I’ve been trying and trying.. Finally got it. And I didn’t know that you had to upgrade it to make it wrathgiver.. I think I destroyed a bunch of them without knowing.
@@Flempoo The sword should say “Gain 10 wrath on an execution.” “40 health recovery on an execution.” It’s a default sword that you finish the task for and it will turn into a wrathgiver after you upgrade it. He gets it at 6:05. Look in the description the captain can’t have those traits. I just got mine 😁
in other guides i've never heard of traits affecting the drop, going to try with this method thank you update: I'll be honest dude was sceptical at first of what you were saying tried it worked 100%

@Kurt CoBane that sounds like a really fun build. Is the health drain significant from the slaughter set? I haven't messed around with it much, but I use the bow a lot for the health regen. Dagger of vengeance is fun too with wrathgiver, with the might on demand every minute.
@@thejackal4243 naaaa you can't go below 33 percent on the drain and if you use starclaimer which let's you regain 13 percent health per second in elven rage it completley negates the drain the build is wrathgiver slaughter dagger bow armor and cloak with starclaimer if you have the post game elven rage the gondrian guards count as allies for the 4 piece slaughter bonus as does any orc you raise How it works is do a drain either ground drain execution one or shadow strike drain use the move that vaults over enemies and puts you in birds of prey so you can use talon strike (which procs wrathgiver) then spam elven light/execution/combat drain while your summons are out then repeat just make sure you use a caragor mount and iron guards for the 4 piece bonus because they are free to raise and proc the bonus at the end of rage anyway just gotta get in the habit of swapping a piece out if you need a bodyguard or a drake

Thank you! Confirmed method in Nurnen. Got it this morning in 4 tries on a Trickster (15/01/2024) that got enraged when facing me alone, but had little other traits. Had ''Discerning Eye'' ON. For the rest, I used the same method. No status effect on anything, just raw damage. Pulled the Uruk to me with a hammer, kept pummeling him with fists & eventually the execution was automatic. Was level 20' something. It's easier in that range of levels: few have status weapons & they aren't scary, yet...lol
Hey there, I just wanted to ask if you know whether or not doing the qte execution would also work? Whenever I try doing the ground exe, it always goes into the QTE thing, and I'm not quite sure if I am doing it right or not. I've been at this since yesterday, and I constantly keep getting the QTE.
@@AJ_psych0 hey there, there are a couple of enemies like tanks that always will have the QTE death animation, so try a different type of enemy. I find Marksmen, Slayers, and even commanders work pretty well, but tanks, and anybody with the last stand perks will make it impossible to pull off the ground execute. @@AJ_psych0it's been a while, but I do remember tricksters being a bit... tricky lol. I think I've had the best luck with Marksmen, but occasionally the qte kill perk will pop up on some other classes. Tanks specifically though will never work for that reason. If you can't find a captain you like, just go on a quick killing spree to refresh them, it shouldn't take too long to find one, once you get the kill method down. Let me know if you need a bit more in depth answer and I will hop on and see what if I can't track down the exact name of the perks that trigger it.

Followed this guide exactly and got the sword in 3 tries 🙌🙌🙌 There’s lots of guides out there on youtube that don’t go into the details of what captain traits to avoid and they wasted a lot of my time ahaha. Cheers bro
Thanks for the video!, . It took me ages to finally get a Lesser/Version of the sword, which gives (8 wrath with Executions AND increased to 9 after upgrading it). Im definitely keeping tho until feel like farming for the 10 per execution version. Sword Looks good as well

Hey there! Thank you so much for the kind words, I remember when I figured out the restarting before the mission screen popped up, it made it actually kind of fun to farm lol. So, from what I remember, I think you do need to put discerning eye on, but I don't believe prospector is necessary. As for the ground fury execute, just keep doing the ground fury and Talion will automatically pull out the knife and complete the kill. I hope that helps, and thank you again for the kind words. 😀

