I too am a boat person. We had the luckiest journey as we didn't encounter much difficulty. I believe we were shot by pirates once, but no major encounter. We had enough food and we reached Malaysia and stayed there a few months in a refugee camp. Got accepted to immigrate to Canada and the rest is history. I am very grateful for Canada, love the country with all my heart.
I too am a boat person. First time, my entire family tried to escape and we were caught because the captain was working with the VC. Women and children in one area of the prison and the boys/men were in another part of the prison. Second time, my mom split us up. I left with my brother, 2 sisters and a family friend. My eldest sister was maybe 15 or 16 at the time. We made it to Thailand and was sponsored by the family friend's brother living in the states. Eventually my entire family escaped, some took 5-6 times to be successful and each time someone was caught, my mom had to bribe the jailers to let them out. Thank you for sharing your story!
Thank you so much for the video. There are so many memories that I will never forget. I was 10 years old when I was there in 1983, along with my older brother. He was 15 at the time. We both were on the boat for 32 days before we got rescued. I am who I am today living the American dreams, but never forget where I came from. Thank you again.
My coworker, another nurse in South Bay told me she is a boat person. She is lucky to have made it. She is a front line covid worker saving lives now. American dreamer
The ones of us who weren't chased out of the USA by supremacists. We left to El Salvador then Guatemala, but when we saw the similar situation in those countries as with what we ran away from, we went to Mexico. I am now a proud Mexican citizen and often wish some other country besides USA had accepted me and my family from the Puerto Princesa, Philippines refugee camp.
John Tran Official Many civilian deaths caused by communists! I remember Hue when thousand and thousands of civilians were killed by NVA because the South would not support communism and hated uncle Ho!
Susan Ananda were you there? Communists purposefully kill civilians willfully. US military as collateral damage. Few were the result of savagery as were communists activity.
Absolutely truth stories I have saw my aunt put her gold made in a ring in to her vigina ( I was 10) when she got caught the police as her to pend over to take gold out, that how I know & see 😢😢😢💔💔💔
I know one man whos ship sank and killed his mother and sister. He survived by holding on to a metal water barrel for 3 days. The skin on his stomach and chest has burn scars from the heat of the metal barrel due to the sun.
By coming to the US, she's finally achieved her long time dream, to be a nail worker. Today, she's dedicating all her time creating beautiful nails for America, the country which had taken her family in, as a way of gratitude. This story brings tears to my eyes.
United States abandoned south Vietnam because they have nothing to exploit , only rice and corns including vegetables only for them to exploit which their nation not take advantage for those products sell too low price hahah haha
