    Those saws are good for people who don’t use one much and don’t want to deal with maintenance. People have asked me if I have any battery op saws when I tell them I collect. I just kinda shake my head for how much they don’t understand and probably for how crazy I am as well. It’s nice that you have your family right there around you.

      @FarmlessFarmer-xs1he It is nice most of the time; I spend a LOT of time working on their equipment; I'm their version of 911 when something breaks; they have an unrealistic expectation of my abilities though; they think I'm a top-notch sprayer/electronics voodoo expert, planter mechanic, air conditioner guru, diesel whisperer, weather predictor, programming wizard, and own an all-knowing magic 8 ball!! On the other hand, when I'm doing something and they are not in the field, they tend to come helping!! You are right on the money; they have nice saws (Shindaiwa) but rarely use them anymore; their heat gets delivered and stored in them big oval 500 gallon tanks; they throw logs on the fire by twisting the gadget on the wall. My uncle (in the vid) has aftermarket knees, aftermarket hips, neuropathy, is over on axles, and is unstable... that's just on the physical attributes to make a batter saw safer to run. The other factor is the use for the saw; carry in tractor or SxS and get out and cut a limb here and there around a field. They have their place, for sure!

    Great Grandpa would have dug up part of that root ball for sassafras tea! Good to see your Uncle out and helping, nobody wants to sit and do nothing. Thanks for sharing.

      @Archer_82 Yeah, You couldn't run him off with a bucket of poop and a broom when it comes to working/helping!! If he ain't doing anything on his farm, he likes to come get into trouble with me sometimes. Out banter probably didn't pick up too well on the camera, but we give each other grief ALL DAY LONG... makes for fun work. Thanks for coming along!

      @Archer_82 I think sassafras tea is an acquired taste; I don't much care for it or root beer or sarsaparilla. It sure smells good and sure can make a saw look good!!

      @Archer_82 I'm sure he did!!! I didn't have indoor plumbing until I was ~7 years old; I grew up living close-to-the-bone also... if my choice was water, coffee, or sassafras, I'd take water or coffee; LOVE the smell, can't stomach the taste.

      @Chuckrussell75 Thanks! It's a fine tractor for smallish work and grapple work; the skidsteer is better, but I was hub deep on 9-24 front rubber; my ol skid steer wouldn't have made it off the road. Had a small tornado go thru about 100 yards or so just south of my sheep barn and out across my timber and pasture; I've got a slot thru the wood that you can see 1/4 mile with stuff twisted and mangled. That lil milwaukee was pretty impressive for what it was; it's not the tool that fits my situation best, but for him... he loves it!! Thanks for joining-in an commenting; first I remember you commenting and I am stoked you chose to take a moment of your time to join in down here where the fun REALLY happens!! Welcome!!

    Ya know Ole friend, we’ve been spoofing back and forth all this time about which is better, a Sthil or a Husky, while all a long Ole Roy, being a hell of a lot smarter then the both of us put together, went out and bought a M18 Milwaukee electric chainsaw and humbles us both. On another note, if you have ever wondered what I look like; well Ole Roy and I could be twins brothers, same age, white hair, white beard, same height, weight and good looks, faded ball cap and brown tee shirt. The only two differences I noted was where Ole Roy wears blue denim bibs, I wear brown fire hose stitched Duluth bibs ( I find they’re softer and cause less jock itch on hot summer days). And secondly, where Ol Roy braids cool looking Viking beads into his beard, I on a more practical sence braid left over buffalo wings, ribs, pork chops, etc. for handy snacks throughout the day. Hope to see more of Ole Roy in your up coming videos. Sincerely, Ole Mountain Man. PS: Please give a shout to Ole Roy from me.

      @olemountainman3996 Ole Mountain Man, I'll let Roy know that his twin says "hey". That ol' M18 is a pretty good rig for him. The Duluth bibs? Never tried any of their stuff, but *LOVE* the commercials you used to see... a beaver biting a guy's leg plumb off in "regular" jeans and getting his teeth hurt and whimpering away after biting into the Duluth britches. Their dang commercials were classic!! I'm surprised that they are softer though; I figured they were as stiff as a new pair of brown duck Carharts?
      Ain't nothin' wrong with braiding vittles into your beard; that's thinking ahead right there!! I usually wear the same shirt for two or three meals; I figure if I get stranded, I can make a hearty soup out of it!!
      Thanks for the vivid pictures you put into my head!!

