It's so sad because Blitzo does care for him, but imps are basically the peasants and slaves and stolas is royalty. Literally since the day he met stolas, he's had power over him. He was there because his dad bought him for stolas. Stolas' feelings are genuine, but blitzo didn't know that. Plus, with the trauma blitzo has gone through, he doesn't believe he's worthy of love and everyone leaves him. They both have traumas and trauma responses. And Stolas didn't let him apologize.
Blitzys "Let's go !" wasn't about sex. He wouldn't have left. He wanted to have that argument, to fight it out, to resolve this the only way he knows how.
As another Blitz-defender (they both screwed up but I didn't see how bad Stolas dropped the ball until it was pointed out to me)
Something I've seen pointed out that I didn't even think of when I first watched is that Stolas could have sent Blitzo a text saying he wanted to *talk* that night instead. Even if he gave no other detail it at least would've been slightly less of an emotional roller coaster for Blitzo. If he could've just started it with the crystal instead of "I need the book back permanently" that would've helped a lot too. It's really easy to sympathize with Stolas' side because we've been watching him pine and long for Blitzo for multiple episodes and want to change things, but Blitz hasn't seen any of that. Only the dirty talk really.
From Blitzo's perspective, he was more or less brought under false pretenses, told his business would be shut down, told "nevermind about your business, here you go, but you don't need to see me anymore", "Hey I love you and I want you to stay with me but like because YOU want to"-- which his low self-esteem and understanding of Stolas can only justify as "oh we're playing-pretend", and then when he finally understands that Stolas is being genuine, Stolas is like "Good luck with your business. You misunderstanding is basically a no." and leaves the room. Blitzo is frustrated by the emotional rollercoaster and that Stolas won't give him time to think, and vents about everything on his mind about the situation. He's used to being around people who yell back, so Stolas crying makes him backpedal. Stolas shuts down and kicks him out just as Blitzo was about to apologize.
Not a perfect retelling of what happened but I think it helps reframe it because Stolas' perspective seems to be much easier for most people to understand on first watch

This episode truly was heartbreaking. Just two emotionally-damaged people longing for each other and yet failing to understand one another, and harming each other back-to-back.
Although I do feel more for Stolas, I think it is important that we recognize that he wasn't perfect in handling the situtation, either. First, he started the whole encounter off on the wrong foot by focusing on the book. Second, he should have been more patient when Blitzo assumed the worst. I could write a whole essay on things Blitzo could have done better, but a lot of people seem to give Stolas a blanket pass when he could have done better, so that's why I focused on him.
Again, they're two emotionally-damaged individuals who are ill-equipped to navigate a complex problem like this effectively. Just heartbreaking.
Here is another perspective on this. blitz don’t think he is worthy of love and hates himself. If you look at the photos in Blitz’s apartment you see he marked out his face from everyone of them because he can’t stand to see himself.
Blitz does care for Stolas. In the opening song he says he can’t handle things being complicated and decides to only focus on the “sexy parts” Blitz also thinks that is the only thing anyone would want him for.
When Stolas gave Blitz the crystal, Blitz reaction wasn’t “thank you I’m gone” it was “I’m not doing a good job? I can do better”. He was begging to stay with Stolas. Blitz’s “let’s f’ning go” was him saying he wants to talk/deal with the situation and not be just dismissed like Stolas was about to do. However both Blitz and Stolas are complete garage at communicating with each other.

Fun Facts: Loona disappearing out of nowhere after Blitzo turns his attention away from her for a brief moment is similar to Batman doing the same thing when Commissioner Gordon, or anyone else talking to him, turns around for a bit and then back again to find he's already gone 👑👑👑
D.H.O.R.K.S. The cloning ships in the underground facilities and cloned Catholic bishops marching in military formations are an homage to the Kaminoan cloning facilities and clone troopers from Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones 👑👑👑
During the duet, the book Stolas places the Asmodean Crystal Between are the same two books Stolas showed to Blitzo as a child in episode "The Circus" 👑👑👑
