Great video! We are driving down to Andermatt from Germany on Wednesday. We are taking our kids skiing there for the first time. I loved the tips about the grocery store and honor system dairy products and info about transportation. We will be stopping by soon!
I’ve never been skiing, but it was beautiful. I love how it was so bright once you got past the fog. I love that it’s a town and not just a resort. The fondue looked delicious.
Excellent tour, thank you! I think it is so dreamy there & I long to go. That church is so beautiful, thanks for showing that. And the honor system dairy is just so cool. We have some of that in rural Alaska here but nothing like the mountain infrastructure & gorgeous towns!
@@FaithandActiondotnet Thanks for watching and for your kind comment. It is an amazing place, very beautiful and historic. Of course Alaska is also unbelievably beautiful with true wilderness. We lived in Fairbanks for a while many years ago, had a great time there. Thanks again.
Wowww....we stayed here for a week at the Radisson Blue in October last year and it was amazing. Now this is our favourite village in Suisse. Thank you!
@@HopscotchInteractive I don’t remember exactly, but I think it’s just a bit down from the church. But the town is so small that if you just wander around a bit you’re sure to walk by it. I hope you find it, the cheese was delicious. Thanks for watching and asking your question.
Well, this is my home mountain... The place was kinda dying tbh before the Egyptian purchased the lift company (vail purchased from him only one or two years ago) but frankly the place is pretty much ruined for the locals. Gentrification us style. Day pass used to be 58 bucks and there weren't too many people. Now it's at least 90, but they use dynamic pricing so it can get much higher, and it's crowded. Overall the riding experience is greatly diminished and the locals, apart from the real estate owners, don't profit much. The resort jobs are all low pay and are done by immigrants. I will admit that the local construction companies made a killing building the hotels and whatnot, but again, the bosses pocket mots of that, not the workers. It's a bittersweet experience, for sure. I'm not convinced it's a net positive quite yet. The good news is that climate change will kill the resort off within 25y anyway due to lack of snow so there's that 😂
@@mysterioanonymous3206 Sorry to hear about the impact on the local people in the area. I suppose when you visit a place for only a week or two, it’s difficult to see past the glamorous veneer that is applied for visitors. Of course, climate change is something that is greatly impacting many of these beautiful destinations. I’m curious, you said that the area was basically dead before being purchased by foreign investors, what do you suppose the best course of action would have been for Andermatt? Thanks for watching and for providing your knowledgeable input.
@@travelingexpats a dying countryside is a global phenomenon, you see it, famously, in japan, italy, spain, but all places are affected incl. switzerland and i don't think you can stop it. tourism is rather high impact low value industry, esp for high income countries like mine. it is what it is. i don't think i have the solution. i think it's too crowded, switzerland is very densely populated, and it's time to give back to nature.
