I love that she's not only physically stunning, cause obviously Peter views her as the most gorgeous woman alive, but is also very ruthless and villainous in nature. when she says those things about herself out of loathing in real life, Peter smiles and says "I love that", and this scene really proves that lmao
A whale is huge, powerful. Now lies dead and is being devoured by an apetite that wont stop. Said apetite is staining love. The dead whale is peter, once big, now reduced to a prisioner. Catherines desire to "save" russia is a force that survives on what she took from him and wont stop. Her love conflicts with both his abuse and her plan, so his kiss taste bad.
it's so interesting how different they are from each other and how they think of the other. for catherine, it's romantic. they're on a beachside and he's spouting poetry. and he believes in her as a ruler. she loves him. he truly loves her. they're a romantic fairy tale. and she's going to change russia. for peter, it's...not. she's wearing intense makeup she never wears, she's literally eating a heart, and she's telling in detail how he's going to die. he loves her. but he sees her as someone she's not. someone whose violent and bloody like he is. who loves him for being bloody and murderous. it's so interesting how different they think of each other's love. she seems as something he's not/never will be and he sees her as something she is not either.
catherine is in love with peter despite his worst qualities and peter is in love with her because of her worst qualities, just as catherine sees the best in the world and tries to change it and peter sees the worst but accepts and enjoys it. tragic indeed, i'm very interested how they develop this relationshop in season 3
Who ever planned this to be added is awesome. He basically let the viewers pierce through their minds and thoughts We know that Catherine loves peter but she knows that she’s got bigger dreams for Russia that’s why she controls her feeling On the other hand, Peter loves Catherine so much but he knew what he has done and is living with the burden of regret for doing so.
Katherine eating the heart reminds me of how Daenerys had to eat a horse's heart in season one of Game of Thrones. I wonder if this one is also made of gummy bears?
@@EmpressJusticeTarot actually, the horse heart in game of thrones wasn't made of flavored gelatin, and the actress said it tasted like bleach. when she was gagging and nearly throwing up in the show, it was real

Well, this is certainly different from the Julia Ormond or Catherine Zeta Jones versions, more played straight, but I am intrigued by this as a potentially superior example of how the 21st century does historical drama. Does the narrative at any point acknowledge that Peter is the legitimate ruler?
@@megmikaelson047 Yeah I mean this is the guy who served the decapitated heads of Swedish soldiers at a feast. So something like this isn't out of the ordinary.
I don't think they did Elle justice with the makeup and costume on Peters hallucination of her. She looks like a cheap theater version of a 18th century noble woman. My favorite series, nonetheless.
I love how she literally glows because that's truly how he sees her.
And he’s literally always eating

You know their in love when they begin having highly realistic hallucinations of each due to guilt and desire🤣😫🙃

In season 2, Catherine said, "I look at you and go dry like sand." 🤣
Whoever did this makeup job should get an award
She’s so pretty while she eats his heart

That’s a really uncomfortable beach. They are looking like freezing!
thats just an average british beach lmao
ayyy it's definitely not for swimming, but cold beaches when you're dressed warm are very serene and pretty

Wow...imagine a heart made of gummy bears and having to fake that being horrible. 😄

Now I wanna watch the show
I Greatly enjoy it
gorgeous and wonderful scene

Yes. This is season 2 after Peter has abrogated. It’s not strictly accurate though, they take liberties for comedy and drama.
I mean, the subtitle of the show is "an occasionally true story."
I love this show especially after HULU cancelled Harlots.
Elle wears makeup so well😍
Anyone notice shes eating a heart? 😨❤ cool
i still dont get it why Peter appeared from a dead whale in her hallucination :/
cuz that's probably how catherine sees him, weird and random.
Catherine sees him as a violent and incoherent man sometimes so it's why he is seem killing a whale and eating it
@@megmikaelson047 Yeah I mean this is the guy who served the decapitated heads of Swedish soldiers at a feast. So something like this isn't out of the ordinary.
See Digmer's comment for an explanation.
It represents his huge, insatiable appetite. There’s literally no animal bigger than a whale.
Although Elle Fanning does a great job, she's actually far too attractive for the role.
Nearly nothing like the actual history
Is this where they filmed the cliffs scene in Nanny McPhee…?
BSG fans: “I’ve seen this one!”
1:46 when i got covid

I think that was the point. He is genuinely crazy and his perception reflects his hallucination.
@@Christian120890 yeah he sees her as this dazzling smokey eyed seductress that literally has his heart in her hands or in this case mouth
Historically accurate Catherine
Finally
Sort of, maybe, we'll get there.
Maybe, likely historical her cared little for her mother.
well it says and occasionally true story 😭
what episode is this

Wow good one...
yes i switched
лучшая!
where all the death stranding fans at
I am not Peter.
Okay
huzzah
A work of nonsense and pure fiction.
And that's the point of the whole show.
Wow you just described historical fiction
It's literally advertised as *an occasionally true story*
:)
