Exactly that aerocoupe which was nuthing more than aero dynamic Band-Aid to cover up a pisss pour design by gm should never been allowed on track. All jus to catch one man in number 9
@@brianbooher7318That "piss poor design" dominated in 1981, 82, 83 and 84. The "Ford's" didn't dominate in 1985. Just Bill Elliott. I guess Dan and Ernie suck as car and engine builders if they couldn't build anything that could dominate those "band aid" GM cars. Ford fans STILL live in 1985 and haven't gotten over it in 40 years
This is a great video, excellent quality. The bad part is that it's so short, and that it's an ABC production. Could you post versions of these 1980's ABC races in the future that show the entire live satellite feed?
If anyone who produces this channel reads this, could you upload the 1987 and 1988 Firecracker races, too? They are two of my all-time favorites. Thank you!!!
Decent video quality on this one. Did NASCAR not have the equivalent of NFL Films? There should be 4K versions of many of these races. If there isn't, that's a shame.
NO. There was no equivalent in auto racing to what Ed Sabol did with NFL Films. Dick Wallen and Bud Lindemann were about as close as it got. The ABC vaults probably have the deepest well of auto racing coverage. "Wide World of Sports" would feature select USAC and NASCAR events from around the mid 60's. ABC also had a "Championship Auto Racing" segment which I believe started around 1968.
@@HODIUSDUDE Thank you! I wasn't knocking anybody. I just knew the NFL had real movie footage of everything. I bet NASCAR wishes they did too. I sure do.

The Wide World of Sports broken coverage of the Firecracker 400 was terrible. The announcers also were not easy to listen to. Richard Petty’s 200th win in the 84 race had the misfortune of being on Wide World of Sports. Never seen a full broadcast of that race.
I would watch this racing any day of the week over the current garbage.
Love watching these vintage races!! 🏁🏁
Same!
Remember when they had 2 days of qualifying?
Now they barely have practice lol
Would give anything to have this back, today.
After rules changes nascar is back to normal, the top chevy team getting the pole, leading all the laps, winning all the races and championships.

Nascar wrote the rule book to heavily favor the chevys. Its the only reason they won anything.

Most are recovered TV broadcasts. I'm just appreciative that they've found and shared them!

What was Buddy Baker thinking. Where did he finish?
Buddy must have had a tire going down.

LMAO more like 29,000 hp
That's ABC for ya.
