Cillian Murphy has said that when he is Tommy he IS Tommy. He becomes him to the point that when he goes home he just learns his lines & goes to bed cos he is not sociable as Tommy.
Cillian Murphy looks like he just wants to go home, yet he’s not recognized as the brilliant actor he truly is. The Hollywood style isn’t appealing to him which makes him even more respectable because he’s a straight personality and his passion for acting can be seen in his roles.
The glazed over look with the Boardwalk Empire reference was incredible that was a really good show too I thought but neither of them seem to want any comparison.
Peaky Blinders my most favourite show of all time, on any size screen. Richly developed, action packed, character driven, visually beautiful and written exquisitely. Cillian is a powerful actor. Stunning, sharp and addictive. Nothing compares.
The Peaky Blinders was one of the most mind blowing series I've seen. But what can't escape my mind is, that Caillan is so ridiculously handsome. Like a statue, just perfect.
My husband and I started watching Peaky Blinders and the first thing I said during the first episode was "what an absolutely brilliant mind wrote this"! Then the music! Now a huge fan of Nick Cave, Joy Division and so many others. Made it a mission to see as many works as possible that cast members have been involved with and have not been disappointed! We are anxiously waiting for season six!
Oh my god you and me both. I too discovered Nick Cave and Joy Division through this series and I'm such a fan of their music now. And now I'm on a Cillian Murphy spree again because I re-watched the series while yearning for S6.
One of THE BEST tv series ive ever watched, so excited for season 6. Amazing cast, incredible acting, brilliant writing, Steve Knight thank you so much, youre without a doubt an incredible story teller 😊❤❤
Wow I love this interview, the questions were really nice and the guest were very comfortable, especially for Cillian, he had time to answer and think. He seemed like he enjoyed the interview
At the end, Steven Knight says "I'd love to take Tommy to the start of the 2nd World War." He pretty much got his wish, didn't he? I loved this program. Now that the last season is over, I'm going to start watching it from the beginning again. It's the 3rd best series I have ever watched - - after Breaking Bad and The Sopranos.
I am from Viking country,Norway and are a desentens. But this serie , blow me out !!!! Gillian is a great actor and deserve a higher place among the actors of feks hollywood!!!!!!
Best show ever .....it feeds every part of my visionary hunger all the actors are at their own peaky blindingly best ,and as a TVs addict it has so much depth ..amazing
Clearly Cillian is a highly intelligent chap, and is a superb actor, who should go far. One of 'our' best. The Brummy accent is not that authentic, but what he does he does it brilliantly.
If Oscars didn't recognise Cillian now then Oscar is no worthy appreciating a true fantastic. Actor of the generation he is extraordinary his eyes act and deliver emotion nor dialogue just loving all his movie❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great interview. You have a real sense of the pride of what was achieved here. Great series and really looking forward to what the third series may bring.
Im a new fan just started watching this show binged watched on netflix on season 4 now and geezus is it good i was missing out big time and so are alot of ppl
Top notch performance's from all the actors in this superb series I've lost count how many times I've watched them over and over and will continue to do so 👍
Thank you Mr Knight and Cillian for the thrilling journey of Thomas Shelby 💯💪👏 Now onto the film 😎 wonder what role Tommy will play. Will he return to the Family ? excited to wait and see! Best of luck to all involved 😁
I was surprised at first with Steven Knight's reaction to the question about Boardwalk Empire(B.E.), it was a wonderful opportunity to promote how unique a perspective his own show really has to that particular time period's genre. He did say that he purposely doesn't watch B.E. because he feels like it might end up influencing his work. I'm hoping that once he is done with the Peaky Blinders series, he might watch an episode of B.E. and realize that his show holds up much more both in entertainment value and complexity of story, all within a 6 episode first season. I liked B.E. for the first few seasons, but it seemed to eventually be limited and almost stagnated by the stereotypical 'American 1920's' that Hollywood seems to heavily adhere to. However, Peaky Blinders and its intriguing focus on a particular ethnic/cultural niche of the working class people of the industrial Birmingham society (post WWI) creates a new interest in that place, time, and perspective in history.
I recently read an interview where he said he doesn't watch much tv or movies because he doesn't want to be influenced by others. Shame but I can understand where he's coming from.
Watched BE after Peaky Blinders and I must agree that after the first few episodes, BE became trashy. Friends who have also watched Peaky Blinders agree that the show is of quality that that has not been seen for years coming out of the US. Great writing by Steven Knight, work by the entire production crew and especially the cast!
I thought Boardwalk was a really beautifully shot show also. I liked Deadwood as well though the setting was more lewd but the language and writing excellent disappointed there was only about 3 seasons of it.
come on Steven !!! after all the episodes are done - which could be another year or two - you have to make it into a two part movie - I speak for most in the U.S. - as a military veteran - this movie is fuck'n bad - asszzzz !!!! make it a movie after your done telling the story -
So if every series is 2 years later we had 1919. 1921, 1923 so we would need 8 more series or bigger jumps. I am up to watch 8 more series and l hope they get a chance so to do that. We we are gonna get to 1927 at least as we know there is series 4 and 5. Omg are we gonna see little Charlie becoming part of the gang? 😂😂😂
Season 4 is 1925 but season 5 jumps to 1929 and the writer wants the series to end at the beginning of WWII so in about 10 yrs after season 5. Also say they want to do season 6 and 7 if allowed.
Dear Mr Knight ... please find a space in the next series for the following piece of music... It's called 'The Lonesome Boatman.' The best (for me) is the one performed live at Glasgow Barrowlands by Charlie and the Bhoys. The tin whistle is haunting. Have a listen.
Sometimes I forget that Tommy is just a character, great actor
So true. Very real guy/actor.
England I know, just worshiped him in Peaky Blinders, spell binding.
I wish he wasn’t just a character I want him as tommy with the hair, hat, suits and especially the accent
Cillian Murphy has said that when he is Tommy he IS Tommy. He becomes him to the point that when he goes home he just learns his lines & goes to bed cos he is not sociable as Tommy.

he's completely underrated. He is relatively laid back compared to most interviews you see him in.
He's like Christian Bale in that way. Hating Paparazzi and press and interviews. Maybe it's a more method, British thing.

Cillian’s English is SO CLEAR and understandable, even to me.
I'm obssed with Cillian Murphy, absolutely amazing actor, The whole cast were incredible!!!
If I know he's going to be in the movie I watch it he is one of the best actors of his age any age actually
I’m obsessed level -watching all his movies. He’s incredible
Cillian is SUCH a beautiful man.
He’s not only handsome he’s humble and a darn underrated actor one of the best
He should keep the tommy hair cut for sure!
The man’s simply gorgeous, any haircut is good. You could get lost in his eyes.
Apparently, he doesn't like it. I think he is beautiful with any haircut actually
He told in a interview he said he hated the haircut
He can't do other roles with that hair he said so himself

His voice is so deep and sexy 💕

Long live the awesomeness that is Thomas Shelby AND Cillian Murphy.
Cillian Murphy is beautiful.
It amazies me how one person could write such an incredible series that's so adictable and believable where do these people come from??
Joanne Gallagher no kidding, powerful on so many levels.
From the trenches 😂
The fact that Steven Wright wrote EVERy episode boggles my mind. He has an incredible imagination and sense of story arc and pace
He was always good at school but a modest lad who loved footie , Blues.

5:55-6:10 Cillian's ucomfy eyes are screaming from within. Relief doesn't come until 6:14 with a heavy swallow. Humility abounds with this one.
Cillian Murphy is like the boy you seriously like and watch from afar in high school but he's too involved in drama class to notice 🤤
