Dude you looked strong is all clips that I saw of you passing by. If there that I feel i hear from you the most is that if you finish strong and you can keep focused during a race then you are successful. Keep on keeping on man and keep posting because I love your videos
Glad I'm not the only one who can't sleep beforehand. Thanks to what I've learned from watching these videos I posted my first sub 2 hour sprint. 3rd time out! Thanks Taren
I love watching this. I am from Cd’A and used to love going and to cheer on the athletes. I now live in Georgia. I love seeing my hometown. Great job!!!
It was SO fun to track you on Sunday and cheer for you from home! Thanks for the video recap, and BIG kudos to your amazing wife Kim for supporting you, taking pictures, and just being in the journey with you and with US. That speaks volumes of her AND of you
yes!! You crushed that bike course!! So nostalgic, and exactly how I remembered it from last year. Always impressed at how quickly you get these videos edited and uploaded, not to mention right after a race. It took a lot to get my first race vlog up. Fun fact, we spent the same amount of time in the water, I was doing an Olympic 1500m though 😅This video makes me want to go back to Coeur D'Alene, do more 70.3's, get faster, and make more videos 🔥 As always, thanks for ALL the inspiration.
Congratulations Taren! You were my inspiration to help navigate me thru my first Sprint Tri and WILL be my inspiration to lead me thru my first IronMan 70.3. Well done on your finish!
Great race Taren! All that training really paid off. You inspired me to do my first 70.3 earlier this month in Victoria (at 50 years of age) - keep up the good work!
Hi from France Taren, congrats! You made it in 2 fields: a new PB is THE reason why we're all part of the TRI tribe. Second; once again you proved to be a huge inspirator/motivator. Thanks man I'll think of you next Sunday (A-race: 70.3...in the middle of a heat wave). One last thing: merci NTK for your support regarding "la French minorite"😈😊
Oh man, those heat-wave races are a killer -- but you've been training in the heat so I know you'll do ok! Keep us posted on your results! (NTK says: De rien, Renaud! C'est ma pleaseure!)
I personally feel that if you want to host a Triathlon Volg, offer training programs and advice to other people, you need to have cred and be able to back it up yourself. You have proved you know what your doing and you’re walking the walk. I for one will keep watching for sure. Great results, well done mate! Awesome, cant wait for our race season to come round in late Nov 👍👍👍👍
Congratulations on a great race Taren. Getting results so close to your goals is a great feeling. Keep up the great work. (And it seems no passing out, no medical tent, no dehydration issues this time - so that’s great too.) A very successful CDA 2018 for you!
Awesome job Taren. It was great to meet you. I broke my PB by 35 minutes. Coeur d'alene is a great race I loved the central location good for the kids to play on the playground and come and give me hugs to keep me going during the run.
Amazing job Taren, Phil and Cheyenne! I like the slow-mo at 2:40 where it looks like you're saying to NTK "IT's F***ING HARD!" lol excellent video... great job recording NTK... and great performance Taren!! esp the run time.
Great work buddy. So chuffed for you on the PB and your running style looked strong as an ox. Sounds cheesy but at the end of my race this weekend I knew I was in 2nd place and thought ‘what would Taren focus on now’ answer...technique all the way baby!
Haha! Oh yeah, I come out of every race saying, "Oh boy, okay, I can fix this and this and this..." lol. But I am SUPER happy with my new style of training which evolved out of my achilles injury! Less really is more, who knew!?
Damn Taren, you're giving me some serious CDA love feels right now. I'm originally from CDA and grew up swimming off the beach exactly where you were. Saw the full and went from not really knowing what all it was to eventually deciding I wanted to do it. Eventually moved away from CDA (*stunning* in the summer, not great to live full time,) and now the Full is gone, but I'll probably go back and nab that half just for the hell of it at some time. Great course, isn't it? Well done!
Yeah, lived there 20 years. Great place to train! Probably not worth the travel time for you, but the "Coeur d'Alene Triathlon" (Olympic) is a fantastic race too! Same swim, but then goes up into the mountains. Tons of climbing. Great course! I've done it twice, and it's always a blast. Anyway, great job man!
Congrats man! Very well executed. If you are open to / and physically able, it appears like you have some free watts to gain on your bike position. Imho, it's definitely worth exploring.
Hey @Triathlon Taren, what happen to that bike when you pulled yours out!!! Seems the fella beside you did not rack his bike very securely as you see it falling over at the 1:53 mark
Congrats. Great job. What a time! Hey, I know you haven't yet tried a full IM but I am wondering how you will alter your training for an IM, other than just training more? Would you focus as much as speed work or more on endurance?
