    The drone was a genius idea!!! Even this old goat learned something that day. And the older goat was willing to listen to you as well. The good thing at the end of the day is you have a plan for the next step. Keep moving forward and it will all come together!
    That Tri-Tip was delicious by the way!

    Very surprised that you didn’t shoot grade when you were laying out the pond. Seems that would be a key piece of information needed to plan the project.

      @jason born - does that mean you are lowering water level by 10’? Do you then have to slop back the area outside of the pond on the low side to get back to ground level?

    • @jasone679
      @jasone679 2 роки тому

      Top of water is lower than the dam, regardless of how deep you dig.

    • @jasonborn9383
      @jasonborn9383 2 роки тому +1

      @@bpmunroe Thank you for the reply. l should have been more explanatory. Obviously, water sits level. The resulting pond would have a ten foot dam on down slope side and a ten foot cut down to the leading edge of the pond. It removes a substantial amount of head pressure on the dam. Since the pond is going to be smaller, it is most likely a moot point now.

    I’m glad you were able to find a buyer for all that beautiful top soil. That will be a game changer for building the pond. You’re going to get some great money to help cover the expenses of everything, and that’s awesome if they’re actually going to come remove the top soil for you. I’m in Vegas and had to buy a couple cubic yards when I landscaped my back yard some years ago. It’s not cheap stuff... well, not for dirt. Why I recommended selling it before and fortunately your buddy Dave told you also. Glad to see you’re getting some good help from people. I know you did your research, but knowledge and actual experience can differ greatly. That’s a massive project for you. Best of luck and best wishes for everything to go smoothly. I have over 2,500 hours (and $20k) in my backyard. It was back breaking work, but so well worth it. The pond will get there and you’ll get countless years of enjoyment. God bless you and yours and stay safe, my friend!

    One thing to consider, smaller ponds are more difficult to maintain in the long run than a larger one. With the extra money from the topsoil, I would get a dozer and make it as big as you can. You will wish you had later if you don't now. You will find it goes a lot faster and easier with a dozer.
    Just my 2 cents.
