jay Reda I’m in the same boat. I’ve no vision at all in my right eye due to a childhood accident. One of my biggest fears is going blind as I’m a very visual person. This has put me at ease as well that maybe if something did happen to my other eye I could still see with these glasses.
Hi Dhara, it can potentially be useful for people with diabetic retinopathy. To find out if it's available in India contact eSight at www.esighteyewear.com/contact

Hi Mazher, it certainly can be useful for people with diabetic retinopathy, although as always I would recommend getting a demonstration before buying. the prices is $5995 and you can purchase through us if you want to. Call me at 312-997-3649 or email luke.scriven@chicagolighthouse.org. Thanks for watching!
Hi Ahmed and Lamya, unfortunately there is no 'best'. Different devices work better for different people, depending on their specific type of vision loss, their goals, their preferences, ability with technology etc. The only way to be sure is to try them.
Yes it's a really cool feature. You can send any signal to the glasses directly over HDMI, then they are displayed in the headset's video screens. From there you can magnify the image, and pan around the magnified image just by moving your head. Awesome!
He says it's a very sharp image, but the last video I saw (another person) said the image was grainy. My sister went for a demonstration yesterday and she felt the image was grainy.
Hi Dapper D, I would say that is an astute observation. The image is sharp, however as you magnify to the higher levels it does become more grainy, so it all depends on how much magnification you are using. Thanks for watching!
very nice innovation to glasses keep evolving it. i do what is called fpv kwad racing/ freestyle we use goggles very similar you might get some ideas from looking at fatshark aomaway skyzone or the eachine goggles they range in fov from 50 to 25%. a few things the rc community has found might help make it more effective on wider range of ppl and lower production cost.
Hi Shukria, potentially eSight could help. However, as it is a camera based technology it requires light in order to work properly, and as such it isn't necessarily going to be that beneficial at night.
can you estimate what you peripheral vision with that would be like? a person with good vision has 180 degrees i assume. what is it with esight glasses? also, is it critical for some users that the video screen is so close to the eye? lastly, what is your opinion working with this in front of a computer. is that even possible? or is the delay too long so that it would make more sense (if possible) get a zoom function for the computer screen if the person has still good enough vision for it? Thank you so much for this video. it gave better insights about the technology than the esight website. greetings from germany!
Hi, lots of questions! The field of view will be directly related to the level of magnification that a user has applied, and as such will vary. However, even at the minimum magnification a user cannot see as wide a field as they would be able to if they didn't need the eyewear. I'm not exactly sure what you mean in your second question, but eSight is designed in such a way that the video screens are placed at the optimal position in front of the eye. For computer use eSight has a neat trick - you can connect the computer directly into the eSight and see the computer's image directly on the eSIght's video screen. You are then able to magnify that image as much as needed, and pan around the image by just moving your head. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
The Chicago Lighthouse Adaptive Technology Center thanks for your quick response! the part about the computer was new to me! i will have to try and ask them if there is a trial version of check them out somewhere in europe maybe. have a good rest of the day
It appears to be a digital camera that allows the partially sighted to magnify items at a close working distance. Of course it will not work for all people who are legally blind.
Hi Jim, you have pretty much hit the nail on the head here. Of course, no low vision tool works for all people with a visual impairment, and that's why it's important to try equipment before purchasing.
Well obviously it's a similar concept, but utilizing a more modern camera and screens for a better resolution picture and better color reproduction. eSight also offers features such as HDMI input as opposed to composite, auto-focus at a wide range of distances (no reading lens required) and so on. That said, the Jordy is pretty awesome and has a base which turns it into a CCTV, a feature eSIght doesn't have. There's also a new Jordy coming out soon, so it will be interesting to see how that performs.
I've always been amazed how much brighter the world was when looking through my iPhone camera. Sometimes at home this is how I'll view things - like my cat playing - and I always wondered if there was a device that was just a digital camera I could look through. Guess I found it.
I've found the IrisVision to work better in low light conditions, bear in mind though that all of these devices are using a camera system and as such rely on some level of lighting in order to be effective.
My son is familial exudative vitroe retinopathy (fevr) he is partially blind 40percent disability Is it beneficial for him If yes is there any dealers in india
Hi Reena, I would suggest reaching out to eSight themselves to see if they have distribution in India and whether you could get a demo. You can contact them here www.esighteyewear.com/next-steps
Would this work for an 85 y/o grandmother who has been blind for 11 years now? She normally had black eyes but her eyes are now light blueish with the pupil being blackish. She can’t see most things, everything is black to her but she can see light when a window is near. Please respond.
Also, since she’s old she doesn’t work well with technology-she just wants to walk around and go places and see with the glasses. Based on what I wrote do you think this would be great for her? Should we get her Nueyes for her preferences? Has esight worked for people who see almost next to nothing? Please respond we’re growing desperate. Thank you.
How the heck can you charge over 5 grand for some plastic and some electronics? Wouldn't it stand to say that if it were more affordable then more people can actually afford this?
Hi, The best answer is to try the out. I offer free demonstrations at www.highervisiontech.co.uk. Potentially these can really help with Macular degeneration. As commented above, it doesn't help everyone to the same degree as everyone has different types of vision loss. Your best way to know is to arrange a demonstration. I am an optician in the UK, my website is www.highervisiontech.co.uk and offer free demonstrations
Hi Ibrahim, unfortunately there is no clear answer to that question as it is very dependent upon the individual. I will say that both are designed more for central vision loss, and so might not always be the best for RP. That being said, sometimes they will work, so it is important to get a demo to see whether either works for you. Thanks for watching!
The Chicago Lighthouse Adaptive Technology Center I'm from Nigeria. Are they available here for a demo or does one have to come to the US to have a demo?

Pretty cool but I think it runs around $10,000.00 bucks. They need to seriously bring down the price and tons of people would likely buy it - Consequently the company would be making more bucks
Hi Mike, yes I agree the price is a little hard to swallow. eSight do help people out with fundraising though, so oftentimes people don't end up paying anything!
Every time there is something to help peoples health, their costs are ridiculous. To give you an idea, you can purchase a very good set of FPV Goggles/Glasses and a Camera for less than a thousand dollars. And some control for focusing etc and you have a system very similar to Esight. FPV or (First Person View) is a Radio Controlled Aircraft with a Camera and transmitter mounted on it. The cameras video signal is transmitted to the Goggles which you wear and fly the aircraft as if you are in it. I just don't see why they would cost 10k. They would sell allot more if the price was reasonable. Just my opinion.
@Josh Quik Hi Josh, Lasik is not able to help people with a visual impairment. This device is designed to assist people with medical conditions which affect their vision, not people whose vision can be corrected by glasses. Thanks for watching!
Hi Vytautas, the camera does shake in the video, but you have to remember that eSIght is mounted on my head, and as such shakes as I talk! Obviously this wouldn't be an issue if I wasn't having to talk into the camera. Thanks for watching!
