    i saw this one tip once:
    “don’t tell other artists to ‘just practice’ because you’re assuming they already don’t practice or don’t try. instead ask them specifically what they need help with.”
    and now i don’t tell others artists to “just practice” lol

    • @cosmicduck__
      @cosmicduck__ 4 місяці тому +1

      i agree with this statement. the phrase "just practice" insinuates that if you just "draw" for a long time you'll become good. I think the flaw with this tip is that you have to LEARN and practice that. just practicing the same things without ever trying to fix your problems and learning will end in a stalemate.
      whereas i think in this video jelarts is just trying to say that you must practice these things that you learn. like learning to draw different things as she mentioned beforehand, and that over time the practice will pay off.
      but yea i don't tell artists to "just practice"

    • @ahedjehad8514

      but what if i see that i don't improve at all? like, i've been drawing for almost 6 years now, and from what i can see, i hardly if ever improve. ok, sure, i draw better now than i did last year or even the year before that, but with how my artwork look, it hardly has improved... kinda weird, right?

    • @marcman1284
      @marcman1284 6 років тому +49

      I don't know how you draw and how you practise, and I only just started drawing a few months ago. The thing is, just drawing everyday isn't enough if you want to see huge improvement. Sure, you will improve as you said, but you actually need to have goals and your drawing (exercies) need to have a purpose. You can work as hard as you can, but if it isn't effective, you won't get the desired effect. What I'm saying is, think about what it is that you want to improve. For example, if it is perspective, look up a bunch of different perspective improvement videos and try those things out. When you made some artwork, look at it and observe what is wrong or what is right. Whenever something is wrong, change that thing in your next artwork and see how it works out. Keep this up and you will see major improvement. You will have to be daring to try things out, get out of your comfort zone, draw things way differently and draw way different things! Hope this helps you!

    Her ways to improve art
    1- Draw from life to improve your observational drawings
    2- Draw people (Anatomy studies and life drawings)
    3- Step out of your comfort zone. Draw those hands. Do a background. You won’t improve full bodies by drawing portraits.
    4- Keep a sketchbook. You know this
    5- you wONT GUESS- P R A C T I C E
    don’t strive to be perfect, strive to improve

    I just wanted to leave a comment and tell you how much your videos have helped me rediscover my artsy side...I used to draw alot when I was a kid,and got to be quite good as I got older...then life got in the way and I just stopped drawing,sketching,and painting pretty much anything art related that I enjoyed so much most of my life...then late last year because my life was alot calmer than it has been in a while,I made a goal for 2018 that I was going to start drawing,sketching,and painting again..but I was frustrated at trying to draw,nothing was coming out right...then I started watching your videos and learning tips that really helped me...now I'm drawing something every day even if I don't feel like it I draw something....my drawing skill is not where I want it to be yet,but it's getting there...I just wanted to say thank you for helping me get my art mojo back :D

    I agree ab the sketchbook thing. I’ve been recently looking at my past sketch books dating back to 6th grade when I started getting more serious ab art and I have improved so so much (I’m in 9th grade going on to 10th) even looking at my sketchbook I kept around last fall and Christmas when I started drawing anime/people correctly I have improved and I can now see even from a drawing from a month ago how my style has improved and developed into what I have now! I’ve been experimenting with drawing different things besides my same to characters and have even found it helpful to keep a notebook full of ideas of things to draw bc I tend to forget what I want to draw if I don’t write it down and that way I know where my ideas are at. I find your videos very helpful! I even took a try at drawing my turtle in her tank while she was in a “stretching” pose and it looks pretty good!

    They have so many great points that people forget. I love that they say not to only practice other objects but also other styles. I hate it when other artists only draw one type of thing in one type of way. (I mean, unless theyre comfortable with that) I personally don't want to get stuck on drawing the same thing in the same style in the same medium forever. It's so important to venture out, practice, and try other things.

    Stiffness.. that's it! You're absolutely correct about this issue. I've heard much of this by my mum (Art teacher), saying how my characters were stiff. Used to be offended at it and took it personally, but it was undeniably true.
    Thank you for addressing this issue we have to work and improve on. (I still do)
    Love and support your channel, keep up the good work! (thumbs up)

    2.Draw people-gesture drawing, study muscles/ skeleton
    3.Use your sketchbook as much as you can, draw daily, a great way to track progress
    4. Get out of your comfort zone, Draw different things/ style, Think about things you don’t usually draw

    Sometimes you're happy to improve and sad at the same time bcause you always want to do more.

    I was drawing a lot when i was younger and it came at a point where i tought i was bad etc... there was always a voice telling me i sucked but in reality i should have just keep practising and drawing, and i started redrawing yesterday and tbh its not the best drawing but its not the point and i know it and thank you for reminding me that practise is more important than perfectness (if i can say that)
