- High moisture, soft, porous foods can be contaminated below the surface, and may have harmful bacteria growing along with the mold, so best to discard if any part has mold.
Mold on lower moisture, firm fruits and veggies, hard cheeses, hard salami and dry cured country hams can be cut at least 1 inch around and below the mold spot. Be sure not to touch the knife to the mold.

This is why I like frozen. Living out in the hinterlands like I do, store-bought berries are good for about three days before they become their own little ecosystem.
@Magic_beans_
You are right. It seems like after 2 days the mold appears. It makes me not want to buy them.
I guess I should just toss that bread instead of ripping off the moldy parts, huh? 🤣🤣
Why the hard or soft tule, is it because more moisture means more mold? Or just that hard means easier to cut out the mold?
Doesn’t spread as far for firm produce, which is why it can be cut out
I accidentally ate 4 moldy blackberries. They tasted fine but I ate them in the dark so I didn’t see the mold on them. Will I be fine?
Are you still there ?
@@jessr3593 I died sadly :(
Only joking haha. Turns out I’m fine but I woke up this morning with a few very itchy hives on my arms. Not sure if it’s related to the moldy berries or not. But other than that I’m perfectly fine
😂 24 hours later and you’re still alive - I think you’re gonna make it!
