    Wow, this is how you do a tour. Your cruising experience shines through. You know exactly what to highlight and what to skip. Very interesting! Thank you.

      @@midshipcinema Watch a lot of cruise channels. Also yacht tours. Very few get two basic things right:
      1. Show the thing, not just your face. And by "the thing" I mean the ship/boat haha! You and Mike know how to frame the scene and transport us there.
      2. Pacing, pacing, pacing. Either too quick pans or too long tedious lingering on things that could be dealt with much quicker.
      You just nail it every time. Very impressed!

      @@zmack862 I'm practically blushing but so appreciate your comment. I try my best to avoid the "influencer" game. I don't have a lot of subscribers (yet, lol) but the ones I have get what this is all about. Again, thank you! :)

    Thanks again Peter. Fantastic ship. I loved the Scandinavian design. The way you were communicating with Mike reminded me of Howell Houser. Thanks again for making my Sunday morning.

      Thank you, Frank! LOL, I used to be a fan of Huell Houser, so maybe he was a subliminal influence. :)

    You did an awesome job on the tour. Wish it had been published before I booked mine. I would have had much less trepidation for the year waiting to get aboard. You should have gotten a cabin on the floor above, they have twice the closet space. We only used a quarter of it. Plus it has free laundry.

      Thank you so much, Jake. I'll be doing another, more detailed look at the ship at some point in the near future. So glad you enjoyed it and yes, if the ship weren't fully booked, we would have loved to get one of the cabins a deck higher. :)

      @@midshipcinema We boarded about 2 or 3 weeks after your trip and saw many of the same crew. Jose Carlos, your coffee guy was amazing and one of our favorites. I notice you don’t spend much time on the food which I must say is refreshing. At that level of cruising the food should be as outstanding as it was. Again, a very good production.

      Well, we need to do a cappuccino one day. A real one, not those latte-like ones in big soup bowl cups that are so popular now. Thanks for watching and posting. :)

      Thanks, Frank! Just dumb me who created a low res version after a disastrous attempt at trying to load a super high res version that was literally taking about 30 hours. I went from too large to too small and now have found the right size file to make.

    Hi Peter. I love these 2 ships and what they can do. Especially the Aula. An incredible space for film, and lectures. I could also envision classical music performances must be incredible there too.
    You know, if you put a die hard (Early/Late dinner) (show lounge, classic cabins, bells and whistles, cruise ship reviewer) on these ships, they don't seem to abide well with these ships at all, especially the "Lack of Set Structure, Exploration and Scientific" aspects of them either. Which is a shame. If you are going to sail on an Exploration ship, then ones mind must wish to go there as well.
    I've seen some pretty awful failures since these ships came into service. I enjoyed your review.

    • @midshipcinema
      @midshipcinema  7 місяців тому

      Hi Jeremy! Yes, the Aula is a gorgeous and useful space. On our trip, they rarely lifted the screen but it was used in the eves for classical music and a great singer on a few occasions. This is definitely not a ship for the self-indulgent influencer types but savvy journalist type reviewers have been giving both OCTANTIS and POLARIS their much-deserved raves. Viking seems to know its market well. Thanks for sharing and posting. I do plan to do a full top to bottom Decked! tour soon. :)
