@@yakiv6604 Its about how a lot of people imagine Rangers as extremely intense and strict, while Special Forces members are viewed by many as too laid back and just kind of do whatever they want.
To breach, by order of magnitude you have ...Mechanical ...Thermal ...Shooting ...Explosives but even if all those don't work, you still have ...the lockpickinglawyer
In one of my engineering courses we looked at the mechanical force amplification from a bolt cutter mechanism and vice grips. If it wasn’t for the tolerances causing imperfections from having to actually build it in real life, theoretically you can amplify your input force infinitely (but not in real life obviously). You can take over the world with those damn things
so what kinda mechanical advantage did they end up saying it gave you? like what kind of force do they provide, relative to something else? just curious if there was anything else cool that you learned about em in that course. cheers : )
@@dylanzrim3635 if you boil it down yeah. But for the vice grips which is the simplest case it’s a four bar linkage that you lock out into a truss, a triangle, and the effective lever goes off to infinity as that crank angle to coupler approaches 180. The bolt cutters or the jaws of life is a more complicated linkage with more links that also take in input power and amplify it in impressive ways. The jaws of life are insane, they use a hydraulic actuator as an input force of thousands of pounds and amplify it in a similar manner through the mechanism (which get more complicated than a super basic lever and fulcrum)
Get high quality smaller bolt cutters, then get two pieces of steel tubing that will fit over the handles of the bolt cutters. If you want to do it up deluxe, drill holes in the handles and tubes so you can put a nail or other item in the holes to secure the pipe in position on the handle. You want the higher quality bolt cutter because it will have better cutting surfaces. The pipes will extend the handles to twice their length and give you a lot more leverage. If you try the extra leverage with cheap bolt cutters, you will quickly damage the cutting surfaces of the jaws, making them useless.
Israel's like your silly dad ready with endless puns while Cameron's the cool uncle/your dad's cool bro. Also, Cam mentioned something that I didn't really expect from the military. It's how simple the mindset is. Like if the mechanical breaching doesn't work, it doesn't work, get to the next level right away. I learned some few stuff from both Cameron and Israel the realism of military games and it allows me to differentiate the game elements from the realism elements much better. Appreciating the game logic part with its limitations and at the same time having some idea of how it would be realistically.
A good swing and a hammer, had one in highschool, lost the keys and the janitor knocked it off with a good knock after struggling to cut it lol, think hard>work hard
I could watch you guys talk about anything military related because you guys actually make learning about that stuff actually fun and informative with jokes And because I’m a big military equipment/history buff as well as a huge supporter of the military being that my uncle was in the military, my grandfather was in the marines during the Vietnam war but not actually fighting, also I had another grandfather who drove over in Vietnam in the army and I currently have a cousin in the army who just completely the air assault program and is currently stationed in Germany you guys and your videos are right up my alley

You guys should do like a worth it series with equipment cheap, medium, expensive and at the end see if the expensive one si actually worth the extra money you pay for it
A made in the USA $60.00 bolt cutters have the same head as those military ones. They're three companies here that made good quality heads, and those are the ones all these "military" gear use. Oh by the way I used to be a supervisor for one of those "military" gear company.
awesome video guys, keep it great could one of the war wallet videos be about tactical gloves, i've seen some vey expensive ones and also some relatively cheap ones that promises the same as the expensive ones
takeaway the rubber handle and carry 2 more short water pipe as handle extensions and you are good to go. construction workers know that trick. this is also a international standard of "persuasive tool", from military to mafia. you put a finger into the jaws, the finger talks, and talk quick. in this scenario, a $20 cheap one will do the job.
Guys, you need learn how the bolt brake tool is adjusted, just screw counter clock the side screw so the jaws touch completely and now you can cut the sheet metal , also adjust the blade screws so you can re-align the blades back in position, other wise you are misinforming your fan.
These are made by NUPLA for Blackhawk. They are MUCH cheaper if you buy the NUPLA ones and the only difference is the fiberglass handles are yellow, which paint or electrical tape quickly fixes. They also offer different sizes.
back during my conscription days, there was this locker we found in the bunks which was used by some guy who left the army years ago, and the lock on the door was this big ass master lock of the same type that we used for the armskote. we had to get the locker open in a hurry that day because of an audit, so we brought over the bolt cutters from the storeroom. i was pretty fit back then so i was doing that thing where you pull the cutters towards your body, and i managed to bend the arms of the cutter and the blades became concave, but there wasnt a damn mark on the lock.
The Blackhawk cutters wear out over time, it’s extremely annoying. Especially because no one wants to pay to replace them. They’re also heavier than all other bolt cutters I know of. I really wish they had easily replaceable teeth. That would make them perfect. We do a lot of manual breaching and burn through bolt cutters pretty fast. The Blackhawk blades tend to generate gaps a lot. Which may not be an issue on chains or padlocks so much as barbed wire, concertina wire, hurricane fencing, etc. The ductility of the material makes a difference. Hardened metals like lock shackles, chains, some fasteners, etc are more relying on shear forces in the material to cause failure. However softer metals like wire, some tool steels, aluminum, etc relying on the teeth meeting up and actually separating the material. Unless you’re in an organization that will buy you new bolt cutters every dozen breaches then I’d consider cheaper bolt cutters. If you’re paying for your own cutters then buy a cheap(ish) cutters, telescopic handled ones are very nice, and just replace them as necessary. If you’re attacking chains and locks regularly I recommend breaching rounds in a shotgun or a saw (K12 or saws-all based on mission). For stealth breaches the bolt cutters are really unmatched. Explosive breaches will always be king. All in all I think Blackhawk is the nicest on the market but it’s a matter of mission and budget in which you pick.
They don't last long because they are literally the same Doyle brand cutters that Harbor Freight sells. The "blackhawk" ones even have the Doyle logo on them. You bought 30 dollar Chinese bolt cutters that blackhawk just spray painted and charged you 200 dollars for. Buy Knipex or NWS brand cutters, made in Germany and have actual hardened steel blades that'll never need replaced.
Always enjoy watching you lads, all your videos are fun and interesting, also learn a thing or two which is never bad. Keep up the good work and most importantly have fun 🤘
In my experience a pair of rigid bolt cutters is the way to go. Length depends application, but if you’re going to need to use them a lot go bigger. In the military you have to carry them around so length becomes a consideration as they get a little heavy and cumbersome. I work with a lot of sealed trailers and shipping containers in my job and my coworkers have to cut bolts daily. We lost one of our cutters so the maintenance manager ran down to lowes and bought a cobalt brand pair. They looked very nice but they totally sucked, metal was weak and the jaws deformed immediately. Funny thing is we found the old rigid ones later and now that’s all we use. We probably have about ten laying around, and they’re kind of ugly but they still work every time. If you get a really thick bolt you’re better off using a grinder to cut it IMO. Also be sure to wear eye pro when cutting, I’ve seen plenty of these things spark or send the link flying.
Obviously if noise is a concern then cutters are a good choice, BUT if you can use an angle grinder or even dremel tool you can demolish most any cable, chain, or lock shackle VERY easily.
Cut the top of the loop on the padlock. Then slide rotate away the loose side. As long as the chain isn’t too big you’re guaranteed to get in in a single cut.
As a blacksmith and a welder, its odd that you say that the weld is weaker. Its quite the opposite in my line of work, it will however break RIGHT next to the weld, always.