Looking strong Taren! Running form looked on point! Though I think there is still a pretty big improvement on your bike positioning aero/cda wise. At this point you're still looking like a triathlete on the bike, I think you can get a 30-40w improvement if your starting to look like a time trialist more ;)! On to the 4;30 barrier!
Great job Taren on the pb. There's time to gain on that run you obviously have the engine a sub 90 mins would have got you a top 5 yesterday.. not trying to take away from your result just think thats where your biggest gains are 👍
great Race... your bike was just okay, that was wat i thought at first, but your run was incredible...Great scaled stages! great Job at all... did you have blister on your feed? (i don't know if blister are the right word, i'm from Germany ;))
Nice! I was very jealous, I so wished I was racing! Well done - great time! Thanks for all the videos dude - You inspire me to be better. Are you doing the 70.3 Worlds in September?
One of these days it'll happen -- NTK wants to visit Australia again, she LOVES it. She may leave me for an Aussie man though, she's obsessed with the accent!
Taren I was there with you in CDA doing my first ever half Ironman distance triathlon and you were one of my most trusted "tools" that I utilized during my training over the past 9 months. I got to shake your hand and tell you thank you in person (wish I could have talked more at coffee but we had a lunch date w/ family). I was able to finish right at my target goal of 6 hours, and I want you to know that your UA-cam channel is very motivating, educational, and helpful for beginner triathletes. So keep doing what you're doing! Side question, I was doing great until the run (42 min. swim, 2:59 bike) but my run was horrible due to quadriceps cramping. I was clearly not dehydrated because I was stopping to urinate often on the run, is it possible that I over hydrated and flushed out my potassium and salt? Of all the training and preparation I did, nutrition is still the most confusing for me. It is hard for me to practice a 6-7 hour training session often enough due to family time commitments to play around w/ nutrition planning. Any general advice?
Great race taren! Was awesome to see you got a shot of me in the race video!! This was my first 70.3 and it went great until the run and I got massive amount of cramping in my legs at mile 3 had to walk/ run the rest of the race. So any advice on how to avoid cramps for future races of this length would be great.
Well, it’s kind of hard to say because cramps can be caused by many things - could be training, likely nutrition not only on race day and during the race but in the days leading up.
Hi Taren, Congratz man!! Great race/result. Love your videos/content. It triggered my path into Triathlon and feeds my brain with your great sense of humor and quality content :-) Curious how do you pace your bike? Are you monitoring HRM and try to keep under a certain level? If so, to what degree do you allow yourself to go above. Just finished my first 1/2 tri (1.9/85km/21km) (4h.49m)and found transition bike to run very hard and wondering if i've done too much hrm above my treshold (160bpm) putting too much cement in my legs....not sure....but the run felt painful...
I set a target average wattage that I arrive on based on long training days. I then go over that average wattage on climbs and during big surges, then under that average wattage on downhills and *ahem* pee breaks and eating spots.
Jordan Haldeman Honestly it was a fast transition and I didn’t put on socks, with brand new runners... The guys at ON contacted me about the blisters:; their shoes have a high heel cup, but they shouldn’t chafe like that.
I'd be pretty happy with a 1:33 hm, let alone at the end of a 70.3, good job! Gotta be fast with that bike 😄 Tanlines!!! .. where the drone footage at bruh 😉💪🤘
With the heel injury from last year I don't have volume in the legs, but I've got speed and strength. So I knew that I was going to fade drastically and built into my race plan to go out harder to build a buffer on my goal time then would watch that buffer dwindle as the half marathon went on. The art of racing my man!
I hate that I missed a chance to throw $250 at the kickstarter, I had to save money from my last paycheck for my wife and my trip to run the Leadville Heavy Half and I don't get paid again until this Thursday. I really wanted to utilize the plan for my first tri in October and my first 70.3 next April. wahhh wahhh....

Thanks so much Christy, the support blows us away!!!!
yes!! You crushed that bike course!!

Awesome presentation. Congrats to you and your wife for putting this together and for the PB at the race.
Congratulations Taren! You were my inspiration to help navigate me thru my first Sprint Tri and WILL be my inspiration to lead me thru my first IronMan 70.3. Well done on your finish!
Justin Grand You can do it, man! If I can, anyone can!
Taren have already conquered the 70.3 Ironman! Looking for your next race man❤
Great race Taren! All that training really paid off. You inspired me to do my first 70.3 earlier this month in Victoria (at 50 years of age) - keep up the good work!
