  • I'm showing you have to make Cold Start or No Boil Yogurt. The best part is... you only need 3 ingredients to make it!
I love easy recipes so that is why I decided to show you how to make this yogurt. You just dump everything in (a cold start) and push the yogurt button and you are good to go!
Want to print this 3 Ingredient Yogurt recipe? You can find it here: www.sixsistersstuff.com/recip...

Be sure to give me a thumbs up and comment if you would like more Instant pot recipes or tips and tricks with the Instant Pot! Also, feel free to comment if you have any questions, and I will try the answer them the best I can!
This is the Instant Pot I have (yes it is the cheaper one and I love it!): amzn.to/2F3Lznx
If you are cooking for 1-2 people I would suggest the 3 Quart. If you are cooking for more, I would suggest the 6 quart!
COLD START OR NO BOIL YOGURT
The traditional way of making yogurt requires you to heat your milk to a temperature of 160 - 180 degrees and then to cool it before adding your yogurt starter. This "scalding" of the milk kills bacteria in the milk before making yogurt.
This step is not necessary with the cold start method, because we use a ultra pasteurized, ultra high temp, or shelf stable milk such as Fairlife milk. These milks have already been heated to a very high temperature before being packaged and sold.
    WHAT IS A YOGURT STARTER?
To make yogurt, you need to add live yogurt cultures! This is easier than it sounds.
For our yogurt starter, we use 1-2 Tablespoons of a plain yogurt with live cultures. Check the ingredient list to see if it has live/active cultures-- this is a must!
The brand doesn't matter, but we recommend one low in sugar and additional ingredients.
WHAT KIND OF INSTANT POT DO I NEED?
You will need an Instant Pot with the "Yogurt" button. As long as you have that, you can do this in a 3 quart, 6 quart, or 8 quart Instant Pot.
You can double this recipe, using up to one gallon of milk, in the 6 quart or 8 quart. We started with a small batch while we figured it out, but it's been a large batch ever since because we like it so much.

Okay I made your three ingredient yogurt tonight for the first time. I want to preface this by telling you that I never liked plain yogurt because to me it smells like stinky feet. LOL when I put it together, all I could smell was that stinky feet smell from the plain yogurt. The eight hours just finished and I tasted it and it is OMG fantastic! It's in the fridge and I'm so looking forward to eating it for breakfast tomorrow with some fruit and almonds. Thank you so much for this recipe! Oh, I wanted to tell you that I bought the wrong milk. I bought Fairlife but I bought the one that was no fat and ultra pasteurized. I wasn't sure if it would work but I decided to try it anyway. It worked perfectly! It's creamy and the Spoon stood up when I placed it in the yogurt. This is so much cheaper than buying all those individual containers of yogurt and making all that plastic waste! Thank you so much for making this video!

I have been making my yogurt with this cold start way every week for many months. My store never has the Fairlife whole milk so I use the organic whole milk from Walmart and add the sweetened condensed milk and yogurt starter stirred well then do the yogurt setting on the instant pot. I do strain it into the yogurt strainer because I love Greek style and it is fabulous. If you use a good Organic milk there is no need to boil the milk. The Cold Start method always works.

I whisk my 2T of yogurt w/ live cultures and a little milk in a small bowl before adding to the milk and sweetened condensed milk mixture.I also find placing a paper towel between the lid and the pot during the process also helps with condensation. I used this recipe and made yogurt the other night and it turned out amazing! Thank you for the recipe. One thing though... The video confused me a bit regarding the lid and you mentioned that you can use the lid or put a plate on top and I was thinking... I want to use the lid, so does it need to be on venting or sealing? So I went to you site, found the recipe and unlike the video it said to put the lid on sealing. I did and it worked. Maybe it doesn't matter, I don't know but... if you're on the fence regarding sealing or venting... Sealing worked for me. :)

@@mn6780 I made some just yesterday as a matter of fact... Here's what I realized... There are two pressure mechanisms on the instant pot. One is the sealing venting thing and the other is the metal pin. In order for the pin to seal... the temperature in the pot must be high enough for it to create steam and push the metal pin up. When you make yogurt... the temp never gets high enough to push up the pin so it doesn't matter if it's on sealing or venting... it never gets a chance to do either because it never makes enough heat to push the metal pin up.

Thank you and Thank you for this video!! I just took my 1st batch out of the fridge and it is perfect! My 3yo isn't a milk drinker, but eats tons of yogurt and prefers drinking it out of pouches. I stopped buying the Sonyfield Organic store bought yogurt pouches because they're really expensive and they have too much sugar. So, I've been buying a pint of vanilla and plain and mixing it (for flavor, but less sugar) and filling my own reusable yogurt pouches. This recipe is a life saver for me! Much cheaper, and makes about the same amount I was buying every week. Also LO loves it and didn't notice the change.