Been using your guide to farm this sword... Just kept getting the other variants of wrath giver. In the end I don't know if it was by fluke or what but let a random orc kill me, he became a captain, hunted him down killed him with a ground execution and got the sword straight away 🤷🏻♂️😂 no idea why

@@thejackal4243 just a quick one… if I double tap the jump button over the enemy and stun them with frost with a followed combo attack after to throw them on the ground and then I do the ground execution… will that change the loot that drops because I used frost with the double jump over the head of the enemy?
@King Dabuu it is probably best to temporarily turn off those skills in the character menu that can add elemental damage, just to make it a little easier. That being said; I have frozen an enemy once or twice to keep them from enraging, and still had wrathgiver drop. As long as you're consistent with the ground execute and glaive attacks,it should be in the drop pool
Hey thanks :) I have to double check the spreadsheet later, but I am almost certain Shadeclaimer is on the same drop line as Wrathgiver, so same method, but look for a dagger instead of sword
1) You can't kill the Captain with a bow, because it HAS TO BE A GROUND EXECUTION. You use the bow to bring the Captain to you and knock him to the ground automatically, so you can face him 1 on 1. It's easier, because the ''Shadow Pull'' ability also knocks the Captain down, you can get on him and pummel him with your fists. 2) Obviously, that will never work on a Captain that is immune to arrows...DoH' 3) There are 2 ground executions moves in the game, but I got my Wrathgiver from the fists pummeling skill that performs an AUTO execute when the Captain's health is low enough, so run his health down first, shadow-pull him, sit on him and pummel him to death. You have to have ''Discerning Eye'' skill ON so Wrathgiver is in the drop pool. If what you get isn't a sword, mash the Menu button & quit the game to restart the process on the same Captain until he drops a sword. I got mine in 4 tries, it can take more, but eventually it will drop.
Hey, you're absolutely right, it's nothing special for most of the game, but if you enjoy online conquests at a high rank, the wrathgiver with 10 wrath on executes can put you into near infinite wrath mode, as using wraith flash counts as an execute for some weird reason. So this really comes in handy against hacker forts, when in wrath mode, you can ignore certain immunities so you can easily kill a hacked orc.
This is impossible, i keep finding orcs from machine or mystic, they all have some random immunity, qnd my glaive attack keeps doing frost. Any other way to get it?

No idea what im dping wrong.... been at it for almost 5 hours. Seems like it just doesn't work anymore. If i dont get it after 3 tries i move to a different person. Does it depend on who it is?? Im not doing death threats on anyone with elements on their weapon. No legendary or epic captians and its always a ground execution. So idk
Just run around and kill captains bro.. it will drop. People want the best sword and they have 9-10 hours in the game. Most of us had like 60 hours into the game before we got one bro… just get a good build with legendary sets and then kill captains fast and sooner or later it will just naturally drop. To be honest there is better swords.. 10 wrath per execution is not that great. Poison builds or fire use different swords that add more dmg etc and those builds are stronger anyways so just play the game
For some extra information, they are an outlaw slayer hunter, quivering wreck, vunerable to stealth, fire proof, curse proof, and enraged by acrobatics
Ah from what I remember, enemies that get enraged can have a different sword added to the drop pool. If you can take him down before he gets enraged (really tight timing) you can get wrathgiver from a captain like that, but here's one of the things I noticed a while after making this video, the drops would be a sequence like dagger, bow, cloak, ring, sword and would repeat like that, so if you don't get Wrathgiver on the first sword drop, I recommend moving on to a different captain. It can be tedious, but on new playthroughs, it usually doesn't take me more than an hour to grab one.

