How were you so sure in your graduation that you want to go for research? I am in my final year and all I have realised is that in academia that there is no work life balance and they don't get paid according to the amount of time they put in. But for industry jobs one has to learn a lot of skills which are not taught in graduation, this makes me think why am i even studying all this if it isn't going to matter.

Some que, check if relevant Which is best PhD from Central University or Research lab for core subjects like botany/zoology ? Can we do research & teaching while doing PhD and manage it (with JRF). Will it be considered as experience, in cv ? If doing PhD with JRF, can we have other source of income ( both)? Which is best after PhD for long term- Academia, Reserch scientist, other ? and how can we plan better ?
