after the button shellac, what was the next stain, alcohol based? Then I assume, another coat of button shellac and then a coloured wax (?) Thanks Ian, for the video
Hi John. After the button polish I aged it with water colour paint. Burnt umber, black and red were brushed over the top, cut back then finished with a tinted wax. I didn't wast too much time over it.
To be honest It was mainly to upload something for the channel. Also to see what chestnut carves like and a bit of practice. The more you carve the better you get.
This was hypnotic and mesmerising at the same time. Thank you! 🇦🇺👴🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
I never carved Chestnut either but it looks like it carves nice . You done a nice job it came out great. Thanks
It does carve well as it is nice and soft so you don't have to sharpen the tools as often.
Отличный урок,спасибо Ян !

Very nice. Is this a prototype or a standalone piece of art?

@@ianswindell Thank you for sharing.
Sehr schön gemacht!! 👍🏼 sieht nachher sehr alt aus 😅
Danke. Aquarellfarbe eignet sich recht gut zum Vortäuschen einer Patinierung.
Great job Ian!