In my ps5 i found out that when i opened My shadow of war and trying to get everything back like my old progress i took so hard to make it 100% and its gone forever it was ps4 ver. But when system Software Update came on my shadow of war game i thought it would bring my games old progress but no... It didn't gave my old progress today now am upset... :(

Nope, you can get it at any time. It might be later in the game when you get the trait that auto-loots for you, but it's not essential; it just helps with this particular strategy.
i dont know why but when I do the ground finisher talion pulls up the orc and it goes into that quicktime death thing where you press a button to kill them. still don’t know how to stop that happening
Hey, sorry for the late response. It should be "shift" and left click, it's the same button combo as the regular ground execute, but with the Ground fury skill equipped, it will do the face punching thing instead. Hope this helps, and have a great day :)

Yes, it does. I'm on PS5 and I got it 3 days ago as you can see by my comment down below. As soon as you see the dropped item, if it isn't a sword, mash the ''Options'' button (upper right on controller's face) before the mission ends, it will bring you to the game's Menu and you can restart the same Uruk by choosing ''Quit'' and then re-starting. the game. Note: Also, if you haven't already done so, there's a free file that can be downloaded from the Sony Store that transforms all of the cinematic scenes in 4K if you're equipped to output that format. It's glorious. I highly recommend it.

Hey there, it just requires finding a captain from the marauder tribe of each class, like slayers drop swords, assassins drop daggers, marksmen drop bows etc. You can do it the hard way and find legendary versions and fight them, or you can farm legendary training orders through online conquests/vendettas, upgrade a regular marauder captain to legendary, send him back to the garrison and break him down for the gear. I haven't had a chance to test the second method recently, but it has worked in the past. I hope this helps, and have a great day.
Nope, they are separate swords. You can have wrathgiver as Dark Talion or Talibrimbor and not progress past act 2, which I find maximizes wrathgiver's utility.
just came back to this and i think i found a noob sword or something, which by all means isnt terrible, at least with my existing build and just changing the sword. idk the name cuz its not upgraded yet, but it gives 5 might on missed attacks or hits, and 40 health on a 🤯 critical hit
I needed this video for originally the humiliator, but then I remember I always settle for the wrathgiver bcs I have enough might generation anyway. that just getting 10s of infinite after a captain kill is nice, but idk. hard decisions.
It still works thank you, it took a while but from what I can say is that I tried not letting the captain get up to start his monologue and I got the sword first try but I dunno maybe the game felt bad lol, Anyways thank you and I subbed. (But why is mine 9 wraith and not 10 it's lvl 52 does lvl matter?)

There are a couple of ways that can trigger. The ground execute won't work on tanks or anything with a perk I believe is called "undying" or something along those lines. I find this strategy works best on marksmen, assassins, slayers, beastmasters, and I've had good luck with commanders if you can get them away from their entourage. Hope this helps a little.