Congrats, Kevin!! Hopefully you'll do more! (50 isn't old by the way.)
Way to go Taren! You are inspiration to us all!
Hi from France
Taren, congrats! You made it in 2 fields: a new PB is THE reason why we're all part of the TRI tribe. Second; once again you proved to be a huge inspirator/motivator. Thanks man I'll think of you next Sunday (A-race: 70.3...in the middle of a heat wave).

Amazing job Taren!! So much positive energy from your fans and fellow trainiacs. You are winning my friend. Cheers
Awesome to see this video, got me amped for my next half in Muncie! Keep up the great work Taren!!!!
Great job Taren! You absolutely crushed it, especially that run. Holy Moly. I'm impressed.
Yes! Crushed it! (the race AND the video!) Had to watch it twice because it was that. damn. good. Congrats!
Watch it 100 times! lol
Awesome job! Thanks for hosting the meet up for coffee and it was great to run with you for a bit on Sunday!
Thanks for coming!!
Congrats man! Killed it! I saw you at the swim/bike transition. Good choice on going barefoot till the bike mount area! Thanks for the motivation!
Well done TT. You smashed it!!!!👍🏻💪🏻
Congratulations on a great race Taren. Getting results so close to your goals is a great feeling. Keep up the great work.
(And it seems no passing out, no medical tent, no dehydration issues this time - so that’s great too.)
A very successful CDA 2018 for you!
Yep, no medical tent = victory!
Well done Taren, was following you on the app from BC!!! Great work on a PB!
Thanks Jay! That's super cool that people wanted to follow me, I'm honoured!
Awesome job Taren. It was great to meet you. I broke my PB by 35 minutes. Coeur d'alene is a great race I loved the central location good for the kids to play on the playground and come and give me hugs to keep me going during the run.
WOW! 35 mins! Congrats man, that's awesome!
Thanks. You were playing coy after the race. You seemed unimpressed with your race when I saw you at the finish line.
Amazing job Taren, Phil and Cheyenne!
I like the slow-mo at 2:40 where it looks like you're saying to NTK "IT's F***ING HARD!" lol
excellent video... great job recording NTK... and great performance Taren!! esp the run time.
Tristan Maubec You are not wrong, Tristan!! Haha!
Trainiac headmaster! Hats off! See you next year on the Trainiac get together IM 70.3
Another awesome race day video! Congrats on a killer performance on race day!
Congratulations,Taren! Job well done!
Congrats on the PR! You put in the work and it's well deserved. How 'bout that run split! Smokin!
I couldn't be happier, honestly!
Well done!
You should, it's a really great town and the race was wonderful!
Outstanding! I just did Syracuse myself. You're a motivator.
Congrats on a perfectly executed race, Taren!
Well done! Awesome race, awesome result!
Congrats from Austria! 👍💪🌱
Great work man!!! Im happy everything turned out as you planned, you definitely put in the work for this to happen!
Congrats! Nice execution! Quite impressive!!
Great job! I look forward to following your prep for the next one.
Congratulations on a race very well executed!
Congrats great race!
Congrats! I also had a 4:30ish 10 days ago in Luxembourg so I know how it feels😊
Great work!
Contrats, as per your plan! Respect and just keep, just keep going!
Well done! I did CDA last year - was way too hot for me then - looks like it was hot again this year!
Kevin Gregory-Evans Around 80 degrees
Congrats man! Very well executed. If you are open to / and physically able, it appears like you have some free watts to gain on your bike position. Imho, it's definitely worth exploring.
u r amazing. I am watching u and u r inspiring.
Congrats on the amazing pb!
Amazing. Great work TT!
Great job, congrats.
Killed it!! Congrats on the PB
Congratulations on your PB! Way to work the plan.
Wow💪 wicked fast Taren!
Awesome job!
How did your excited host go?
Liam Kirkman He did a 6:45, very happy!
Congrats from Manitoba!
204, represent!
Hey @Triathlon Taren, what happen to that bike when you pulled yours out!!! Seems the fella beside you did not rack his bike very securely as you see it falling over at the 1:53 mark
bikerdude221 yep, it came off so I re-secured it
Congrats. Great job. What a time! Hey, I know you haven't yet tried a full IM but I am wondering how you will alter your training for an IM, other than just training more? Would you focus as much as speed work or more on endurance?
Training for a full is a whole different ballgame... I'm a few years away from having time to train for that!
Great job Taren.
