Vietnamese are mainly Buddhists, and some 25% are Christians. They are not the same as the Syrians...

I don't know why we are comparing this at all!!! Syria has been in war due to the American influence. Syrian and Iraqis are not suffering compared to how the Vietnamese were back in that time. Why is no one questioning about UAE helping out? And if we really cared we could help Syria within their country itself and help. Iraq was destroyed due to USA. The average public do not the real stories of politics. The west is so blinded. The Vietnamese struggle cannot even be damn compared.

+springtimefever I have nothing against Iraqi and Syrian people. I mean I have great friends with these backgrounds. But there are way deeper politics with this issue. And if we were really caring then Africa (Northern parts) would have been helped ages ago then. Those people (not all Africian parts mind you) suffer and we do nothing and give some thousands via organizations or the mind few that go with their passion to help. I would rather help them and give them a chance. I am not being like crazy but this is just too much abuse. These people are strong and smart. We 'the west' are just left in such an awkward position. I feel so bad for governments across the world. The UAE really needs to step up. I won't call anyone terrorists because people everywhere are crazy. I live in the East Coast and people here know nothing...very naive (I cannot blame them), to world politics and so they just eat this up and support blindly. Not all but its really infuriating.

+Dunning Kruger Nothing to even do with religion. The education and general knowledge of people are poor.

Peer Devincy Sorry I didn't understand that comment. If that was to mock or ridicule me then don't even bother trying.
Thanks from a human that wants the world to stop fighting.

I’m Vietnamese and I’m sure when my family was sponsored to the States many people had the same feelings about us. We always try to do the right thing showing America that they did not make a mistake, I think most refugees feel the same.

Level of Dangerous, deprivation and distress are the same for Vietnamese boat People and Syrian, but the different is the people culture. To accept the Vietnamese to the third country, delegation had to question them, make sure they are not communist, even if the communism ideology was not many Vietnamese people believe in, but Koran have been around for thousand years and most middle east people believed in: "I will cast terrors into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore, trike of their heads and strike off every fingertips of them - Koran 8:12" What we should help Syrian is to open their eyes to see the world, how we live and love each other and help them not to kill each other in their own country. It is not easy but that how we can stop the boats.