Impossible. Celebrimbor knocks him with the Hammer on ''Shadow Pull''. It's automatic. Maybe you aren't holding the Shadow pull buttons combo long enough, so the animation doesn't complete? Practice on grunts until you master the skill.
It depends on what style of gear you want, If you want Gondorian style gear, go after the Warmonger tribe Ranger style comes from Dark and Machine tribes, Númenorean comes from Terror and Mystic Rohirrim style comes from the Feral and Marauder tribes, And finally, Rhovanion gear comes from the Outlaw and Slaughter tribes I hope this helps, and have a great day :)
max stats are tied to the level of the sword when you got it (level of the Uruk you killed). Once you've unlocked the sword with the challenge & your character levels-up, you can spend Mirians to level-up the sword with you. It will eventually reach its MAX stats of 10 Wrath/execution.
1) Make a ''Death threat'' to an ordinary Captain who isn't Epic/Legendary (or they will drop stuff that is already Epic/Legendary, but can NEVER be Wrathgiver). Also avoid special traits (stated in this video. Watch it again if need be) & doesn't have a status weapon or a status sword will drop. 2) Make sure you have ''Discerning Eye'' upgrade skill, so ''Wrathgiver'' can be found in the drop pool. 3) Do exactly as he did & if you get something else than a sword, mash the game's menu option before the encounter ends and quit the game to reset the encounter with the same Captain. 4) Do NOT have any equipment piece on Talion that can give a status effect on the Captain you chose, you will get a status sword. 5) Enjoy your Wrathgiver from there. I find that doing this as soon as you have all the required skills is best, because higher levels don't spawn basic Captains often. They often have status weapons or advanced traits that prevent you from getting Wrathgiver. If you're already at high level & can't find a basic Captain, get killed by a mob Orc and see if you can get a shitty Captain from that.
It doesn't prevent Wrathgiver from dropping if they get enraged, but it takes a little more effort to get the ground execute, mainly because they take a few more shadow strikes and ground fury attacks before they will die from a head stab. That's why it's better to start with a captain you can keep from getting enraged, but if that isn't possible, try to get him before he does his intro and you can prevent it.
@Raydoe beatz what swords are dropping for you? It can depend a little on the traits, so the best captains to go after are non elemental with as few traits as possible, there are a few traits that pull wrathgiver from the drop pool and change it out for other swords, specifically: fire-proof, poison-proof, arrow-proof, frost-proof, immune to curse, vigilant to stealth, beastproof, fear of flies, battle weary, beastfodder, kil frenzy, soft head, fear of brutality, and daze by executions. Those will take Wrathgiver out of the drop pool. I hope this helps, and good luck. Edit: I shouldn't say those traits pull wrathgiver out of the pool entirely, It's just in my experience that they reduce the chances significantly and increase the chances for other swords
I keep getting the sword that have the trait of 40 health recovery on a execution also would it work if I shame those traits off of them? Because i too far into the game for the specific orc that u need to get the sword because they are too weak

I got 1 from a ''Ledge shadow execution'' & got more in pit fights when a captain is killed by the defenders/caragors of my captain. They are easy to get. I think I have 4 or 5 different ones (one freeze, one poison, one heals and one has more crit chance).

I just tested this again today (1/1/24), and discerning eye is not necessary, you get epic drops from the death threat. It still works.

So, from what I remember, I think you do need to put discerning eye on, but I don't believe prospector is necessary.
As for the ground fury execute, just keep doing the ground fury and Talion will automatically pull out the knife and complete the kill.

Maybe one criteria for a sword to drop is to specifically target a slayer class orc same as the vendetta set?

Been using your guide to farm this sword... Just kept getting the other variants of wrath giver. In the end I don't know if it was by fluke or what but let a random orc kill me, he became a captain, hunted him down killed him with a ground execution and got the sword straight away 🤷🏻♂️😂 no idea why

@@thejackal4243 just a quick one… if I double tap the jump button over the enemy and stun them with frost with a followed combo attack after to throw them on the ground and then I do the ground execution… will that change the loot that drops because I used frost with the double jump over the head of the enemy?
@King Dabuu it is probably best to temporarily turn off those skills in the character menu that can add elemental damage, just to make it a little easier. That being said; I have frozen an enemy once or twice to keep them from enraging, and still had wrathgiver drop. As long as you're consistent with the ground execute and glaive attacks,it should be in the drop pool

I dont understand. Other guides say you cant use bows. Other guides say you just need brutal execution
1) You can't kill the Captain with a bow, because it HAS TO BE A GROUND EXECUTION. You use the bow to bring the Captain to you and knock him to the ground automatically, so you can face him 1 on 1. It's easier, because the ''Shadow Pull'' ability also knocks the Captain down, you can get on him and pummel him with your fists.
2) Obviously, that will never work on a Captain that is immune to arrows...DoH'
3) There are 2 ground executions moves in the game, but I got my Wrathgiver from the fists pummeling skill that performs an AUTO execute when the Captain's health is low enough, so run his health down first, shadow-pull him, sit on him and pummel him to death. You have to have ''Discerning Eye'' skill ON so Wrathgiver is in the drop pool. If what you get isn't a sword, mash the Menu button & quit the game to restart the process on the same Captain until he drops a sword. I got mine in 4 tries, it can take more, but eventually it will drop.

