Aside from the most common N1, I'd like to see said video myself. It'll certainly be something very few have done in the entire Japanese teaching community.
And here it is! The entire JLPT N4 grammar in one monster-sized video! I'm really proud of this one! Thank you so much for making this video! It for sure helps many people.
Man, I am studying for the N4 test and this is by far the most enjoyable piece of Japanese studying content I have seen. Thank you so much for making this video. It also helped me find your channel, and I can't wait to go through studying for N3 with your content in the future.
It's really cool to watch these videos and pick out what my Japanese Teacher has and hasn't taught! There's some N5 he's missing, and he's taught some N4, even some N3. Just shows that he's really tailoring his lessons to what he thinks is important. Makes me appreciate him more and more.

Compared to memorising Kanji and vocab, it normally takes me a lot of self-recrimination and incentives to even get me to study Japanese grammar. Surprisingly, your videos are the perfect background video for me to immerse myself! It might not be the most efficient way to learn, but repeated rewatches have really driven home each grammar point, a marked improvement to my waffling procrastination. And it’s giving me the itch to actually finish my game backlog too! I can’t wait for your completed N3 grammar series!
Matt deserves a round of applause for this project. Think about it, all he had to do was just make a simple video series explaining grammar. But he wanted to go the extra mile. In fact, he practically circumnavigated the globe. He put hours and hours into recording footage, finding scenes from different games to use as study material and also, avoiding scenes that contained spoilers. Just wanted to say that I appreciate the work ethic.
I'm 20 mins into the video and I would say I'm super impressed!! I love how your voice is so enthusiastic. I can see you spend a lot of effort making this. Hope you get a lot more and more views you deserved!!
This is a sick idea and seems like a LOT of work to do. This is below my level but I'm watching for fun anyway. Hopefully in time you'll do N3, N2, as well. So cool.
Amazing job! Thank you for making these! Any video that can make me spend 4 hours sitting through a grammar explanation and think it's interesting is a big success! I love the game variety and moments you chose!
oh finally I got through this! I've been making 5 flashcards everyday (some not from this video, but nearly all the grammar from the video is in my flashcards) I really love the way you explain things and give examples (I write example sentences on flashcards) the whole thing is crazy good I love how you explain in detail every single one like a proper teacher instead of just giving the list and that you mention the difference between spoken and written japanese, you're a God sent I hope you're having a great year. With that, I cant wait to start another 4+ hour long video from you :) TYSM!!!!
Just finished this video and man, you are one of my favorite youtubers ever. You have made learning Japanese so incredibly fun. I agree with what you said about university at the end. I stopped after one semester of Japanese because of how RIDICULOUSLY slow it was being taught and just started self-studying. My studies haven't really been focused, however, so I have been learning vocab and concepts from every JLPT level without having learned a lot of basic grammar, so that's where you videos came in! I feel like my comprehension skills have skyrocketed after watching your N5 and N4 videos, thank you so much! Now onto the massive N3 video...

Just finished going through your entire N5 grammar video and taking notes inside my own grammar notebook! Ready to start on this one! I would say I'm around N3 in terms of my JP level, (I already passed the N4 JLPT 2 years ago), but as I learn most of my Japanese from just regular life, there's definitely some grammar things I've missed, so your videos are very helpful! Thank you for your hard work, you are a gem!!
I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this, not only the content itself but for the fact that you provide it freely on UA-cam. I'm keeping a good pace with Japanese, learning more than 30 pieces of vocab per day and I haven't been struggling that much with kanji lately, but when it comes to grammar, oh boy... I'm having trouble financially and I don't have the resources to buy a grammar textbook, all the while the free online resources seem more confusing than else for me (and I recognize it as a fault of mine, not of the guides). I had already used your N5 grammar video and it proved to be extremely helpful, so much so that I really started reading a bit, which was totally impossible for me before even though I had a vocab count of 1000 words under my belt. This is such a great effort and I just want you to know that I'm grateful. I don't want to take anymore of your time, just thank you, really. I wish you the best, you know you're going to be big for the japanese learning community. Keep on being you, it's pretty great.
This is such a high quality and interesting way to learn grammar, thank you so much Matt! I'm so happy I found your channel, I'll probably end up watching this and the N5 video a bunch.
IMO the absolute best part of these videos is the fact that the grammar points are explained including the context of the grammar points already discussed. That's so helpful. It's really important, IMO, to know how grammar relates to things previously explained!
Thank you so, so much for making this!!!! I have my N3 in less than a week, and your videos work so well in getting me to understand grammar in new ways, it’s really helping me out 💕

