- Starting a trucking business is confusing as it is, and with so many opinions of what the right way to start, it can become overwhelming. So here is a short and sweet video of the 5 things I wish I knew when starting my trucking company!

The problem with the finances instead of full payment. Is that you are always one pay away from bankruptcy. In the other hand if you pay all . And you have hard time. You still have your equipment. To recuperate from the bad times

Never ever ever buy a brand new truck as a small trucking company. In California I know you're restricted to 2011 or newer. Which really sucks, the last good year for trucks was 2006.
Finance a 2 year old truck and then pay it off in 2 years. Sell it the minute you get the title.
Do this every 2 years with every truck.
Buying new will cost you a lot more money and down time.
Everyone else, buy a 1997-2006 anything and keep it up and keep it forever

You are a life saver. How do you finance a truck when you are starting? They seem to want a CDL.
If you don't have a cDL it may be a good idea to do it through your bank via a loan

How much should I aim to start up my trucking company? All the way from down payment to your truck because I plan to finance a truck through my bank, insurance, all the fees and costs to form the business and authority? Im aiming at 40k?
Hello Miranda, in another video you said I can be able to get a DOT# and let it age, but according to this video I am going to have to apply for MC# and insurance. I’m confused
USDOT is only for INTRAstate operations. Its free to get and many insurance companies will ask you to have a DOT that is 1 year old or older. For INTERstate authority (crossing state lines), you will need an MC number (authority) and insurance to activate it. So to clarify- you can get a DOT number in advance, let it age, and when you are ready to get your MC number to operate interstate, you will have access to more insurance companies because your DOT is 1 years old.