Hey, you're absolutely right, it's nothing special for most of the game, but if you enjoy online conquests at a high rank, the wrathgiver with 10 wrath on executes can put you into near infinite wrath mode, as using wraith flash counts as an execute for some weird reason. So this really comes in handy against hacker forts, when in wrath mode, you can ignore certain immunities so you can easily kill a hacked orc.
I have deathgiver and Starclaimer rune but no Wrathgiver I'm also struggling.
This is impossible, i keep finding orcs from machine or mystic, they all have some random immunity, qnd my glaive attack keeps doing frost. Any other way to get it?

Bro celebrimbor betrayed him at the end and gave the ring to eltarial so talion was dying when he decided to wear the nazgul ring to live the wrath you see in the end game is the wrath of nazgul thats why it is green
You will understand better if you search shadow of war ending and see the cutscene

How are you able to kill the captains without a QuickTime event?
No idea what im dping wrong.... been at it for almost 5 hours. Seems like it just doesn't work anymore. If i dont get it after 3 tries i move to a different person. Does it depend on who it is?? Im not doing death threats on anyone with elements on their weapon. No legendary or epic captians and its always a ground execution. So idk

Just run around and kill captains bro.. it will drop. People want the best sword and they have 9-10 hours in the game. Most of us had like 60 hours into the game before we got one bro… just get a good build with legendary sets and then kill captains fast and sooner or later it will just naturally drop. To be honest there is better swords.. 10 wrath per execution is not that great. Poison builds or fire use different swords that add more dmg etc and those builds are stronger anyways so just play the game

For some extra information, they are an outlaw slayer hunter, quivering wreck, vunerable to stealth, fire proof, curse proof, and enraged by acrobatics
Ah from what I remember, enemies that get enraged can have a different sword added to the drop pool. If you can take him down before he gets enraged (really tight timing) you can get wrathgiver from a captain like that, but here's one of the things I noticed a while after making this video, the drops would be a sequence like dagger, bow, cloak, ring, sword and would repeat like that, so if you don't get Wrathgiver on the first sword drop, I recommend moving on to a different captain. It can be tedious, but on new playthroughs, it usually doesn't take me more than an hour to grab one.

Nope, you can get it at any time. It might be later in the game when you get the trait that auto-loots for you, but it's not essential; it just helps with this particular strategy.
i dont know why but when I do the ground finisher talion pulls up the orc and it goes into that quicktime death thing where you press a button to kill them.

Hey, sorry for the late response. It should be "shift" and left click, it's the same button combo as the regular ground execute, but with the Ground fury skill equipped, it will do the face punching thing instead. Hope this helps, and have a great day :)

Yes, it does. I'm on PS5 and I got it 3 days ago as you can see by my comment down below. As soon as you see the dropped item, if it isn't a sword, mash the ''Options'' button (upper right on controller's face) before the mission ends, it will bring you to the game's Menu and you can restart the same Uruk by choosing ''Quit'' and then re-starting. the game.
Note: Also, if you haven't already done so, there's a free file that can be downloaded from the Sony Store that transforms all of the cinematic scenes in 4K if you're equipped to output that format. It's glorious. I highly recommend it.

Do you have to fight the captain again? or is it just the regular Orc introduction speech? for the former, pick a new captain, and for the latter, hit him with shadow strike to keep him on the ground

Hello how to find the marauders to get the set?
Hey there, it just requires finding a captain from the marauder tribe of each class, like slayers drop swords, assassins drop daggers, marksmen drop bows etc. You can do it the hard way and find legendary versions and fight them, or you can farm legendary training orders through online conquests/vendettas, upgrade a regular marauder captain to legendary, send him back to the garrison and break him down for the gear. I haven't had a chance to test the second method recently, but it has worked in the past. I hope this helps, and have a great day.

Nope, they are separate swords. You can have wrathgiver as Dark Talion or Talibrimbor and not progress past act 2, which I find maximizes wrathgiver's utility.

