I’m very sorry about your diagnosis. I was diagnosed with stage 1 back in 2020. It’ll be a whirlwind, but after having dealt with crohn’s, you’re well equipped to handle the journey. The dr’s meeting with be filled with lots of information. Be sure to bring someone with you. Hopefully they’ll provide you with a notebook of information like my surgeon did. One foot in front of the other, and you’ll get through this. Best wishes to you.

@@JudyC1111 I had 5 surgeries. I had a phyllodes tumor. They told me less than 1% of ppl have that type of breast cancer and it's resistant to chemo and radiation unless it's metastasized. Mine had not, it's fast growing so mine was the size of a golf ball and had attached to my chest muscle so I lost some of that as well as my breast tissue. There is a very high chance of regrowth, however I have not had that happen thus far.

Hi Melissa-- I found your channel about a month ago. I went through breast cancer treatments in 2022, and I am now an 18 month survivor and thriver. Like yourself, my tumor was caught early. It was small, but aggressive, and I had micro metastases in my lymph nodes, so I went through both chemo and radiation. Good on you for keeping your appointment to get checked. Breast Cancer survivor here - I was Stage IIIB and have been cancer free for over twenty years now. There have been so many advancements in the twenty years since I was diagnosed and survival rates are vastly improved. You've caught it very timely. I had aggressive treatment as it was advanced. I had a procedure called High Dose Chemo with Stem Cell Rescue (the stem cells were my own not embryonic). Its still done in a few places M D Anderson in Houston Texas being one. I was in a breast cancer support group and there were five of us that had that procedure this was in the nineties - only these were women with Stage III and IV cancers and one with Inflammatory. All except one survived for over twenty years. The one with inflammatory died about five years ago, but not from breast cancer which never returned. The rest of us as far as I know are still alive without any remissions. @@JudyC1111

My sister has also had breast cancer 12 years ago, and she’s doing just great now. I was told during an annual mammogram that more breast cancer is being found, BUT less women are dying from it. Oddly, that’s reassuring. Hang in there Melissa❤

My best friend was simultaneously diagnosed with breast cancer and bowel cancer, both primaries 12 years ago. After surgery and chemo she had a complete recovery and is absolutely fit, healthy and happy today now aged 69. You made me smile with your coping mechanism, mine is exactly the same. My husband had Prostate cancer last year and it was a very aggressive cancer. We have been married for almost 37 years and I was devastated. He had surgery and he did everything the doctors told him to and to date he is doing amazing and it’s a miracle. At the time, The doctor told us it was like breast cancer in a woman. My point, it doesn’t have to be a death sentence but it can be a wake up call to life and living and caring for yourself even more. It taught both of us to appreciate life, to appreciate each other even more and our children the good and the bad that comes with life and this beautiful journey. I always say aging is a gift and it absolutely is. Get your mammograms ladies! Give yourself grace Mellissa and please know I am here if you need me. FASHION TIP FOR POST SURGERY: Yes, they have come a long way in surgery and reconstruction. I have surgery next week on my right one and they can transfer fat to rebuild it to look normal. I bought button-down shirts last year in silk from Banana Republic and they are awesome. Last year when I had surgery on both breasts, I was ok with that, but the drainage bulbs were there for three weeks after surgery and that was the hard part. There are ways to use the big binder clips to keep the bulbs from hanging and moving about. You binder clip the rubes to your pant top or belt or inside one of your shirts, jacket, or sweater. The binder clips from the office supply section of any store are so much better than dealing with safety pins. Then you take the big scarfs and hang them around your neck to detract from those drainage bulbs. Have a collection ready of soft button-down shirts that you can fall asleep in and do not need ironing. Buy a couple pairs of Chico's travelers pants. They have elastic waists, no metal, and rarely wrinkle. They are comfortable and you can add a Travelers jacket to help camouflage those drainage bulbs. The drainage bulbs were the worse part of the surgery for me. In addition, if you can wear your own socks in surgery, buy compression socks. Definitely have compression socks or compression anklets to wear after surgery. They definitely help and even if you can walk around a lot after you come home from surgery, have the compression socks to sleep in and wear while recuperating. You can use plastic no metal hair ties to fix your hair before checking in for surgery. I bought from Ulta the invisibobble hair ring. At least you have some control over yourself before going through all that in pre and post-op. The most important thing I can tell you to do is to do whatever calms you before surgery. How you go under is how you wake up. Make sure it is calm and peaceful in pre-op. Play Julie True before and after. God gave her an anointing and her music is very calming, very peaceful, and I think a must-have for healing. She can be found on UA-cam and Spotify. Get your calming teas, good light-hearted movies, good books, and all your favorite things ready so when you come home you have your routine. Keep your legs up when not walking around If you can put an extra pillow or two to elevate your feet in bed after surgery with the compression socks, that will definitely help prevent a DVT.

My brother has battled Multiple Myeloma cancer since 2017 and there is no cure just regular chemo. I’m very sorry about your diagnosis. I was diagnosed with stage 1 back in 2020. It’ll be a whirlwind, but after having dealt with crohn’s, you’re well equipped to handle the journey. The dr’s meeting with be filled with lots of information. Be sure to bring someone with you. Hopefully they’ll provide you with a notebook of information like my surgeon did. One foot in front of the other, and you’ll get through this. Best wishes to you.

@@JudyC1111 I had 5 surgeries. I had a phyllodes tumor. They told me less than 1% of ppl have that type of breast cancer and it's resistant to chemo and radiation unless it's metastasized. Mine had not, it's fast growing so mine was the size of a golf ball and had attached to my chest muscle so I lost some of that as well as my breast tissue. There is a very high chance of regrowth, however I have not had that happen thus far.

