I'd be interested to see a review/comparison video now that you've had a bit of trigger time with it. Seeing what tools you've been relegated to by your government saddens me. What you need is a Ruger SFAR. It's basically an AR-10 shrunken to the size of an AR-15, with a lot of parts compatibility. Semi-auto, .308, heavy barrel, substantial muzzle brake, adjustable gas system, picatinny and M-Lok on the handguard, and it accepts AR-10/SR25 pattern magazines. The 16-inch (406mm) barrel version weighs just under 3.1 kilos naked, all for around $1300 US, or just under $1950 Australian. If I could send you mine, I would. You clearly need it more than I do. Here's to hoping your lawmakers see the necessity of such tools in your line of work and make the changes needed to make them accessible. To you and yours, I raise a glass. 🍺
Yep matey, difference here in AUS is the gun ownership is a privilege not a right…. And highly regulated at that.. Am in farm country Victoria and we have a real problem with feral cats, dogs, foxes, rabbits, pigs and deer. Every farmer I know has a .22, a .308 and/or a .223 to do feral cleanup. But… the regulation is strict on assault / semi- auto rifles managed by the Firearms Act of 1996 when the last big mass shooting event happened in Port Arthur TAS. Handguns are nearly non existent as Victoria Police has very strict guidelines on handgun ownership. But then… our death rate from firearms (excluding suicide) is .88 per 100,000 (mostly gang related ) compared to the US at 10.6 per 100,000 people. So there is a pretty amazing statistic. Having said all that… I have a Sako S20 Hunter in .308 for deer and pig shooting. I DO AGREE, that the guys who cull professionally would benefit from a better arm than the pump.
Now people realise why the internet is so important in the Outback cams check water and of course so we can watch them stream there life in the outback Brillant times we live in .
Jack you truly are a force to be reckoned with! I'm glad to see you got an upgraded rifle also. There's nothing wrong with a pump 308 Remington has made them for years now. Before they moved their manufacturing out of the USA they were great, probably still okay but many shy away from them now. Hopefully Australia will get it together for all of you and change those strict laws. I want one of those cool pumps for my collection but I think you'd benefit from the sub sonic 8.6 blackout with a suppressor, they just need to fix the laws there first.
I’m not %100 but as far as I know In every other state in Aus he could run atleast 300. Blackout suppressed as it stays in line with our cat-D regulations reason why you don’t see it much is because we just don’t have a weapons market here at all, mostly all imported if not all so when you have big commercial farmers who have there cat-D’s they will buy whatever is off the shelf that gets the job done and also it’s like a 2k import cost on top of most imported rifles
@@Keadles2 Your people need to get together and make them change those laws, that's just crazy how they won't let you defend yourselves or have a modern weapon (rifle shotgun pistol) to hunt with. Calm and steady always be “Never shoot where you can’t see.” You may kill or you may miss But at all times think this: “All the pheasants ever bred Won’t repay for one man dead.” Keep your place and silent be; Game can hear, and game can see; Don’t be greedy, better spared Is a pheasant, than one shared.

A drone could also help with getting your final counts and would probably save you guys a bit of walking. A 249g drone (E.g., DJI mini) should be more than enough to do the job. A cheap little piece of kit you might want to look at getting are open chamber indicators. it's just a piece of plastic rod with an elbow and a flag at the end. The long end goes into the breech and you close the bolt on it, with the flag sticking out to the side. Easy for anyone to tell the gun isn't loaded. You can use pipe cleaners for the same effect, just twist them onto themselves so the bolt doesn't accidently snip the flag end off.

What the hell are you talking about from nebraska? Lol. Where at? I'm from omaha
Me too! Grew up in Bennington and West O but currently living in South O.
Unfortunately our government will never allow it bro, to many mass shootings we have had and they clamped down hard on semi autos
@@lwinaus8810 Every human has the right to bear arms. If (when) your government fails you, you'll acquire them anyway, it's natural law.
Great communication. Was great to watch unfold
Love and respect from Connecticut, USA
A very informative video for someone from the states. Thanks for sharing.
Tim setting the plane to auto pilot takes me back to our flights to Mudtank except he's not having a snooze 😴😂
Half the people sayin it’s easy like a video game would probably trip on those rocks😂
It sure isn’t easy
Wow, really great. Thank you.
Your rifle was on song with the right ammo.
I enjoyed your fly out . First time viewing !
What manner of beast is laying next to the water tank at 25:34? All I can make out is a tail whip.
Great video again jack as always!!
Now people realise why the internet is so important in the Outback cams check water and of course so we can watch them stream there life in the outback Brillant times we live in .