Oh my goodness why tf is this game keep giving me last chance dialogue before i get to kill them? Its so goddamn frustrating.
There are a couple of ways that can trigger. The ground execute won't work on tanks or anything with a perk I believe is called "undying" or something along those lines. I find this strategy works best on marksmen, assassins, slayers, beastmasters, and I've had good luck with commanders if you can get them away from their entourage. Hope this helps a little.

Impossible. Celebrimbor knocks him with the Hammer on ''Shadow Pull''. It's automatic. Maybe you aren't holding the Shadow pull buttons combo long enough, so the animation doesn't complete? Practice on grunts until you master the skill.
Wich orc clan should i search for?
It depends on what style of gear you want,
If you want Gondorian style gear, go after the Warmonger tribe
Ranger style comes from Dark and Machine tribes,
Númenorean comes from Terror and Mystic
Rohirrim style comes from the Feral and Marauder tribes,
And finally, Rhovanion gear comes from the Outlaw and Slaughter tribes

max stats are tied to the level of the sword when you got it (level of the Uruk you killed). Once you've unlocked the sword with the challenge & your character levels-up, you can spend Mirians to level-up the sword with you. It will eventually reach its MAX stats of 10 Wrath/execution.
I already tried this like... 25/30 times and I still can't drop this sword 😢

1) Make a ''Death threat'' to an ordinary Captain who isn't Epic/Legendary (or they will drop stuff that is already Epic/Legendary, but can NEVER be Wrathgiver). Also avoid special traits (stated in this video. Watch it again if need be) & doesn't have a status weapon or a status sword will drop.
2) Make sure you have ''Discerning Eye'' upgrade skill, so ''Wrathgiver'' can be found in the drop pool.
3) Do exactly as he did & if you get something else than a sword, mash the game's menu option before the encounter ends and quit the game to reset the encounter with the same Captain.
4) Do NOT have any equipment piece on Talion that can give a status effect on the Captain you chose, you will get a status sword.
5) Enjoy your Wrathgiver from there. I find that doing this as soon as you have all the required skills is best, because higher levels don't spawn basic Captains often. They often have status weapons or advanced traits that prevent you from getting Wrathgiver. If you're already at high level & can't find a basic Captain, get killed by a mob Orc and see if you can get a shitty Captain from that.

So the orc having a lot of traits effects the drop rate?
It doesn't prevent Wrathgiver from dropping if they get enraged, but it takes a little more effort to get the ground execute, mainly because they take a few more shadow strikes and ground fury attacks before they will die from a head stab. That's why it's better to start with a captain you can keep from getting enraged, but if that isn't possible, try to get him before he does his intro and you can prevent it.
Ok so from doing this method the only sword that should drop is waithgiver because I’m doing it and the wrong swords are dropping
@Raydoe beatz what swords are dropping for you? It can depend a little on the traits, so the best captains to go after are non elemental with as few traits as possible, there are a few traits that pull wrathgiver from the drop pool and change it out for other swords, specifically: fire-proof, poison-proof, arrow-proof, frost-proof, immune to curse, vigilant to stealth, beastproof, fear of flies, battle weary, beastfodder, kil frenzy, soft head, fear of brutality, and daze by executions. Those will take Wrathgiver out of the drop pool. I hope this helps, and good luck.
Edit: I shouldn't say those traits pull wrathgiver out of the pool entirely, It's just in my experience that they reduce the chances significantly and increase the chances for other swords
I keep getting the sword that have the trait of 40 health recovery on a execution also would it work if I shame those traits off of them? Because i too far into the game for the specific orc that u need to get the sword because they are too weak

I got 1 from a ''Ledge shadow execution'' & got more in pit fights when a captain is killed by the defenders/caragors of my captain. They are easy to get. I think I have 4 or 5 different ones (one freeze, one poison, one heals and one has more crit chance).