      @olemountainman3996 4 місяці тому +2

      @@HayChaffandSawdust1 Yep, them Duluth bibs out of the box are softer than them Carhart’s, even after washing um a couple a dozen times. Your right about Duluth’s advertisement, was doing a job along a crick with a lot of aspens, beavers favorite meal in that neck of the woods, when 3 of my best men were attacked by rogue beavers. Two of them survived the mauling they got from the sneak attacks and were back on their feet in a few weeks, but the other, after poking an aggressive beaver with a stick, who got mauled… let’s just say in a tender spot above the knees… had to go into emergency surgery. When his wife finally reached the hospital he was in ICU on life support in a medically induced coma to alleviate the excruciating pain caused by the beaver mauling. The doctors told his wife her husband had been mauled, after poking the wrong beaver, near ole brothel creek crossing that facilitated extensive surgery. They then put him in a medically induced coma and would slowly bring him around, in a few days, to reduce the chance of heart failure. Now you need to understand, the whole county we lived in had less than 1,000 people in it… could be called very rural… 29.8% don’t graduate from the fourth grade, 59.8% don’t graduate from grammar school, 89.8% don’t graduate from high school and 99.8% never go to college. Now I don’t know, for a fact, but it would seem to reason that the wife’s odds are not in favor of being the one in every 3 years that makes it to college seeing as to how I know her husband and I were in the third grade together when he, in fact didn’t make the forth grade as I did, proudly my pinnacle. Be that as it may her response to the doctor’s explanation and prognosis gave her a… let’s say, a more pee-ode than commiserated attitude. I guess it doesn’t really matter because due to a freak accident that first night the cord to the husband’s life line fell out of the socket and he died from a massive heart attack. Fortunately through the workman’s compensation settlement, his wife is now married to a stay at home… as she calls him… trophy husband… out of the above 59.8% gene pool… and she, now, is a stout advocate against the brothel’s of Nevada. And that’s how come the rest of us in our neck of the woods come to wearing Duluth bibs. Another information filled tarradiddle from the pondering’s and wandering’s of an Ole Mountain Man.

    • @olemountainman3996
      @olemountainman3996 4 місяці тому +2

      PS: My wife said, after reading this particular tarradiddle; I needed to alert the reader there is a story within the story. A clue is why did the wife become such an advocate against the brothel’s. The wife and I have a friendly bantering debate between us as to our school gene pool level, based mostly on how I wrote it versus how she interpreted it. So we’re going to have a read off. In my defense I didn’t proofread it before I sent it…and I’m older than she is… Unfortunately the story already gave away my level🤪… And she weren’t from around here🥰. So my only redeeming hope is you find the story within🫣. OMM

    What did you think of that battery saw? Seems better to me to dump some gas and bar oil in and keep going. I'm sure they have their place. Looked like an oak tree. They don't usually blow down. Say hi to the pupps. Kicks is getting big.

    • @HayChaffandSawdust1
      @HayChaffandSawdust1  4 місяці тому +1

      @TheJohnDeereGuy I think the battery saw is GREAT!!... it's a tool that has a purpose... let me explain; my uncle has had both knees, both hips, is over on axles, has neuropathy in his feed (can't feel them) and fell down (at least twice while helping me. It's his saw and he doesn't have to worry about he chain spinning while idling, falling on a hot muffler, etc...; also they are GREAT for going around fields in a tractor; it doesn't smell-up a cab tractor, isn't hot, etc... Like any tool, it's best suited for a specific set of situations. I have a battery pole saw because it fits best, but for me, gas and oil are the only way to go on a chainsaw at the moment. Kicks is becoming a monster; he's still too much of a pup to take to training for very long, but in due time!!

      @jamesconn7311 I can agree perfectly; for him, it's the right tool for his physical condition/stability and purpose (cutting a limb or two here and there around fields; they're not big farmers, but 400 acres or so... can ride in tractor cab with him without spilling gas or dealing with a hot muffler; it's about like my cordless impact; it's nice to throw in a tool box, but tight stuff get the IR air powered one. @jamesconn7311 It's mostly from storms a month or so ago; went down exactly same day as the one on the fuel tank; just takes be a bit to get stuff edited and posted. There's a few things I've purchased which were never regretted; this is one!! It works better on the skid steer, but the skid steer won't handle much soft ground. It sure beats lugging branches by hand!! It *REALLY* shines for cleaning hay-pack from the barn; it has definitely save me MANY hours of work. Take care too!!

      They claim “faster than gas” on Milwaukee’s’ site … 🤷 - seems kinda stale to me , running these electric battery saws though - even if they do the job you’re not getting the sounds / smells / enjoyment of whacking the throttle on the 2-stroke especially a built saw … Fun factor for gas 10/10 , electric 0/10 😂
