  • Halloween's the time to celebrate numerous monsters. And this franchise is one of the best ways to show the spirit. This show has not just nostalgic value, but a ton of creative monsters. So we're gonna run through them all for Halloween this year.
(Also I should mention I had a lot of issues behind the scenes. ie: my computer dying out and the mic acting up, I tried fixing it all up, but in case I missed anything, sorry in advance).
    Happy Halloween, Everyone.

Scooby Doo was unintentionally a very important cartoon, when it comes to children's development. For those able to see it, the cartoon taught you to not fall for superstition and claims that magic is real, what a grift is and that those running them are every day people and to not fall for their bullshit. This can be applied to so so many aspects of life and truly does help kids cut through a lot of the bullshit even adults are trying to convince them of and to think for themselves, but most importantly, think critically and always investigate (don't just take what you're being told at face value). Invaluable lessons and Scooby Doo has it all.

Scooby Doo is the anti X-files.
No matter how many times it was a guy in a suit, Scoob and Shaggy always assumed the ghosts and monsters were real. No matter how much blatant evidence Scully got last episode, she always doubted the super/paranatural by the next episode.

What stood out for the Snow Ghost for me is his brutality. He’s not trying to scare them off, he’s trying to KILL the gang. And by cutting them with a buzzsaw, blowing them up with dynamite, crushing them with a barrel, and even dropping them off a cliff.

I think one of the things that makes the Creeper so memorable is also that it's one of the few episodes where Mystery Inc. isn't actively looking to solve the case at first; they're out at a barn dance and the Creeper goes after them b/c they have a piece of evidence that could prove who's behind the mask (and of course, the kids don't even realize they have it). Most other episodes have them stumbling upon a mystery and pursuing it out of curiosity; with the Creeper, they don't really have much of a choice.

    • @rickw9291
      @rickw9291 2 роки тому +15

Similarly with the Puppet Master, although they initially seek out the mystery, the gang decides it’s too scary for them and they try to leave but get locked in. Like with the creeper, they’re basically forced to solve the mystery which made it a lot more memorable to me

    • @theenderdestruction2362

    • @acefist5502

the creeper is one of the stupidest villain in term of evil plot. Carswell kept the bank guard in his house, so when the guard when missing 4 kids and a talking dog could testify that carswell’s house was the last place known where the Garuda was. Carswell would also be suspicious for not trying to increase security in the bank. He had really now way of success in his plot even without the kids’ meddling.

My favorite part of the Elias Kingston episode, was the look Uncle Stuart gives at the end when his niece asks him why he did what he did. It implies that he regrets what he's done and knows that he made a terrible mistake. His greed and jealousy ruined his relationship with his brother and niece, and ruined his own life.

Captain Cutler has to be my favourite, basing a ghost off an old diving suit from the 1800's was unique and the seaweed that gave the creepy glow is an awesome touch. Almost 40 years later this design was used for another vilian the Cyclops of the first Spongebob movie making Cutler tame compared to it. I mean killing sea creatures for decoration?! I grew up watching Scooby doo and Spongebob but didn't make the connection until years later.

While I kinda personally prefer Captain Cutler’s Ghost I still have to agree with you on everything else. I mean, given that he grew to such a MASSIVE size in Monsters Unleashed and on top of him having his own personal harpoon, I’d say that he’s just as much a threat to people as he is to the fish in the sea.

I very much was expecting Captain Cutler to be #1
That spooky eerie diver suit stuck with just about every Scooby-Doo fan.
The big heavy scuba suit gave Cutler this bulky, imposing muscular monster vibe.
The way he's animated, with his large arms hoisted upwards as he marches at the Gang is just an iconic Scooby-Doo scene.
Having no face, just a static diving helmet gives this true discomforting mystery behind him.

    • @Master-Fawful958

I know, that’ scene was so great! And in some, it’s arguably the closest a villain ever got killing Scooby. NO JOKE, he literally almost got STABBED IN THE THROAT! Go back, watch the movie, and try to tell Scooby didn’t have a near death experience. And the Tar Monster came pretty close to offing the rest of the gang too, even if I’m not really a fan of the guy. I just think it was cool concept but poorly executed, I mean he’s just a walking black blob with green eye. He was a kinda stressful enemy in Night of 100 Frights and a bit too creepy in Monsters Unleashed. That’s why I never liked him, and it’s not like CyberChase added anything new, in fact his brown textures in the movie made him look more like he was made of mud then actual tar. But that aside, I agree that was a great scene in Monsters Unleashed, if not my favorite scene.