That little one loooked perfect for the bbq
Love the videos definitely the duel cam
Fantastic video, Tks for sharing. Greetings from Zurich.
You Rock Jasmine
Jack you truly are a force to be reckoned with! I'm glad to see you got an upgraded rifle also. There's nothing wrong with a pump 308 Remington has made them for years now. Before they moved their manufacturing out of the USA they were great, probably still okay but many shy away from them now. Hopefully Australia will get it together for all of you and change those strict laws. I want one of those cool pumps for my collection but I think you'd benefit from the sub sonic 8.6 blackout with a suppressor, they just need to fix the laws there first.
They won’t Australia is tyrannical government and want to restrict more freedoms
The 8.6 blackout can fire 300 grain bullets (at least) and they're more quite than a 300 blackout even (from what you tubers say).
@@bradh74 yeah we try but then we end up getting bored. So we grab a beer and play a few slaps on the pokies with the boys ( that sentence alone is the only reason Australian don’t do shit) always to fried 🤣
The pump action makes a big difference mate.
I sure do miss the lifestyle of working on the land.
Greetings from germany, great to see aussie farm lifestyle
Thanks for watching!
Excellent stuff 👍🏻
You guys do a gruesome job with compassion. We all love animals, but it is the breeding of millions of ferals. It's terribly sad.
I support this type of real life content. I've told my friends to subscribe.
Hi Jack Jasmine and Jack’s dad I am a 73 year old woman born and bred in Australia I lived in the city but I had family living out in country areas Hay for one which is south west of Sydney. I still have family living in country areas and there is a lot of problems with wild boars camels and other animals not native to Australia I have to be with, These days we have people specially young people or people from overseas that are quite naive to what it’s like out in the bush and why you are doing what you are doing , they don’t do their homework and the damage that these animals are doing to our land. Then they complain to politicians and politicians put restrictions on people like yourself and your family.
So my heart goes out to you for trying to run at cuddle farm so people can have food on their tables or even to feed animals. These people don’t understand and don’t do their homework. Good luck.RJA
Love your content.
Can someone tell me what kind of dinosaur is on the ground by the tank at 25:35?
A Huntersaurus
It is a Perentie. Type of monitor.
Love those Victron controllers
Since it's pump action i figured Jack was shooting some sort of 12 gauge. Knowing now that its .308 makes his shooting a lot more impressive
Suppressed AR-10-style pump action is a mood 👌
It's a muzzle break chief. They can't have semi auto, definitely can't have a suppressor
@@chriscanterbury8647 Just a blast can, then. I assumed it was still possible to get a suppressor there, if more involved. Semi's I know are super restricted.
@@chriscanterbury8647for what he is doing and the amount he has to deal with he can apply for a resticted lic to get a can on that 308 its a matter off can he be bothered going through the paper work
@@Apocolovidsno way I’m Aussie a suppresser I don’t even think you can apply for one 😂 unless your the government
I've seen a guy from NSW with one, so I know there is some method to acquiring one. Not easy, I'm sure.@@HairyKnuckles222
My grandad taught me about gun safety. he would always recite the poem.
If a sportsman true you’d be
Listen carefully to me…
Never, never let your gun
Pointed be at anyone.
That it may unloaded be
Matters not the least to me.
When a hedge or fence you cross
Though of time it cause a loss
From your gun the cartridge take
For the greater safety’s sake.
If twixt you and neighbouring gun
Bird shall fly or beast may run
Let this maxim ere be thine
“Follow not across the line.”
Stops and beaters oft unseen
Lurk behind some leafy screen.
Calm and steady always be
“Never shoot where you can’t see.”
You may kill or you may miss
But at all times think this:
“All the pheasants ever bred
Won’t repay for one man dead.”
Keep your place and silent be;
Game can hear, and game can see;
Don’t be greedy, better spared
Is a pheasant, than one shared.
Have you guys ever considered using a drone for filming? It would be a neat perspective to see the work being done. A drone could also help with getting your final counts and would probably save you guys a bit of walking. A 249g drone (E.g., DJI mini) should be more than enough to do the job. Nice and small and not much extra weight to carry for someone.
Its having someone to manage the drone, control it that I find is the issue, I would love to have a voice command one, that's intuitive with AI so I can get it to ID and call targets and do the tally for me.
But that might be a bit too future warfare.
@@jack_out_the_back Yeah, fair enough. It would certainly be an exercise in communication having someone flying the drone and verbally spotting camels for you and It does take practice to get proficient with flying the drone. A voice commanded drone with AI target ID would be pretty cool. Maybe its not too far off in the future with the speed of innovation these days.
