In this episode of the Mini Cooper F56 flood damage project, we try and figure out why the heated seats are not working and why the seat belt warning light is flashing even when no one is in the passenger seat.
Corrosion is the main culprit and we investigate how to irradicate this and get the car back to showroom condition.

Should have disconnected the battery before taking the seat off i had an f56 cooper s and took it off without knowing and had to go to a garage to plug it in and erase the code for the airbag! Hope it helps

Hi Guillermo, really appreciate the feedback. Yes could have done but i was driving the car around while it was out so the error was always going to pop up. I'll change the drivers side and get the errors cleared.

Those bits aren’t the heater elements they are just the springing for the seat . Elements are deeper inside the seat. Was the car in salt water ?

Hi Muson, Thanks for the comment and of course you are 100% correct. Looking back at the video, it is pretty obvious they are the seat springs. Why would they have the heater element that far down!! On the water situation, I really don't know, i would imagine its freshwater given where the last owner lived plus all the floods in the country over the winter. Is there an easy way to tell? Don't fancy liking the springs!!

Great result Barry thanks for your content. I have just purchased my first Copart car a 2018 cooper which is flood damage. I hope I have as much luck as you. One question re insurance of all cars do you have a trade policy would love to know more about that side of flipping.
    Thanks Rob

Great stuff Rob. Please keep the info coming on the car as i am always interested in other builds. On trader insurance, I did get a few quotes of anything between £800-£1500 per year but decided against it as I was happy to have them 3rd party only on my own personal car insurance.

Did you figure out the occupancy issue? I just ordered a heated seat module also for my passenger seat which is in the mail.

Did you have any problems with the starter motor because I have recently just bought a flooded mini and it comes up with an ignition/starter error

Hi Daniel, No i didnt but could see why yours could have an issue given those are electronic-based. Have you tried a fault reader to see if any codes pop up? You could also see if the battery is giving enough juice to those systems. I had to change mine as it was in pretty bad condition after all the electronic issues.

Now We Drive I have got it up and running now I drained all the water out and changed the filters the problem was the starter motor so it was a quick and easy fix