Also, regarding The Black Knight: The Professor's Spectacle's were also what he was trying to relay to whoever would come looking for him because that's what gave Mr. Wickles away.
By wearing his own glasses inside the helmet, he was able to reflect the moon itself through the tri-visor from the museums' skylight panes, henceforth creating The Black Knights' crazy looking eyes.

Pretty accurate assessment; though for the creeper I’d add his voice is a big part of his legend; him yelling his name at the top of his lungs is iconic. I just noticed that the ebeneezer shark guy in the cap cutler episode’s diving suit is the same one as the skeleton in the ship underwater; given we don’t see the character after his exposition scene is it possible he’s a real ghost/related to the literal skeleton in the graveyard of ships? That would be a very disturbing spin off for a supernatural type episode somewhere else addressing it.

One thing I love about the Puppetmaster episode is that the gang had absolutely no reason to get involved other than being narcs. Like, Shaggy finds the violin case full of money, then the mysterious black car it fell out of comes back and takes the violin case from Scooby. All were tough picks except for #1. To me, nothing tops the Space Kook, he’s just that awesome.
Admittedly, the Ghost Clown is probably the one with the most horrifying plan, and he is one of the few villians that actually tries to kill them rather than just scare them.

I'm actually glad the headless spectre made it to a good spot on your list. I've always felt that he was a good villain, and I also think the episode has a nice and creepy atmosphere even though they've done the haunted house bit before. Also, yes to the creeper. Not only is he a fun villian, but that episode as a whole has a lot going on - action, a different twist (the gang actually being teenagers), a good song, the bank guard actually being injured... Finally, I fully agree with you on the ape man. Even as a kid, I couldn't really deal with that episode, and as an adult, I feel more annoyed by it and the villain as I did before. Nice channel you have here, good sir.

I always liked the Phantom Shadows as a kid because they looked like Ghost Face and that seemed more grownup when I was younger. As an adult they're still probably my favorite design in the franchise; I was very disappointed we didn't get to see a "real" version of them with the other older monsters in Monsters Unleashed, since the film teases them several times without actually doing anything with the costume.

We sort of got a "real" version. There was a crossover between Scooby Doo and a show called Supernatural, and in it a real ghost entered this specific episode. Check it out, its pretty good, though you might miss some stuff if you haven't watched Supernatural.

Penrod Stillwall is my favorite antagonist of this show because a lot of people would probably want to protect their dilapidated inherited property from curious teenagers and ill-intentioned neighbors. And even if he had actually hurt any of them, castle doctrine would've protected him.

Ahh such a fun list! The Creeper was also my absolute favorite as a kid; I remember asking my parents over and over to rewatch the creeper episode on vhs lol.
I think the scariest villain for me by FAR was the Green Ghosts. They were TERRIFYING in an episode where they’re popping out of walls, putting people in coffins, and just genuinely looking disturbing to me, even today. I rewatched that episode not too long ago, and idk the nostalgia or something still unsettles me a bit.
    Great list, thanks for sharing!

I agree with your choices for top 1 and 2. I personally would've put the Phantom ShadowS at 3 just because they really did freak me out as a kid. They always left me feeling like something with me when I watched them. I also like the review for the Puppet Master. He was also terrifying, but I feel like something else that was unique about him that wasn't mentioned or given credit to would be his laugh. I don't know about anyone else, but his laugh was pretty creepy and gave to his creep factor. You said something about when we first encounter his full face and color being creepy in the theater, but what came after first seeing him was that laugh that you wouldn't be able to forget. I also want to give credit that out of all 25 villains he was the only one that could make Velma not like looking for clues anymore and I think that deserves some brownie points. But this was one of my favorite tv shows and I still love it to this day. Thank you for making this video. Happy New Year

I grew up on this show, thanks to my mother who watched it when it first aired in 1969! I agree with most of the rankings, but I'd give top spots to Space Kook, Charlie, and the Headless Spector (I love the Haunted House Hang-Up episode cause of the set design.). I also agree with the Phantom Shadows: that episode freaked me out when I was younger due in part to some of the reveals and Scooby's expression when he went down the coal shoot. Gotta say though, the BEST part about your ranking was mentioning the chase scene music by Austin Roberts and Danny Jansen: that's what made season two so memorable.