JUST STARTED WATCHIN YOU ND MANN U PUT OUT GREAT CONTENT!!!!
First video I have seen of yours I did enjoy so I subscribed 👍👏
Did you guys not even see the snake over by the tank at 25:34?
I don't think it's a snake, but rather a large lizard
similar to a monitor lizard.
Definitely a lizard
If you're out trekking and your trousers keep falling, attach some clip-on braces/suspenders to them. You will wonder how you ever lived without them.
Really insane that no semi autos allowed. One would think that somebody with a modicum of IQ would figure that you are not hunting with a semi auto but using a tool that is efficient for the job. A 20,30 or 50 round mag. would make your job so much easier. cheers guys, you are legend.
People do hunt with semi autos
@@baneofbanes I agree, i do hunt with mine but what i meant was that if the law is such in WA that one cannot hunt with a semi auto then thats one thing but culling is not hunting. cheers
Another great vid you guy's, for me the "P" in TMPFISH was for fuel pump, not primer
A family that slays together stays together.
Love watching your work, it gets my heart rate up without me having to move a muscle!! 😁
Great communication Dad👍👍
great marksmanship
Just recently found your channel. Love the content!
Another great video. 👍🏽👍🏽
39:38 do they offer an Mlok rail for that pump action? It would be more comfortable than that 1913
Bloke you’re looking Great with your Shiny Armour.
Yea anyone that says what your doing isn't hard has never had to move on ground like that it's hard enough to walk without toe punting a big rock if your not looking down at where your going
Great job.
When I did culling in Australia, the park rangers had M1 ( M14) - is it possible to get semi autos for primary producers still?
Not in Western Australia.
@@jack_out_the_back They have been banned in Ireland in the last year , all Semi auto licences issued since 2015 will be revoked.
But we are still allowed moderators .
Hi guys, average Australian would have no idea how hard it is living on the land and sit down and eat their T-bone steaks eye fillet, steak etc etc and wouldn’t have a clue what you guys go through with the camels dingoes and wild pigs, just keep up the good work. Good to see five generations I still loving what they do , Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺👨🏻🦽
I mean msot westerners wouldn’t know how to that, Aussies included.
Perhaps the average Australian needs to be told about a hard choice. If they don't want the camels, pigs, brumbies etc cleaned out then they'd better get used to life without beef.
How many acres do you guys have ? And how many Camels do you approximately think you have ?
Just on top of everything you have to deal with this problem is just another struggle and expense and a strain on your already stretched time.
I’ve been out to herbertvale and saw first hand how these cattle stations are run and it certainly is more than the average person could imagine it was an eye opener for myself.
Hope you guys get on top of the problem in the near future
So happy to see you have a new rifle.
Put the rear sight behind the scope and move your scope to the front of the upper receiver.
Some scopes eye boxes don’t allow that.
That rock field looks like ankle breaking terrain. Tie them boots on tight like ice skates. Do they have ice skates in Australias cattle ranches
I' played a few games of ice hockey when I was young 🤣
But yeah it's lace up country!
Have you tried lever action vs the pump action? They have a lever action deal that takes ar mags and triggers looks smooth as hell, haven’t shot one yet but I can’t wait to get my hands on one perfect combo of John Wayne and John Wick.
It would be great to have a tally of the camel's at the end of the season to be able to calculate the vegetation increase losses for the season to be able to compile the evidence of the degradation or rehabilitation???
We keep a spreadsheet of kills and locations.
Maybe we will do an end of year rundown on the kills etc. and potentially talk about the impact there.
@@jack_out_the_backthat would be very interesting!
very graphic but needs to be done do you get any help with the purchase of ammo ?
How big of a ranch are you on? Amazing that you have to fly to get around

Dude, its like hunting on Mars
It's a human created issue yet humans don't like the solution. It's a tough job but you need to keep doing it. Appreciate you sharing this for education... BTW, can you eat camel? I wonder what it tastes like.
running across those rocks is so dangerous, what a trooper... also why is it that you dont harvest the camel hump for food? it is a delicacy in some places
You know rock is the worlds number one building material your are rich! Rick Ranch.
Another excellent job well done!! 👍

G'day blokes. I like the way that you talked out a plan and the carried it out in a safe manner. It is a horrible thing to have to do but its them or your lively hood plus they are vermon. I reckon Jasmine did a good job keeping up with your dad, the devil she sounded exhausted but kept going. How can I send your dad something mate? If that would be OK. Now that's a STOL little ripper.
