It always amazes me how shut off Americans are to the rest of the world. I guarantee that 100% of the British people watching this, know what American people call Nappies. What county is Sheffield in? What state is Phoenix in?
Now maybe it’s a stretch but I’d like to assume it’s because US culture, mainly films from Hollywood, permeate British society more than vise versa. This goes for not only films, but lots of media in general, including now people online. But that’s just my best guess. However I feel your dramatizing your oversimplification of this. I’m American, and I can tell you that, at least here in Northern New Jersey, people are very much aware of other countries, maybe not all their terminology, but most people have a basic knowledge of other countries, especially English speaking ones. I know there are several compilations on UA-cam featuring the best moments of the whole audio series
Tbf Seth McFarlanes opinion does hold a bit more weight than the average opinion regardless of what you think of him, he has overseen one extremely successful animated program and another quite popular animated program.....how many have you created!? 🤔
If you were interested in the origin of £500 being a "monkey" it was English soldiers returning from India, the note equivalent to £500 had a monkey on it.
I remember my nappy being changed at about 1 year old looking around the room and gurgling and hearing scrathing noises. So yes Karl could have remembered something.
But how did you have any concept of your age at one? A one year old doesn't even know they're one. Maybe you have that memory but how do you know you were that age? What if you were 2 or 3 yrs old? That would be more likely to be a real memory. You might even be recollecting seeing a younger sibling as a baby or something from TV that's stuck in your head and seems like a real memory of yourself being a baby. Sorry but it's pretty much impossible to be a memory from that early age.
I also would love not to sleep. We had a conversation at work one time along the lines of "What super power would you want" mine and anothers was not to sleep, imagine how much you could experience if you didn't get tired or need to sleep.
HA! I've outsmarted the system here! What if they all wear diapers, but there IS a toilet but the line would be too long... Well if all of them are wearing diapers MAYBE the line won't be too long and Karl wouldn't have to wear one! AHA! lmao
I've lived in China, and can say, don't worry about the nappy thing, but the fact the word adult in English, that's odd... It was a nightmare finding nappies there, ended up going to a wholesaler's, yeah I'll have a hundred packs, they found it odd when they wanted an overseas address, as I just said stick them in a taxi...
The Chinese have a different point of view when it comes to ' toilet etiquette '. Lots of examples of questionable behaviour; such as squatting and pissing on the floor of an airport, and a well publicised incident of someone taking a dump on a busy public beach.
Why the disbelief about Karl remembering not liking nappies? Plenty of kids are in nappies until they're around 2-3, some aren't even potty trained until they go to nursary at 3. If he was 2 and half and still in nappies - some people do have earliest memories from a round the age of 2-3 so it's completely plausible :/
I remember with clarity wearing and using a nappy, i used to take it off and threw it under my bed and behind my wardrobe at just under a year old because i hated the wet feeling (42yrs ago they used terry towling nappies with plastic over pants, no disposable at that point). I also remember being pierced by the nappy pin at just over 1yr old! Dont know why you say people cannot remember life as early as that. I also remember pissing on my sisters pillow at 1 1/2 yrs old
I don’t want to be rude, honestly, but I’ve come across more English people that are “snobby” on this than Americans, mainly I think because they seem to claim ownership of the language itself so much, but hey, I don’t want to generalize here, and that’s just me and my experience online. I live in the US so maybe that has something to do with it.

Yes, Nappies and the UK term for Diaper.
I'm guessing it's from the same root as napkin.
@@aaronmicalowe you are correct.. In most ex-british colonies they are referred to as nappies.. Despite the fact that nappies were originally the name of the cloth 'diaper'.. Disposable nappies carried the name over.
Nappy is the British word for Diaper. It derives from the word 'napkin'.

500 rupees had a monkey on it, and later adopted by the British to mean 500
Soldiers in that era would never have £500 pounds

Given that "nappies" is clearly an English word, it would be very strange for the Chinese to use it.
Yet, oddly, the slang term "monkey", to mean £500, apparently comes from the fact that India's 500 Rupee note had a monkey on it.
Love it, ta very much