Oh my goodness, I literally just told my husband today that I was tired and going to skip my breast MRI this time!! I too do the mammogram and then six months later do the MRI because of family history. Thank you Melissa for sharing with us all. I will be praying for you.
Hi Melissa-- I found your channel about a month ago. I went through breast cancer treatments in 2022, and I am now an 18 month survivor and thriver. Like yourself, my tumor was caught early. It was small, but aggressive, and I had micro metastases in my lymph nodes, so I went through both chemo and radiation. Good on you for keeping your appointment to get checked. It's so important for all of us to maintain our annual mammograms. Best wishes to you. As a BC survivor friend of mine told me: you're not only going to be ok, you're going to be great. Breast Cancer survivor here - I was Stage IIIB and have been cancer free for over twenty years now. There have been so many advancements in the twenty years since I was diagnosed and survival rates are vastly improved. You've caught it very timely. I'm predicting you will do just fine - probably a biopsy with intensive follow-up. Hang in there Melissa; I am routing for you.

I had aggressive treatment as it was advanced. I had a procedure called High Dose Chemo with Stem Cell Rescue (the stem cells were my own not embryonic). Its still done in a few places M D Anderson in Houston Texas being one. I was in a breast cancer support group and there were five of us that had that procedure this was in the nineties - only these were women with Stage III and IV cancers and one with Inflammatory. All except one survived for over twenty years. The one with inflammatory died about five years ago, but not from breast cancer which never returned. The rest of us as far as I know are still alive without any remissions. @@JudyC1111

My best friend was simultaneously diagnosed with breast cancer and bowel cancer, both primaries 12 years ago. After surgery and chemo she had a complete recovery and is absolutely fit, healthy and happy today now aged 69.
You made me smile with your coping mechanism, mine is exactly the same. Plan an outfit or look, go online shopping, it distracts me too.

Hi Melissa. I'm 20 and from Belfast, Ireland. I just wanted to send you all of my love. I love that you're going to keep us along with you for your journey (or so that's what i inferred from the video). I'm so happy that they caught it early!! My grandmother was struck with stage 4 panc cancer during lockdown and well, that was heartbreaking. We are all here for you!! There are tons of female inspirations who have survived breast cancer. I'd suggest hearing Kylie minogue's interviews (shes a huge european star, never big in the states). Sorry for rambling, I'm not so great at these kinds of things. My husband had Prostate cancer last year and it was a very aggressive cancer. We have been married for almost 37 years and I was devastated. He had surgery and he did everything the doctors told him to and to date he is doing amazing and it’s a miracle.
At the time, The doctor told us it was like breast cancer in a woman. My point, it doesn’t have to be a death sentence but it can be a wake up call to life and living and caring for yourself even more. It taught both of us to appreciate life, to appreciate each other even more and our children the good and the bad that comes with life and this beautiful journey. I always say aging is a gift and it absolutely is.
Get your mammograms ladies! Give yourself grace Mellissa and please know I am here if you need me. If you have questions about diet or the things we changed or did more of in our lives.
Remember to only put good things on your body and in your body. It matters.

FASHION TIP FOR POST SURGERY: Yes, they have come a long way in surgery and reconstruction. I have surgery next week on my right one and they can transfer fat to rebuild it to look normal. I bought button-down shirts last year in silk from Banana Republic and they are awesome. Last year when I had surgery on both breasts, I was ok with that, but the drainage bulbs were there for three weeks after surgery and that was the hard part. There are ways to use the big binder clips to keep the bulbs from hanging and moving about. You binder clip the rubes to your pant top or belt or inside one of your shirts, jacket, or sweater. The binder clips from the office supply section of any store are so much better than dealing with safety pins. Then you take the big scarfs and hang them around your neck to detract from those drainage bulbs. Have a collection ready of soft button-down shirts that you can fall asleep in and do not need ironing. Buy a couple pairs of Chico's travelers pants. They have elastic waists, no metal, and rarely wrinkle. They are comfortable and you can add a Travelers jacket to help camouflage those drainage bulbs. The drainage bulbs were the worse part of the surgery for me. In addition, if you can wear your own socks in surgery, buy compression socks. Definitely have compression socks or compression anklets to wear after surgery. They definitely help and even if you can walk around a lot after you come home from surgery, have the compression socks to sleep in and wear while recuperating. You can use plastic no metal hair ties to fix your hair before checking in for surgery. I bought from Ulta the invisibobble hair ring. At least you have some control over yourself before going through all that in pre and post-op. The most important thing I can tell you to do is to do whatever calms you before surgery. How you go under is how you wake up. Make sure it is calm and peaceful in pre-op. Play Julie True before and after. God gave her an anointing and her music is very calming, very peaceful, and I think a must-have for healing. She can be found on UA-cam and Spotify. Get your calming teas, good light-hearted movies, good books, and all your favorite things ready so when you come home you have your routine. Keep your legs up when not walking around If you can put an extra pillow or two to elevate your feet in bed after surgery with the compression socks, that will definitely help prevent a DVT.

Melissa this hits me hard. I lost a very good friend of 22 years in May 2023. I just learned another good friend has it too and now you. My brother has battled Multiple Myeloma cancer since 2017 and there is no cure just regular chemo. I really feel passionate about providing love, support and care to everyone that has hard days related to cancer. Prayers for you and family.
