As a former goalie that played about a level or two above this, I don’t generally like to watch goalies on UA-cam very much because I pick apart everything and honestly, that’s not very fair to the goalie I’m watching. I don’t see what he’s seeing on the ice because I’m not there obviously. The fundamentals that I see mistakes in, I’m not gonna be that guy either. As goalies we already judge ourselves harder then most players do. I’ve only mentioned in one of your videos that you’re a bit lazy on your stick side, which happens and it’s not some sign of horrible fundamentals or anything. Just something I saw in some videos that looked like a pattern or just a bad habit maybe.
Your movement is good, post to post you’re on par with goalies at that level. Your skating needs work but that can be said for literally every goalie out there. One tip though…please don’t poke check like that again…ever. 😂…I’m just playing, but if you’re going to do that from that post especially, you need to fully commit to it, which you didn’t and you know that I’m sure. Work a bit more on your high glove side maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️, I notice you don’t get that glove up and back to your ear or even further behind your head when you’re trying to stop a high glove shot. You need to follow through with that “windmill” motion with your trapper even on shots that don’t require that effort. The muscle memory of doing it consistently is what will save you some goals against.
I’m sorry for all this…I just wanted to give some small pointers that might help you or someone reading this. No disrespect intended at all and I respect you grinding like you are bud. I am also a full right goalie, so I see a lot of things and I can explain a lot of things to someone else that’s full right also like yourself.
And I’m sure you know this, but every goalie needs to hear this daily almost, play with confidence out there. “Act as if…” as in, act as if you already know what’s gonna happen. Act as if you already won this game. Act as if you skated out to the crease with a 10 inch d**k. You know what I’m saying. Remember that there’s nothing they can throw at you that you haven’t seen a million times, especially already.
This game is so much about your mental state once you’ve reached even this level. And it only becomes more important as you move up. If the game is tied and in the last minute, you should WANT the puck in your zone and coming at you. When it’s inside your blue line and the games on the line, you should be begging to face a shot. Because when it’s down at your end, you have control over the outcome. And mentally, you should’ve already made the “big save” that kept you in the game. If it’s already been done in your mind, you can convince your body to do the same thing.
Best of luck to you though dude. Live this dream as long as you can! Take pride in it even. If I was younger I’d trade places with you in a heartbeat!

I would say you should play Manitoba Senior League, because technically it's still "pro hockey" by your definition because some players get paid, but you're not even good enough to be a starter there lol

At 0:26 several boards at the Zamboni entrance area are not installed back yet. Plus several boards from the sides where the stair entrance boards are to the floor are missing too.
***So depending on what parts/clips of this video you both are correct.!
0:26 That was shot right after a FLIP . Ie going back to a hockey rink after a concert. The grey 2x2 meter floor covers are already removed and stored away. These floor covers are installed over the ice for events. How many dasher boards are removed depends on the event size and type.
The black chairs at 0:42 are ones for a non ice event. Normally they are a different type white used for public skating patrons.
So what happens you wait until all the white daaher boards are up before having hockey practice. Most are at the beginning of this video but not all are. So Trav here is correct at the start that the boards are not all up yet so no practice just yet. :)
When the glass is not back up yet they do have hockey practice and pucks go *all over* the two goal ends. Ie many many dozens on each end. So while visiting practice some of us troublemakers :) throw them back in. Ie lob a few at Trav , Shepherd or Wyreck in goal too. Trav stopped all the 5 bucks I tossed back in. But I should have tried a Salvo of 3 at once. :)
The rink ice area is way hotter without the glass back up yet. Ie after a Flip. So playing hockey without the glass back is way more exhausting since warmer.
The plastic plexiglass larger "glass" panels are 4x8ft plexiglass 1/2 inch thick. The operations crew has groups of them on carts they bring in to add back the glass and aluminum vertical glass holding pieces.
For Disney on ice the non zamboni entrance boards are left up and the stairway board entrances are removed. Then the sides are covered with 2 sections of 2x2 meter grey flooring. Plus the non zamboni goal end covered too. So the Ice surface for Disney is smaller. The zamboni end is not covered at all but is behind the Disney backdrop .