Congratulations!
very Happy to see you Happy ... we might start to believe in your Trainiac method !! even if I am French .... cheers
Richard Checa haha! No offense meant by that!
of course not !! only good humour !! hahaahaha Thanks for the videos, very useful. Merci
Congrats!
Good job
Feel like I need to sign up to my next tri now
Yeah you do!
Hi hope you participate in Goa Ironman 70.3 in Oct 2019. Love from India.
Great job Taren on the pb. There's time to gain on that run you obviously have the engine a sub 90 mins would have got you a top 5 yesterday.. not trying to take away from your result just think thats where your biggest gains are 👍

Huge blisters on the back of my heels, yes... lots of bleeding. lol
Nice! I was very jealous, I so wished I was racing! Well done - great time! Thanks for all the videos dude - You inspire me to be better. Are you doing the 70.3 Worlds in September?
Sure am!
Triathlon Taren very cool! I’m sure you’ll smash it
Congrats well done taren
Hey Taren I’m really enjoying your videos and content , I’d love to get you to Australia for a race so come on down 👍
One of these days it'll happen -- NTK wants to visit Australia again, she LOVES it. She may leave me for an Aussie man though, she's obsessed with the accent!
Triathlon Taren do it we have some cracking races coming next season
Assuming your in the Austin area, what are some good resources to get into the Texas triathlon scene?
I live in Canada. :)
Congrats Taren!
good job, Taren!

Great job Taren, go and enjoy some recovery.
Good job Taren 💪💪💪💪
Smashed it!! well done :)

I remember when you were saying that for running you need to run longer than the race distance :D
Whoa nelly! That’s fast!!!
Good work, well done
Did you see the awesome shout out Dusty Spiller gave you on his channel?
No! I'll have to look!
Awesome Job Taren. Ok, what is next? Which race:)??
70.3 Worlds in South Africa!
3:22 the back of your ankles looks pretty shredded. I’ve been dealing with lots of blisters there recently. Any tips?
Jordan Haldeman Honestly it was a fast transition and I didn’t put on socks, with brand new runners... The guys at ON contacted me about the blisters:; their shoes have a high heel cup, but they shouldn’t chafe like that.
Triathlon Taren that did look painful. Actually, I suspect the pain will be felt tomorrow :).
Congrats on a very impressive result and a well executed race. How did your hosts go in their races?
Excellent! Phil did 6:45 in his first ever race, and Cheyenne did 7:12 -- everyone was very happy!
Triathlon Taren Very good times for both of them. The Taren magic definitely rubbed off.
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
that’s fast
Congrats on the ridiculous execution. No wonder you’re satisfied with the result! 🤜🤛
Nobody can be sad about a PB!
Did you knock over that guy's bike in T1 trying to unrack yours?
Congratulations, dude i saw that foot blister. And what was your AG place?
John Teague 11th in my AG, 66th overall!
Well done! PB woo!
I'd be pretty happy with a 1:33 hm, let alone at the end of a 70.3, good job! Gotta be fast with that bike 😄
Tanlines!!! .. where the drone footage at bruh 😉💪🤘
Ah, you can't really run a drone at these events. Ironman is fairly strict. Plus NTK hates running the drone. Heh.
Triathlon Taren ahh yea, I guess ironman wouldn't be into that 👍
Nice job and congrats! Quite an accomplishment, I hope I can get there 1 day~ (and boo to the 2 people that gave you the thumbs down! Losers)
They're jealous. :P
INCREDIBLE performance. Motivation to all of us following you! But don't you always tell us to go out sloooooooow on the run? Sloooooow?😬
With the heel injury from last year I don't have volume in the legs, but I've got speed and strength. So I knew that I was going to fade drastically and built into my race plan to go out harder to build a buffer on my goal time then would watch that buffer dwindle as the half marathon went on. The art of racing my man!
Congratz on the PB, how the feet? i think i saw some blood over there :S
Jorge Hernandez oh yeah, they were bleeding!
I’m doing a full, first ever, in June 27 2021…. I’m scared.
It feels like everyone belongs there and I’m so out of place😀
Need a bit more talc in the running shoes or socks, blisters ouch
Had plenty of talc but no socks. Went through transition too quickly!
Marginal gains for your pains, great race with excellent splits well done, from peninsula tri club N,Ireland
DAT BACKGROUND MUSIC DOE!!
Well earned result! Enjoy the eating Lol!!
Susan Wiggins nom nom nom nom nom!
Taren, it sounds like your fellow triathletes in this 70.3 were nicer than in Austin. no snot blown in your face, eh? :-)
No snot, didn't get peed on, it was a great day!
Congrats Taren!
Congrats !
