Hidden Greens is cool, but Bellwood Oaks is a much better course and just south of it. About the same rates as well.

Monticello Country Club is under $50 all the time. It originally was a 9-hole golf course before Joel Goldstrand was hired to create another 9 holes that became the back 9. It plays like two different 9-hole golf courses though.
While I love the Links at Northfork, it's NOT a "true links" golf course. There are occasional winds but no penal, mounded fairways that collect errant tee shots into hidden pot bunkers, right in the middle of the fairway!! Not a single bunker in any fairway. There's no gorse or even tall fescue. As all benign American golf course designers (especially Joel Goldstrand), all bunkering is pointless and off fairways in the rough. That punishes only the poor golfer that can't hit fairways (and because of that, it slows play down too). The Links at Northfork is Joel Goldstrand's best work but none of his designs were great, they were meant to be pretty yet playable to the average, revenue generating golfer.
Still... Northfork is Goldstrand's top track. Fox Hollow (St. Michael) is another one of his nicer, mildly challenging ones.
