We have 20 ducks and 3 geese. The geese are prissy and stately and clean as a whistle. The ducks are a hot mess. There is no waterer they will not find a way to make mud with if mud is a possibility, and winter is mud season. Just remember, ducks are feathered pigs. They love mud. They stick their bill down in it and root around for idk what but they love it. They make holes in the ground and let the water fill it up and then paddle around in it. I have just come to the sad reality that my ducks in winter will be muddy messes until I can get the baby pools filled up and they can have a crazy duck pool party and get momentarily clean. But even with the mud, they are the comic relief of my barnyard and I can not imagine life without ducks. You could put some stone pavers in the coop area and a lip at the door. We use pine pellets for bedding. We also have duckie nesting buckets which are essentially large round hard plastic toy totes with an arched "door" jigsawed out so they can get in and out. Not everyone uses the nest buckets but it keeps the eggs so much cleaner.
Yea same here haha, kind of figured they’ll just make puddles and mud no matter what I do. I never regret buying them however. I like the idea of nest boxes, but these kinds of ducks especially are notorious for being bad parents and will rarely make nests and incubate their eggs. I get the clean eggs part however, but I honestly don’t mind if they get dirty, as it’s easy to wash them, and I keep them in the fridge anyway. I might try the pavers in the future. Thanks for watching!

Gotta make the most of any fishing trip even if you don’t catch anything! My newest vid is a perfect example! Glad the ducks are well and healthy!