I watched this entire video on my flight to Osaka yesterday. I've been super into your content lately. I got discouraged after I've been studying in my spare time for a year and a half and plateaued somewhere around early N4. The Japanese learning community really pushes immersion--it really helped me get where I am, but somehow I can't find the right content anymore. Now I'm finding that your English explanations of grammar and vocabulary are super engrossing. That must mean there's something in it I need, like when you eat a new vegetable and it makes you feel really good--there was some vitamin in it you were missing.
I know the main point of this video is to teach people Japanese, but at the same time it's interesting to see the creative choices the people that make these games use with the language. The different levels of politeness allow for some beautiful character moments you simply couldn't do with English. Very interesting!
I always struggled with grammar the most and I’ve my JLPT in a week. This is by far the most efficient method of understanding and memorizing I’ve seen. Textbooks, exercises and practice exams never did the trick as well as this. I got less than half answers correct on grammar but I’ll study harder with this video and hopefully get a good score next week!
Bro this was actually life changing for me. I've been struggling with paid language learning apps for almost 2 years now, yet, this video taught me everything I've been trying so hard to absorb 😮 literally can't thank you enough man, but I'm sure your hard work will absolutely pay off so, keep it up!❤
Thank you for these perfect explanations. I appreciate most that you explained what some of the more difficult vocabulary words\kanji meant and didn't assume we knew them. That way I didn't need to pause and look them up every time.
OMG! how awesome is that, your videos are amazing , so much effort was put on them. Finally, a way to learn Japanese outside of the boring textbooks. If I keep it up with you, ill pass to N1 in no time !
I love your videos! They have really helped me to learn new structures as well as to review the ones I already knew. I'm so looking forward when you upload your N3 version!!
This is amazing. Thank you so much for all your work. Do you think it would be possible to have anki cards for this one as well ? Just like the one you made for N5 level.

The amount of work you do. I'm astounded that you would do it for us strangers. You have my respect 先生。
So exciting to see what games will be used as examples, and what part of the games and how these games sound in Japanese!
Dude, you just made studying/reviewing Japanese so much more fun for me
This is very helpful man, my sensei used this video to educate me and my classmate to learn more he even give us task to write down the lessons that tackled in this video.. thank for this wonderful video i can understand more now.
By God, this seems like a lot of research, editing, planning to make this masterpiece.
Thank you. Arigato Gozaimasu. You helped a lot of people learning japanese.
Dang dude, quality is insane. Easiest subscribe of my life. Can't wait for N3-1 if you survive it. お疲れ様です!
Such an amazing resource to fill the gaps in my grammar/vocab. Thank you!
Playing games is my favourite way to study but I'm always nervous to dive in without subtitles. These videos help me feel more confident enjoying the games because I see the grammar I know being used in them. Really appreciate the amount of work you put into these videos!!
I have to pass JLPT tommorow ! Thank you so much
Bahaha my pleasure! Good luck man! Hope you pass!
Hopefully the video helps you get a bit of a higher score :)
me too, good luck
me too! super intensive grammar summary 😂😂
Thank you so much for all of this!
Amazing video! Had quite a few that I didn't know, having multiples examples is really great
I cannot thank you enough for this video. Tomorrow I'm going to the N4 test and I needed exactly this, if I pass, it's going to be partly thanks to you, so I'm forever grateful. Amazing job!
I've never been so engaged in a video about Japanese grammar in my life! Thank you so much for all of your hard work for putting this video out. Do you have a way to view a PDF list of the grammar that you put together?
Yo I've been studying vigorously for about three years now and I'm equal parts surprised and disappointed that I haven't come across this channel sooner, 教えてくれてありがとう!!
Not gonna lie I’m still studying for the N5 but I’m curious 👀
X2
If you just study for n5 you just stay there
Sameee
Same, lol
Dude wow, I'm only 30 min through but this is an insane content. I applied for N4 for next july so it will help a lot. Thank you for the many hours you took in making this, you explain very well and I love all the various videogames exemples!! Just subscribed :)
Ok.. this is BEYOND EPIC. Thanks doesn't seem enough of a word. But, Thanks so much... so dope!
I just watched 10 minutes of your video and it´s worth to watch the rest of it. Nice explanations. The way you use video game scenes is creative and very appealing to me. Keep it up!
This is unbelievably good, great work! Can't wait for N3 grammar! C:
Hehehe thank you so much!
Im so glad you enjoyed my work! Hehe cant wait to get the N3 started!
@@GameGengo good work...but this N4 Grammer video why has more errors ?
This is incredible! It’s obvious that so much time and effort has gone into this so thank you so much for sharing with us 😊
HONESTLY THIS HELPS SO MUCH, im taking jlpt n4 this year and im trying to remember everything so having everyhting in one video helps so so much!!😭
im in the very same boat haha, one month left and its getting a bit stressful. goodluck!
These videos are so great, I’m taking the N2 soon and I’ve never taken a JLPT test before so these are great for review, thanks so much!!!
Well, I'll be coming back to this vid many times. Very nicely done!
What was your score? Hope it was good xD
How did you do
Bro this was actually life changing for me.
The best Japanese learning video I’ve ever seen!!!thx so much!
OMG! how awesome is that, your videos are amazing , so much effort was put on them.
Finally, a way to learn Japanese outside of the boring textbooks.
If I keep it up with you, ill pass to N1 in no time !
I love your videos! They have really helped me to learn new structures as well as to review the ones I already knew. I'm so looking forward when you upload your N3 version!!
What a lovely idea! Thanks for your effort!
Thank you so much for enjoying my work! :)
This is amazing. Thank you so much for all your work.
Do you think it would be possible to have anki cards for this one as well ? Just like the one you made for N5 level.
