Marios been going really hard in helping me! I am super thankful for the Crew oi have around me. Everyone of my Guys Brad, Austin, Nick, Gordo, Jordan, Bret, Chachi,Donno, Bjorne,Erik I wouldnt be able to do what i do without them!!!!
My RPS triple for a 2jz/t56 had tight tolerance. The kit came with lapping compound to slide the disk back and forth to loosen it up.
Good idea.
Over the years I have had clutch discs that are tight on the splines and I have found that crud and corruption build up over time and my cure has been to buff the input shaft with a scotch-brite pad and then put a little lapping compound on the clutch disc and input shaft and then work it (them) to get them to fit and work properly. Afterwards I clean everything back up and the lightly apply a high temp synthetic grease to the input shaft. You only want to apply the grease very sparingly and should see little to no grease buildup after sliding the disks back and forth. Good luck and have a great day and a most excellent tomorrow
Really sounds like a manufacturing mistake on that input shaft
Love from New Zealand my bros. Go hard. Thanks for the vids.
I would try contacting the manufacture of the input shaft. It seems like a defect and the tolerance is just slightly out. If you're looking for a cheap fix you can file down the inside of the splines with a carbide disk by hand.
What’s up with phong ?
He moved away a while ago I believe
Dang I loved his work I hope they atleast stay in contact it would be nice to hear an update on him
I mss him. Hope he’s living his best life.
He was always making something cool like the grill
16:31 on the certain manufacturers clutch that is sticking, could it be that the clutch material hot dust is getting minutely welded on the clutch plate grooves guys??
✌️👍🇬🇧
Almost seems that it’s material related i agree
Get some of those harbor freight kneepads. I'm only 34 but I'm always bending down screwing and inspecting things like y'all. I swapped my wife's diff on her 2003 pilot in her apartments and man those kneepads really have made a difference on my back and knees man. Random but I see y'all putting in that work and later on in life things can be prevented if we just keep ourselves healthy and abuse our bodies to a minimal.
How about some valve lapping Compound on the shaft and clutches knock off any high spots
MARIO!!! reviving the goofy channel!! dude, you have a thing for this.. i'm tellin' ya... being yourself in front of and behind the camera is NOT a talent everybody has... keep doing this and it will get easier!! [almost time for dual channel ownership... get paid!!]
What about putting some lapping compound on and old shaft and add some tolerance to the clutch’s that way?
Who needs a good Transmission, Mario Got you, 👽👍🏻
So you don't have to machine the input shaft ,I would take a file to the clutch disc splines to loosen then up a little!
It's toight like a tiger. I hope you get a great pass when it's all back together with the new box and triple clutch.
Buy a race direct from Aussie they work mint
Different manufacturer different spec different tolerance
Mic the shafts and discs. Compare to what the specs are suppose to be.
GTS transmission issues?
Look at the tilton twin disc
What material is the input shaft made of???????? If it’s cheep alloy could it be expanding excessively with the heat?
Underrated comment
Look like dog/strait cut engagement so i doubt its cheap alloy.
🔥🔥
The pitch on the machined splines on the discs is your problem !
7:04 of the vid is the exact issue. Nothing is consistant. If you had shafts that worked before and they are starting to get tighter, than its a machining issue. That really sucks, but move on and never look back! Cant wait to see this cars full potential.
Hell yeah!
killin it!!! love the content
This is the kinda stuff about race cars nobody sees watching PB passes. Sometimes it’s just “what the hell? Try this? No try this? No, wait wut?” 12 year olds talking about supras don’t get this stuff.
This is what it means to BUILD cars.
Tell Kyle that are going to borrow the clutch and transmission out of his prelude
I keep telling him we’re gonna pull it out haha
@@GoofyBuiltShane I would it’s just sitting there Kyle is very understanding lol
😂
he would probably only notice in 3 years anyway
That sucks. Mabe wait and get the ppg shaft. Bummer bro. That ppg shaft looks way more stought!