Supposedly UA-cam pays his bills. The fed pays $150 a week. Any player playing hockey for camp change like this in the fed needs to hang it up and get out in the real world. For Travis luckily he can drop playing d league pro hockey and keep making content.

His issue is bad-mouthing teams after he leaves, He goes on and on and on for months about how he's so excited to be playing for Watertown, and once he gets released for sucking, he bad mouths them.Every single team has given Trav a chance and he hasn't impressed yet. No wonder teams wanna move on from a guy when he shoves a camera in everyone's face. "Well he gives them good publicity." What pro hockey team needs a UA-camr constantly walking around with a camera for exposure
Trav I know you're dealing with mental stuff right now and I'm really sorry, it sucks. But you need to take some responsibility and stop torching teams for xyz

They probably talk bad and if you’ve been here since the beginning you would know trav always makes sure that he’s allowed to do UA-cam

Dude, STFU. I’m so sick of people bad mouthing trav. He’s living his dream. You’re all just bitter cause you didn’t live yours. Pro sports are tough. Even at the lowest level. It’s so easy to talk shit on a computer. Real men say it face to face.

    • @ShawnNHL
      @ShawnNHL 6 місяців тому +14

@@trav4oilers You're right, you're entitled to do that, but like other commenters have mentioned, it's not a good look for you to be saying "raise your hand if you're not excited to be in watertown." It's probably why teams have no issue moving on you, and it's probably affecting the way other teams view you
Now, I don't think you're as bad as everyone likes to say you are. But I know you've heard the saying, "If everywhere you go smells like shit, maybe you're the one who smells like shit." If every team is lying or taking advantage of you, or misjudging your skills, then at some point you need to look inward.
It sucks to see you go through this. I really enjoy the vlogs and want to see you back with another pro team, but from a non-biased POV, I really think you need to ask yourself why this keeps happening

Trav very much reminds me of an ex I use to have. In the 6 month span of us living together she had well over 8 different jobs. And each time it was the same old song and dance. Day one of the job she would come home excited and tell me how amazing all her co-workers are and how it was the best job ever. Fast forward a few weeks and she would be singing a completely different tune; and would just be bad mouthing everyone and everything. That toxic mentality/outlook gets old and like others have said… at some point maybe the problem isn’t with everyone else it’s really with you.

this vidoe is hard to watch knowing "the facts" youtube timing is always an issue. I hope you get another chance, i would think what you bring to the taqble in terms of outside attention would cause the team to keep you around, I can't believe the Elmira River Sharks havent called you yet , but I guess that FPHL 19 man roster is a real limitation

Nice video. Oddly enough, you'll be on the team photo but you weren't with them that long. Not a big deal. I saw a number of other players get put on waivers after you. I think you need some new goalie coaches. At 4:46, you didn't even move after the player in the blue jersey passed it to the guy in the red jersey. In a run-and-gun style of league without good defense, that is going to burn you all day long.

Sure but as a tendy you need a bit of that attitude to build up confidence. Most haters here I bet are not willing or brave enough to stand between the pipes facing pro level shooters. recording your staff, teammates, locker room, practice, shared living home should be made illegal, a lot of people are introverted and camera shy, u are making some teammates extremely uncomfortable, affecting their mental and thus their game. most people dont want to be on youtube getting shit on in the comments for their play or looks. u are directly responsible for peoples bad performances. not only is your own performance terrible year over year but i guarantee that your teammates complaining to management in private made the team owners decision to let u go a lot easier.
just all around cringe walking around with a camera (as a 5th string 30 year old goalie) filming people in the locker room, the food and begging people to compliment ur value village blazer.
