTE OF TIME
the spurs are the main team im following through this offseason, love this vid
I don't care what pick just get Knecht. We suck at 3s.
I still feel like Sheppard and Knecht will be the picks if available.
I was risasher at 4 hoping he falls. Topic/castle at 8
I like the idea of Holland and a PG. Dillingham or Castle
Would love to see a kings mini mock draft
I hope they trade both for a starter and a first next year
A safe pick and swing for the fences
I love Topic and knecht combination
Holland at 4. Dili or castle at 8
Reed Sheppard and Castle 😆
Small guards will soon be gone in nba no to Rob
Let's go Sheldon!
Lot of wings and forwards in 2025 draft so draft two guards for now and maybe move Keldon in the off-season or trade deadline to get draft capital or young cheaper talent
reed and castle would be 🔥
There's a chance for Castle since he doesn't shoot well. And he wants to play starting PG.
Point guard in a wing 🪽
Topic + Buzelis
I like *Devin Carter* so much hustle on D good shooter, speedy with good physical tools. He have a 6' 8.75'' wingspan! on physical tool, he's better than *D.White.*
*N.Topic* will not work with the Spurs. Spurs need shooter, if D don't respect their range, they'll just double wemby or clog the paint (as they did with Sochan) at least "S.Castle" can produce D
*Castle >>>>>> Topic*
Detroit next🔥
My top 5 guards that i see my Spurs taking.
1. Nikola Topic
2. Stephon Castle
3. Jared McCain
4. Isaiah Collier
5. Devin Carter
If Ryan Dunn is available going into the 25-30 range i would try and see if we can package
Devonte Graham and Zach Collins and our 2 second round picks and try and move up and draft Ryan Dunn
Sheldon, when are you doing the Maimi Heat?
Will cover Miami soon Mark! Thanks for watching all the vids 🔥
They should take Stephon Castle and Tidjan Salaun or Cody Williams if either Castle or Salaun are gone before they have a chance to pick them.
Draft dillingham at #4 but playmaker in the draft and best pick, highest ceiling. Topic injury prone and can’t shoot or play defense
Or Brony and clingan 😆
It’s gonna be Castle at 4 and Dilly at 8
Not a bad outcome if so
drafting 2 points as if Tre Jones suck. Man, Tre is so under appreciated.
Wembanyama is 7'3
Why not Ajay Mitchell with the #35 pick?
I love Ajay Mitchell’s game. I think he’ll be a first round pick
I hope Mitchell land at 35