I would break out caliper, measure disk inside and outside and the shaft. Call the manufactures.
Take some green scotch bright pad and some break clean and try to clean the splines of the trans shaft
Just get action clutch.seem like clutch masters machine work isnt consistent
We need a phong update goofy.
I have a set of dss 5.9 axles with upgraded half shaft for a h22 in a eg/ek or dc for anyone that buys the trans. $850 for the axles with intermediate shaft
the groves on one shaft is v cut the other shaft is square cut.
Super interesting. Might be year specific or made incorrectly. Also, may need to be ground down to fit the splines like Irspeed in the comments said. 🤔
Machining issue. The slots are cut tappered with the wrong tolerance
If that disk was the closer to the flywheel one maybe the Input shaft twisted the splines of the disk a bit
9:30 😂
The groove geometry on yours is different than the ppg. Make something work for now. But buy a new input shaft
The more you know...
I promise as soon as I can afford it, I will buy a t-shirt. Last one I bought, "I love PFI" never arrived. Not a pfi problem. I couldn't afford the better shipping option and it got stolen somewhere.
Trying to score free merch by claiming a shipment never arrived then crying poor is a real scumbag move.
I agree! If your order never showed up and u assume it got stolen and didn’t follow up with PFI that’s on you! Dick move to throw them under the bus! I’ve never not gotten refunded or re shipped order from any company if lost in shipping! It’s called follow up , nobody is a mind reader!
@@kenwillis8487 yep, just another internet scammer.
Your shaft doesn't look like it is as polished as the one next to it, I would get some fine emery cloth and polish the out side of of the splines looks rough in pic.

From within this posted video and previous posted videos at the track H, the input PPG transmission input shaft clearly, certainly has external portion gears with a different shape, deeper, more square cut compared with the current transmission input shaft, thus not matched with the triple disk clutch assembly which Jaime and others use including other twin or single disk clutches.
Seemingly from posted videos at the track along with this one, if the transmission shaft could simple be replaced with the PPG input shaft, then it would have be done; correct ?
Thus the following seems possibly worthwhile:
A. can a PPG transmission input shaft be modified to match with the current transmission internally -> thus have the desired external gear shape for the desired clutch assemblies ?
B. can the current transmission input shaft have the external gear shape be modified to match with the desired clutch assemblies ?
C. does the PPG transmission input shaft, external gears match will all clutch assemblies including the previous twin clutch ?
D. is the current transmission more limited with force, torque, power capability, such nearing the limits with current goals, thus need upgrade for the next level performance, power, speed, quickness range as with Jaime's "Brother-in-law" civic or others ?
E. Perhaps there some other vehicles within the PFI Speed "Team", group that could benefit from this transmission within their next steps with improved performance goals ?
All The Best, Sincerely
D and maybe E
@@GoofyBuiltShane Thank You for Your reply 🙂
Does that mean also that the input shaft is not able to be swapped, modified per A, B, C ?
B is probably possible the trans or clutches could be modified to fit but we would like things to just be right so when at the track we can just install spare or new parts when needed. The Ppg parts only work with the matching Ppg parts
@@GoofyBuiltShane okay, Shane, and Mario, thank You much for Your reply and clarification.
All The Best, Much Success, Sincerely
🤓🤓
Call ppg they will send u a new shaft
This isn't a PPG trans unfortunately.
I’m still not seeing the merch available on the PFi site. Where is the link?
There is a link in the bottom of the description as well I put it as a link on the video in the top right corner. If you search stay goofy or goofy on the pfispeed site should come up
Good call bros!!!
Check out action clutch, mine has been on point since day one.
Or get a Action clutch
Just h to B the car with type r 1996 to 1997 obx1 gear and Jamie’s triple disc your going 8s
So over dealing with this trans over the past few years. You are one of the few making moves to go fast and this continues to be the issue.
😜👍🇦🇺
Goodmorning goof
🤙🤙🤙🤙🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
I get tired of front wheel cars they can't hold much tq or power
