- Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers Football Program went out and made a huge hire bring over former Penn State DC Tom Allen to take over the defense heading into 2025. Can this defense take the step in 2025?

Seems like he left a good situation for a great situation. Hope it all works out💪
Appreciate the Clemson content fellas 🐅
Dil letting it fly with that 🔥 analysis again
The defense had so much talent but there were very clear gaps in Wes Godwin’s schemes that basically every team exposed. We’ll see how quickly Allen can fix it but I think this defense has to be significantly better. Last year for whatever reason we played with 2 linebackers on the field which was absolutely mental and cost us the south car game. Great video but just one thing, Jay Haynes is RB one at the moment
Go Tigers, let’s get it 💪🐅
If anyone wants any information about our defense I got you I know a guy who is a related to a Clemson insider who knows what is going on with in the program I can share that What the Plan is that they Are Hoping the NCAA Grants Demonte Capehart another year of eligibility so he can return and if it doesn’t go through then you should expect another Transfer Grab but that would not occur until after the spring game to make sure it’s necessary because they like Vic Burley And Stephiylan Green and they are giving them big minutes next season but Dabo wanted to have Capehart or another DT to start that way Green And Burley work on shedding Blocks and gaining speed because they have all the intangibles to be dominant D-Lineman.
2nd there is going to be a position battle at linebacker due to Barrett Carters departure free Safety and Left Guard the linebacker battle will be between Purdue Transfer Will Heldt, Jamal Anderson, Kobe McCloud and Dee Crayton and At Left Guard the battle is going to be between Dietrick Pennington, Colin Sadler, Ian Reed and Mason Wade but I would not be surprised if we see incoming freshman Easton Ware be possibly being breakout player due to his run blocking ability already being at the level college coaches expect on a consistent basis still a work in progress but he looks like a diamond in the rough to me. Free Safety is pretty much anyone’s game
3rd Will Heldt Could start Defensive End but their hoping to make him a full time linebacker
But the guaranteed starter next season across Clemsons Defense
LDE: TJ Parker
DT1: Peter Woods
RDE: Jahiem Lawson, Darien Mayo or Heldt
MLB: Sammy Brown
ROLB: Wade Woodaz
LCB: Avieon Terrell
SS: Kylon Griffin
RCB: Ashton Hampton
NICKEL: Khalil Barnes
Go get 'em in '25, TIGERS!
I hope Tom Allen tries Jaedyn Lukas out at Safety, I think he would be a great fit there. If we can also add a couple other defensive guys in the next portal window, the defense should be just as good as the offense.
That’d be perfect imo. Lukas is uber athletic but it seems playing man coverage isn’t quite his forte and that’s what Clemson defenses specialize in from a corner perspective.
You’re both right Lukas can tackle very well but has given up way too many big plays at corner
You could see Wes wasn't gonna work by his reactions on the sideline. With Brent V they had to hold him off the field vs Wes who just kind of stood there and had no juice after big plays.
That's not the reason why Wes didn't work out. Tom Allen doesn't need a get back coach but he holds his players to a high standard and he makes it clear that it's out of love for them and wanting to see them succeed. I definitely think Tom Allen has more energy than Wes did but looking back on it, I think sometimes BV went a little over the top and I wonder if he got too aggressive at times.
@ I can tell you’ve never played defense in football by saying BV went over the top. As a player you feed off your coach’s energy at times especially on defense. A DC is supposed to be the most passionate and aggressive coach on the staff. I’m saying Wes didn’t work out cause he didn’t have the passion or aggression that a good DC needs. I wasn’t saying Tom Allen would be the same as BV but he coached with more passion and you can see it and hear it when he talks.
@@jakesamples6692 Yeah, I have no problem with him getting his players energized but I think at times he went a little over the top and got too aggressive with his play calls. I remember in 2021 FSU got a long touchdown on a wheel route and also gave up a long touchdown to Syracuse in 2021 as well. I have no problem with the energy and getting his guys fired up but at the same time you have to get your guys in the right call.
@@jakesamples6692 You don't need to have BV energy to be a great DC. That's not the reason why Wes didn't work out. Look at Al Golden at Notre Dame or Pete Kwiatkowski at Texas. They don't have the same type of energy that BV had but they're both great defensive coordinators.
Our defense was a reflection of a lackadaisical Wes Goodwin. I do not believe he will be a successful lone DC. He belongs in the box analyzing. I can't imagine Wes motivating anyone in practice to fire them up. A bit hard to take doughboy seriously if I'm a 18-20 year old. Much less a 21-22 year old vet.
Tom Allen, however, he has the fire to make waterboys want to run through walls! I feel very optimistic Tom Allen fires us up and LEADS our young men 1000%!
Now that Capehart is back he will be starting alongside Peter Woods
My take on defense is that Allen won't tolerate the sloppy play that seemed to be allowed too much under Wes. Bad angles and bad tackling below the caliber of the guys committing them. How good will they be? Can't predict. But I'll bet they'll go from way below 50 in most categories than matter to no worse than top 25. Some areas perhaps better. On offense, what's true is there is a LOT more seniority and experience returning on the OL all who will be in year 2 under Luke. Again, expect improvements.
Elite is the most overused unoriginal word in college football. Put a little more effort into the descriptions/titles.
Tony White > Tom Allen watch FSU have the better defense.
Now that's funny right there 😂
🤡🤡
Let's see if FSU has a winning record first