This is the best yogurt ever! I like to strain mine after it has sat in the refrigerator overnight and let the whey drip out. It is so smooth and creamy and delicious! I always use your recipe but sometimes I add some key lime juice because I also love key lime yogurt!!!

Hi, Has anyone tried evaporated milk instead of the condensed? Trying to cut out sugars but thought the evaporated would add some richness. Ordering an instant pot with the yogurt setting to replace an old crock and making yogurt is on the top of my list! I'll eventually test out the evaporated if no one has tried it. Glad I found this channel. Wonderful!

I absolutely love yogurt! Great video - I have been loving my instant pot also and yogurt is the BEST in it! I ferment mine for 24 hours so it's extra tangy and virtually lactose free - I am curious about the condensed milk - sounds very interesting! Love your channel 💙

Wait so letting it “ferment” is that resting I’m fridge overnight ?? That takes the lactose out??

    • @DiningWithTara
      @DiningWithTara 2 роки тому +1

@@lisascott5535 that's actually when it's on the yogurt function in the instant pot! The longer you ferment it the more lactose free. Then I put mine through a Greek yogurt strainer in fridge overnight. It's super thick and tangy 💜

Tried this last night and woke to delish yogurt. I used a different brand of ultrapasturized milk and it worked fine but does not give you as thick a yogurt. I am straining it now in the fridge so it will get plenty thick! Used the whole can of condensed milk but will reduce it next time, too sweet for me. Will be fun to start experimenting now! Thanks 😊

Since nobody else has chimed n yet, here's my two cents worth.
I've read that you can make yogurt from any kind of milk, it's the live cultures in the starter that makes the magic work.
Since nut milks aren't even dairy, theoretically, could you make it out of Kool-aid, or beef broth, or...... Get ready...... Wine!?!? (lol, that probably wouldnt work... Battle of the Enzymes??
Really, y'all, I'd love me some tomato soup yogurt in the middle of summer.

Bryon White After it was done cooling down in the Refrigerator. Additional flavors were added after it was complete as toppers. I just need to figure out how to put this recipe in mason jars without blowing anything up.

Making my own yogurt was finging happiness! The only other food I've made in the IP, was oxtails & recently I've made oatmeal in it. This is the recipe for LIFE!! I've tried the boil method & ended up with, not yogurt it was Kefir 😒😂😂 I'll use maybe half of the condensed milk & add some vanilla extra. Soooo good!! Two weeks ago, I used vanilla bean pods. I loved seeing the lil specs of the vanilla bean in the yogurt. I've used a blueberry, mixed berry, strawberry & peach yogurt, as the starter & while it changes the color slightly, it's still soooo good! I usually go for 8:30, just a lil extra tang, extra razzle dazzle😊 The no boil method....game changer!

I've made this twice so far. The first time I tried it without the condensed milk. The consistency was great but just a little too bitter even when added to a smoothie. The second time I added the condensed milk and 1 tbls vanilla and it is delicious. I also strained it the second time because I always hate when yogurt separates. I may try half a can of condensed milk next time but not sure since it is so good. Thanks!!

I'd love to see an update on this recipe as my new Instant Pot Pro has a yogurt button but only Low or High (boil) settings. I've done everything and set it on low rather than high (boil) so I hope I've done it right! Also, would have loved if the "live culture" would have been mentioned in your verbal directions - I hope I have the correct yogurt type! Love your recipes so far! Just 7 hours to see if I've done the right things!

The Instant Pot is not a big thing in the UK but I have one and absolutely love it. If any other UK people want to use the cold method for yogurt just use UHT milk, it's already been boiled so can be used for the cold start. This is what I'm trying next, love making yogurt in my instant pot.

Put lemon curd or lime curd on top
    When serving. Decadent yogurt.

I've been making yogurt this way. Though I only made with sweeten condensed milk just once. Once mixture is combined I put it into pint and half canning jars with lids. Into the IP for 12 hours. Perfect Greek yogurt 😋. Two ice cream scoops and chocolate syrup it's like a dish of ice cream without the guilt.

My fourth attempt at making yoghurt in my pot (I’m in Australia and can’t get the instant pot, so I have the crockpot multicooker). I was skeptical about the sweetened condensed milk, and we also don’t have fairlife milk here but from what I could figure out it’s long life milk? Anyway. Omg this is the most delicious yoghurt I’ve eaten in my entire life
