So strafing in games works because the miniscule capped air acceleration gets added to the forward momentum Exactly what I was looking for thanks for the video
i just wanted to say i love your channel and it got me seriously into rocket jumping on tempus back in January and now I've beaten a good bit of tier three maps so I just wanted to say thanks for that
the man is back!! i remember when i figured this all out on my own when i was starting to get into jump in late 2020 and it was the biggest mindblow ever lol. ur videos are as addicting as always i hope you have more coming down the pipe
I LITERALLY SAW YOUR CHANNEL FIRST TIME EARLIER TODAY I saw your jumpacademy walkthrough playlist earlier today, and you come back from a break just hours after, what a coincidence
Last map's actually one I'm making, jump_sphinx. Haven't quite finished it yet, haven't worked on it too much recently. But there's a preview release available on jump.tf
Very informative. I learned backwards strafing while playing pubs, when I hit around 1k hours and figured out people LOVE going for those airshots (same tho).
appreciate the quick w strafe mention, but maybe it would have been nice to also mention things like pressing opposite key of momentum (w for backward and s for forward mostly) and side key which has some kind of uses at times, tho it's mostly great for being unpredictable in-game in general nice and clear guide tho :-)
Unfortunately, it's not very easy... But there are a few options. If you know how to install a vpk, there's this HUD speedometer: jump.tf/forum/index.php?topic=3388.0 If you're good with computers and want other jump-related stuff offline, you can try out the offline jump pack jump.tf/forum/index.php?topic=2407.0 You should be aware that it can overwrite your binds, so you should back them up before using it.
Very little that i can think of that outright "forces" you to - there's a bonus jump (on jump_ablation, if memory serves me well) that has you speedpogoing faster than rocket speed to catch up to a prefire... You need to s-tap to slow down for each rocket, which sends you faster than 1100hu/s so you can outpace your prefire. But that jump's quite difficult and probably not what you're looking for. jump_bear has quite a few speedpogo jumps, so maybe that's one place to go? I'd suggest taking some medium-length flat pogo jumps, such as the end of course 2 in jump_bear, and try pogoing fast enough that you start tapping S. If you're really focusing on learning it, replaying jumps to go faster/smoother is a good idea. Good luck, let me know how it goes!

Love to hear that! Glad you're enjoying jumping :)

air strafing adds so much to the feel and character of the source engine
Ive been looking all over for something like this. Thanks!
Fire my amigo, glad to see you're still kicking lol.
AFAIK, The thing about strafing sideways is really useful for demoknight trimping, as the charge is similar to holding w.
Wake up babe firestabber uploaded

@@Firestabber it would also be cool if you added the names of maps im the corner or something
Nice video man :D very cool math edits

Very cool & informative stuff! Thanks for this, fire! Love the visualisation & editing of this video too! :D
When it comes to explaining rocket jumping you are the best and you mix in relaxing music with clean editing. Chefs kiss
nice editing!
Ur the goat of jumping content
The man, the myth, the legend has come back, started to miss your yummy content
Not an easy concept, but you've done great job at explaining it
Super nice vids man ! Great work !
Please continue !
nice content, visuals
The biggest reason why I wanna give up on strafing, so on tf2 as a whole, is because not being able to hold w makes it extremely hard to get used to

Great video dude
Amazing and very informative video king 👑
This video is sick. 3Blue1Brown but tf2?
Exactly, yeah, it uses "Manim", the python library 3B1B wrote. Glad to hear you like it!
Oh shit you're back
great video
have you tried out speed running chained together?
Great video :)
What are those strafing maps? I would like to try those out. I often lose speed while I try to strafe.
how do i track my speed on a jump in base game on a private server ?
Unfortunately, it's not very easy... But there are a few options.

are there maps that force you to learn s-tap pogo ?

Clicked for tf2 but got a lesson in linear algebra lol
